GITM #19 Ann Voskamp

Welcome to the Glorious in the Mundane podcast! Today I am so excited to be sitting down with the lovely Ann Voskamp! I caught Ann while she was in town on her book release tour a few weeks ago while she was staying with our mutual friend Rebekah Lyons. I love this podcast because it was SO last minute, so off the cuff and REALLY late at night. We did actually have to edit out quite a bit of laughter because at one point we got a little bit delirious! I loved asking Ann what life was like BEFORE her first book…what was an everyday life like on the farm before there were things like book tours in her life! We also of course get into a little bit about her new book called The Broken Way, which I fell in love with the title RIGHT away! I love Ann’s poetic style of LIFE in general but also how raw she is and transparent. It’s really beautiful. Also, you’ll get to hear our special announcement at the end of the podcast, so don’t miss it! Thank you for tuning in today!

GITM # 18 Matt Redman

Welcome to the Glorious in the mundane podcast! Today I am so excited to share an interview with my friend and fellow songwriter Matt Redman. Nathan and I have been friends with Matt for about 16 years now and have been continually inspired and challenged by Matt’s leading and songwriting through the years. Known for songs like “Blessed Be Your Name” “Better is One Day” and of course “10,000 reasons.” Matt’s gifts have been just that - a gift to the Church and to homes around the nations as His songs help us say what we long and desire to say to our Savior. Nathan and I have been privileged through the years to get to travel with Matt and his band quite a bit and I always take note and learn from Matt’s leading. He truly understands the importance of leading God’s people in worship and I’ve never seen Him take it lightly, even when he’s tired from all his international flying, He always takes a moment to lead us as a team in prayer and reflection before we go out and lead the masses together. I so appreciate the depth of Matt’s songwriting and I hope you enjoy hearing some of the stories around some of his beloved songs! Enjoy!

I hope it encourages you in many ways today!! You'll hear kind of how we got started writing and making music together and you'll hear how we have grown in it together through the years. Nathan is the producer behind probably some of your favorite songs and you didn't even know it... "10,000 Reasons" by our friend @mattredmanmusic and many of the @passion268 albums through the years and another favorite, "Blessings" by @laurastorymusic ... just to name a few. GITM #15 Mini Me: Amaryllis

Welcome to the Glorious in the Mundane Podcast, I’m your host Christy Nockels. Today is SO special for me because I’m getting to share the first sneak peek or sneak LISTEN I should say into “The Thrill of Hope”, my first Christmas album! Today in this “mini me” episode, you’re going to hear the story behind the beautiful Amaryllis gracing the cover art and you’ll hear the SONG Amaryllis! I’ll unfold how this all started with a letter and a gift from my sister-in-love, Kristin Hill, and how it turned into a song! It’s a gorgeous and very meaningful picture, yet again, of God’s intentionality and creativity in a simple, house plant! His beauty and glory and His story, are truly all around us! Enjoy!

GITM #13 She Reads Truth

Welcome to the Glorious in the Mundane podcast! I am thrilled to be talking with She Reads Truth today! You’ll hear me around the table with my new friends Raechel Meyers and Amanda Bible Willams as we celebrate their first BOOK released this week! These two gals are actually home-girls too - by that I mean that we all live in the same city and I’ve also enjoyed getting to be on the road this year with them for the Lifeway Women’s Event called Abundance! We’re going to be in Frisco, TX this month so if you’re in Texas, come see us!  Today you’ll get to hear how Raechel and Amanda became a team and what it has looked like to work together and really create break-through resources for women, men and now kids as well! Learn all about it in today’s conversation around the table with She Reads Truth!

GITM #12 Rebekah Lyons

Welcome to The Glorious in the Mundane podcast! Thank you for tuning in! Today you’re going to hear from my sweet friend Rebekah Lyons! Rebekah and I have only really been friends for over a year or so but we were fast friends and have so enjoyed living in the same small town and even going to the same church! You’re going to hear us talk about a new adventure that we have embarked on together as well as the book, You are Free (releasing in February) that Rebekah has been working on for months and months while we, her friends, have gotten to be her cheering section! Also, Rebekah is launching a FREE study today that I want to make sure that you know about it. It’s called “Be Still & Know”. You can find out all about this on her website RebekahLyons.com  I hope you all have a glorious day! Enjoy!

