Episodes

283: 'Alien: Covenant' Starring Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride

It's finally here, the highly anticipated sequel to the polarizing pre-quel to the beloved sequel - Alien: Covenant. The guys all tell us where they landed on Prometheus, as we dig into this proper Alien film (the first of three planned before meeting up with 1979's Alien). Tom looks at the sequel to the prequel as two movies at times, and prefers one over the other. Kevin longs for the days of practical effects, and it's safe to say that Joe mentions wrestling. Meanwhile Dan has a Video Recovery straight from the salt mines. It's Reel Spoilers 283. You've been warned.

282: 'Alien: Covenant' Box Office Report

The band is back together. Surprisingly enough it is Dan who makes the Monkees joke, as Tom tries to figure out who is who. Eventually we get into some box office numbers, and what do you know? There is a new champion at number one. But have no fears, number two is still making plenty of money. All this plus Joe tries to remember who was in The Neverending Story, and Kevin fondly remembers seeing The Fast and the Furious back in theaters in 2001. It's Reel Spoilers 282. You've been warned.

281: 'King Arthur: Legend of the Sword' Starring Charlie Hunnam, Jude Law

More like... King Arthur, Legend of the SNORE... amiright? Tom and Kevin tried their best to stay awake during one of the most boring films about knights and magic ever made. Although they were not 100% successful, they saw enough to know it wasn't worth what they unfortunately had to pay. So hopefully we can save you some money, and entertain while we're at it. Also, Dan is along for the ride, as he tries to understand this King Arthur movie - where Arthur isn't king, he's raised in a brothel, trained in martial arts, and there's no Merlin. Sounds fun, no? At least he has a video recovery which is worthwhile. It's Reel Spoilers 281. You've been warned.

280: 'King Arthur: The Legend of the Sword' Box Office Report

Joe is out this week, presumably making salsa or seeing 'How to Be a Latin Lover' for the fifth time. But we carry on. The movie of the week is the Guy Richie trainwreck, 'King Arthur: The Legend of the Sword,' but first - your friendly neighborhood box office report. Just how much money did the movie lose? Tune in and find out. All this plus Tom buys Dan a new musical instrument, and Kevin eagerly awaits the Blu-ray release of Beauty and the Beast. It's Reel Spoilers 280. You've been warned.

279: 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' Starring Chris Pratt, Michael Rooker, Zoe Saldana

Marvel Studios' first film of 2017 is finally here - 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.' The sequel to the surprise hit of 2014 has high expectations to meet but, as we mentioned last episode, it opened to $145 million domestically - bringing its two week total to a whopping $425 million worldwide. We think they're doing just fine. In this episode we talk about James Gunn's music choices for Awesome Mix Volume 2, the story picking up shortly after the first film left off, and how darn cute Baby Groot is. All this, plus Tom talks about how St. Louis affected the filmmaker's vision, Dan salivates over a DQ Brazier, and Kevin and Joe debate the best title sequences in cinematic history. It's Reel Spoilers 279. You've been warned.

278: 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' Box Office Report

It's probably not hard to figure out which movie ruled the box office last weekend. But we bet you didn't know that Joe is the new Gorton's fisherman! This kind of information is what you really come for. This week on the show it's a matter of how much, more than who, as we find out what Guardians brought in after its domestic opening. Meanwhile, we have a new iTunes review and Tom forces Dan to come up with a new musical outlet for his disgust. Joe braves the flood waters to make it to the studio and record, and Kevin is still amazed at how much money Beauty and the Beast is making. It's Reel Spoilers episode 278. You've been warned.

277: Return of the Attack of the Revenge of the Deep Fried Tacos

Here's part two of our calm week for movies before the storm that is 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.' So what better than some deep fried tacos? You can thank Tom for the catchy title. Rolls right off the tongue, doesn't it? The guys dive deep this week, past the salt mines and into the mud for four movies they know are bad - but they love them anyway. Dan chooses a surprising director, Kevin must have the munchies, Joe tries to decide between three movies, and Tom's choice is actually in color this week. It's Reel Spoilers 277. You've been warned.