GITM #11 Mini Me

Hello and welcome to The Glorious in the Mundane! Today you’re going to experience what I have affectionally been calling a “Mini Me” - that means today is a shorter episode and it’s just me! As I shared on the episode a few weeks ago, this is kind of my book at this point in my life! I have stories that I’d love to to share from life, marriage, motherhood, ministry and I figure, why not? I think it’s a gift that we can spread Truth and our Jesus stories around for all to hear and I want to take full of advantage of it! Today you’ll hear me share more about living from your our true selves and what it means for us and honestly, what it means for other people around us! You’ll hear the story behind a song very near and dear to my heart called “For Your Splendor”. I pray that you are encouraged right where you are today to live from your true self…even the broken places of your story…so that you might see others! You have so much more to offer than you even realize! Enjoy and have a glorious day! Christy

GITM #10 Bob Goff

Welcome to the Glorious in the Mundane podcast! Thank you so much for tuning in and for sharing this podcast with your friends! It has been so much fun for us to watch who all is listening around the globe, it has astounded us how God is using it! We’re so grateful! I’m so pleased to have gotten to sit down with Bob Goff for this episode! I’ve actually been holding on to this episode for quite some time as it was actually my FIRST podcast ever! Bob was SO gracious to come out to the house and sit around the table with me and some of my team. We had a blast hearing his stories that continue to challenge me to this day! Bob sent me a package this week…the kids have opened a Bob Goff care package before and so this time they recognized the fun, frizzy paper, the colored balloons and taffy that cushions whatever it is he has sent your way! In this case…it was a large, red, Christmas jingle bell ornament to celebrate that our Christmas record project is funded and is having the finishing touches put on it even now! We are so beyond grateful for everyone who has invested in this project. We pray that it is as special to all of you as it is to us! Enjoy today’s episode as I connect around the table with my friend, Bob Goff and have a glorious day! ~Christy

GITM #9 Beth Moore

Welcome to The Glorious in the Mundane podcast everyone! Today my special guest is the lovely Beth Moore and I could not be more thrilled about it! Beth has been a dear friend through the years and I'm excited for you to hear from her and even how we met years ago and what she's meant in my life. I'm so honored that she took the time to sit with me and catch up. I'm also honored that Ms Beth ordered my favorite Mexican food called Lupe Tortilla (in Houston) for our after podcast treat! I love Beth so much and it was such a joy to get to be with her and her sweet team of ladies at Living Proof! Today you'll also hear me give a tribute to my mom and dad, who just celebrated their 50 wedding anniversary. We got to celebrate with them in Oklahoma this past weekend. We gathered with family and their college reunion friends to surprise them with a night to remember. My Mom and Dad were my first worship leaders as a child. The first people to point me to Jesus. Even in trying seasons, as a couple, I watched them surrender everything to Jesus, which was the best thing I could have seen growing up...surrender. Enjoy a "homecoming" today as you'll hear clips from the anniversary party, the songs we sang, the fun we had... This will go down as one of my favorites! Enjoy!

GITM #8 Ellie Holcomb

Welcome to the Glorious in the Mundane podcast! Thank you for tuning in week after week! I have been so humbled to get to sit down with so many sweet and amazing people over the past few months, it has been like drinking from a well! Today is no exception. I’m so glad that if you’ve never heard of Ellie Holcomb that you’re going to be introduced to her and her music or maybe if you’ve listened to Ellie for quite some time, you’ll get a little glimpse into her heart and her world. Ellie and her husband Drew (of Drew Holcomb & the Neighbors) are both incredibly talented musicians and singer/songwriters and you’ll even hear Ellie featured on many of Drew’s albums as well. Ellie’s dad, Brown Bannister was the producer of many early (and very successful) Christian artists like the Imperials, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman so she was raised around good, soul music her whole life. So it’s no surprise that Ellie just knows how to skillfully mesh the Word of God with that kind of music…the kind that seeps into your soul. You’ll also hear me share around the thought (and the scripture) that “all is ours in Christ” - which unfolds more of this posture of sitting in that bullseye place and living and even loving from this place. You’ll hear me even share some vulnerable moments as a Mom, leading my girls through life’s hardest question as a woman… Enjoy!

GITM#7 Audrey Assad

Hello and welcome to the Glorious in the Mundane podcast! Today, you’ll get to hear some random thoughts around Sabbath and what that has meant to me lately both as a state of mind and literally physically learning how to HAVE as Sabbath each week. Having an actual Sabbath puts this whole “Bullseye living” thing in a whole new light! You’ll hear about our family putting it to practice this past Sunday…just a little glorious humor for your mundane today. You’ll also hear about a little adventure that I recently embarked on with a couple of friends and how God showed up and surprised me in the sweetest way. And I’m also thrilled to play a song today on the podcast! I promise to do more of this in the future, including my own songs, but today you will get to hear what I think is one of the most beautiful songs ever! It was written by two friends of mine, Bryan Brown and today’s guest, Audrey Assad! Audrey is a singer, songwriter, worship leader, wife, mom and entrepreneur. She’s an independent artist like myself now but has recently started her own record label with her husband and is totally killing it. (Mom, that means she’s doing amazing!) I hope you enjoy hearing her honesty and transparency about everything in her life but particularly about becoming a mom. It’s truly insightful and beautiful. If you didn’t know Audrey before this, I hope this makes you a fan! Enjoy!

GITM #6 Jennie Allen

Welcome to The Glorious in the Mundane podcast! Today you’ll hear some rumblings around my first Christmas record currently in the making! I can’t tell you how life giving it has been, especially during some very dark days in our country, to be writing around the HOPE of Jesus. You will hear some familiar classics on this project but you’ll also hear what I hope will be some new classics centered in the person of JESUS. And…one my favorite moments of the little Texas podcast run that I did last month was getting to hang at the IF Gathering offices in Austin and sit down with my friend, Jennie Allen! Jennie is the author of “Anything” and “Restless”, two books that I know without a doubt that have literally changed people’s lives. On top of being an author and a speaker, Jennie is a mover and a shaker and is the leader of IF Gathering... a movement that exists to equip women to live in the full purpose God has for them. She’s also a Mama of 4 and wife to Zac and over all about as feisty as they come…and I’ve come to love that about her and I know you will too. Enjoy!

GITM #5: Jamie Ivey

Welcome to the Glorious in the Mundane podcast, I hope you are having an amazing week! I’m so happy to have gotten to sit down with the lovely Jamie Ivey a few weeks ago on my Texas podcast run… Jamie is beloved in the IF Gathering community of women and is one of those people who I share numerous mutual friends with but we have never really gotten to sit and chat. I met Jamie at the first IF Gathering in Austin, TX when I led worship with her husband Aaron literally only a few hours after meeting him! They are an incredibly influential team of a couple in Austin but now God is literally using Jamie all over the place through her own podcast called The Happy Hour.  In my earliest moments of breathing out the idea of wanting to do a podcast, several of my friends said, “you have to listen to Jamie!” I did, and was so inspired by her style and her ease and the way she has championed so many incredible women who are doing so many incredible things! Jamie has been a cheerleader to me through this process, even a couple of texts like “oh my gosh, I’m so proud of you!” and it has meant the world to me! I think the posture in starting anything is to look at who is already doing it well and LEARN from them! So, my interview with Jamie today you’ll find is 100% true respect and intrigue for what made her want to start a podcast and really just me being truly blown away by how well she’s going about it! I hope you enjoy my time around the table today with Jamie Ivey.  Find out about all things Jamie Ivey on her website www.jamieivey.com. You can find a link to the song Holding You Together that I spoke about here: http://christynockels.com/happy-mothers-day/

GITM #4: Lauren Chandler

Hello and welcome to the Glorious in the Mundane podcast! Today I’ll talk a little bit about the week we have just had in our nation - one we will never forget - I’m sure there are all kinds of prayers and songs rising up from the people of God over this but one that kept coming to my heart was a song that I wrote several years ago called “By Our Love”… Brothers, let us come together Walking in the Spirit There’s much to be done We will come reaching, out from our comforts And they will know us by our love… Sisters, we were made for kindness We can pierce the darkness As He shines through us We will come reaching With a song of healing And they will know us by our love The time is now, Come Church arise Love with His hands, See with His eyes Bind it around you Let it never leave you And they will know us by our love Children, you are hope for justice Stand firm in the truth now Set your hearts above You will be reaching Long after we’re gone And they will know you by your love… I’m so grateful to say that my guest today is the beautiful Lauren Chandler. She is such a dear friend to me. Lauren and her husband Matt live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area with their 3 children, 2 horses and 2 dogs, and Matt pastors The Village Church where Lauren regularly leads worship. Lauren is a wonderful woman, a lover of Jesus, a singer, songwriter and now author…but my favorite thing selfishly is that she’s my friend. Today you’ll get to hear how God intersected our lives at just the right moment about 14 years ago and how God used her in such a sweet way to change my life. Enjoy!

GITM #3: Angie Smith

Hello beautiful people and welcome to The Glorious in the Mundane podcast! Thank you so much or tuning in last week. We have been having an absolute blast putting all of this together! In fact, I just got back home from a week long podcast tour in Texas. We visited Dallas, Austin and Houston with a quick pit stop at the Magnolia Silos to grab us a Cowboy Coffee and some inspiration of course… In today’s episode I’m going to share one of my favorite stories from this journey and honestly one of my favorite stories about my husband, Nathan. You’ll get to hear more about how God began to come after my heart like never before in terms of trust and surrender. The thing was, I thought I was surrendered to Him but really it was just the beginning of me understanding how to truly open my hands and my heart to Him. It’s also sweet after all this time to look back and see God’s faithfulness! It’s so hard and scary to give up precious things but God has a way of giving them back 100 fold somehow... Also, I’m so pleased to say that my special guest today is the gorgeous Angie Smith! Angie and I have been friends for quite some time, long before she started a blog and became an author! You’re going to get to hear two friends sit and remember and laugh and marvel at God’s faithfulness. I also think you’ll enjoy hearing how we met and even hear about a special role that she played in our lives before she became an author! I don’t think you would be able to guess it if you tried! Enjoy!

GITM #2: Annie Downs

Hello there beautiful people and welcome to The Glorious in the Mundane podcast! I’m pleased to announce that today’s special guest is a new friend of mine, Miss Annie Downs. I’ve gotten to know her over the past few years as we’ve gotten to serve together on the platform but also because we have several mutual friends here in the Nashville area. Annie released a book just this past April called Looking for Lovely. I read it while on a plane headed to the Cayman Islands, a getaway I take with close friends every year, and it was just what I needed to open my heart and mind to what God would have for me as I unplugged. Annie’s “voice” is just effortless to take in as a reader and that means a lot to me since I have attention span issues, ha ha. It was a joy to read and it made me think through some things that I had not thought through before. I always love it when I discover an age old truth for the first time or at least get the chance to think about it in a whole new way. I’m grateful that Annie has been faithful to share her story. My opinion is that you can’t truly learn from someone unless they are being honest. Every good teacher or even storyteller has to incorporate enough transparency for the message to unfold in the way its intended. Annie was brave to do that and actually does that when you’re just chatting with her as well. It’s refreshing… So here’s Annie and I at my kitchen table in Franklin, TN. Enjoy!

Glorious In The Mundane Podcast - Intro

Well, as I mentioned on Instagram, I couldn’t be more giddy about the launch of this podcast! It has been a long time dream of mine to make this happen, one that I hadn’t mentioned to very many people. I honestly didn’t think it was a possibility for me so it’s just so exciting to actually see it unfold! I want to thank my husband Nathan for encouraging me from the moment I breathed out the idea and to my manager, Matt Guice for literally carrying it into fruition. I’m every grateful. In this segment you’ll be able to listen to the story behind the theme, how it all came about several years ago and why it has burned on my heart all of these years. Any time I get to teach, I usually teach on it because it’s something that I find that most everyone can relate to… We all sense that we are made for more and we have dreams and plans for Kingdom things but often we work from a place of exhaustion because we’re ultimately looking to ourselves and our performance to keep ourselves “on the map” in terms of relevance, culture and spirituality. I’d love to share just from my own experience and honestly, my own failure at times to trust God through the years as my Provider…but how God really got a hold of me several years ago and changed my mentality and honestly how I think and process "big things” and how I see the seemingly small things in a whole different way. What you’ll find in “The Glorious in the Mundane” podcast is a segment from me each time, sharing around this theme, then we’ll dive in with some very special people along the way to see what’s going on in their world but to also come around this theme in their own stories in some ways. I hope you enjoy this journey as much as I am! Thank you so much for tuning in... Talk to you soon, Christy