276: 'KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park'

This week is a light one for movies, so we decided to make it a double feature. The first of two specialty episodes will tackle the made for TV movie, 'KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park.' Dan remembers watching the film the night it aired, October 28, 1978. Tom wasn't so lucky, but still remembers seeing it as a kid. Meanwhile, Kevin and Joe try to figure out just what the hell they are watching. Sit back and enjoy our discussion of this live-action Hanna-Barbera "Scooby Doo" style movie without Scooby and the gang. Also, KISS has superpowers activated by 5 talismans, and can fly. So there's that. It's Reel Spoilers 276. You've been warned.

275: 'Unforgettable' Starring Katherine Heigl, Rosario Dawson, Geoff Stults

274: 'Unforgettable' Box Office Report (4/21 - 4/23)

This week we get the band back together, as Dan returns to the show. But Joe is late. Well, you can't win 'em all...

It's the box office review, so we tell you how much money Fast & Furious 8 made this week. Its two week worldwide total may surprise you. Tom tries to figure out whether or not he can use certain words, Joey Butts talks about unicorn frappuccinos, Kevin thinks of a new name for the League of Show Sharers, and Dan talks about Disney's future with 4K Blu-rays.

All this plus the box office report. It's Reel Spoilers 274. You've been warned.

273: 'The Fate of the Furious' Starring Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham

272: 'The Fate of the Furious' Box Office Report

We're back! Just in time for three days after Easter, it's our famous recipe box office report for the number one movie in the world right now - 'Fast & Furious VIII: The Last Drifter.'

Joining us this week is Jeremy from ReviewSTL.com (don't worry, he'll talk more next episode when we aren't just crunching numbers). Tom uses his marketing wisdom to tell us what they should have called the movie, while Kevin tries to remember what the thing is actually called. And Joey Butts tries to convince us that 'The Monster Squad' is a national treasure.

It's Reel Spoilers 272. You've been warned.

271: 'Ghost in the Shell' Starring Scarlett Johansson, Pilou Asbaek, Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche

It's the movie everyone is talking about, but apparently not seeing in theaters. 'Ghost in the Shell' is the live-action remake of the beloved 1995 anime film, which is currently catching flack for "white-washing." But is it really an issue? Listen to hear what we thought. It's 2 on 1 this episode, but you'll have to tune in to find out who's who. If you listened to the last episode, you probably already have a pretty good idea. All this, plus Tom lets us in on what mechanical body augmentation he would go for, Kevin argues for his favorite Tony Scott movie of all time, and Joe learns how babies are made. It's Reel Spoilers 271. You've been warned.

270: 'Ghost in the Shell' Box Office Report (3/31 - 4/2)

Have no fear dear listener! We were able to wrestle back control from the corporate takeover last week, thanks to Joe's never-ending list of lawyers (don't ask). This week we are talking the live-action remake 'Ghost in the Shell,' but first here's the box office for the weekend. And there may even be a tangent or two. Tom reads some new iTunes reviews (thank you everyone who has been reviewing the show, it means a lot), while Kevin is still trying to figure out how to work the Zune he bought off eBay. Plus it's Bible time with Joe, so get ready for the completely accurate retelling of the story of Moses. It's Reel Spoilers 270. You've been warned.

269: 'Saban's Power Rangers' Starring Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Banks, RJ Cyler, Becky G

There comes a time in every podcast's lifespan where the hosts figure out they have no idea what they are doing. This is not news, but we finally admit it to ourselves. And so this episode is going to be a little different. The topic du jour is 'Saban's Power Rangers,' sponsored by Krispy Kreme. Don't get too excited, they sponsored the movie - not the podcast. But none of that matters anymore, because we have a new corporate structure. Tom tries his best to convince the guys that Saban's Power Rangers didn't finally win him over (we all know he watched the original series in College), Kevin writes some interesting fan-fic in real time, and Joe tells us about some weird fan-made Power Rangers film starring James Van Der Beek. It's Layne La Vanway's Reel Spoilers. You've been warned.

268: 'Life' Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, Ryan Reynolds

268: 'Life' Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, Ryan Reynolds

267: Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast' Starring Emma Watson, Dan Stevens

This week we’re down two members, as Joe and Dan are both out. But fear not, Disney-savant Jim Hill from JimHillMedia.com joins us. And who better since we’ll be discussing Disney's Beauty and the Beast? Based on the box office numbers, you’ve already seen it about six times. Plus, the cartoon has been around for 25 years, so we don’t think spoilers should be a major stumbling block for you. It’s Reel Spoilers 267. You’ve been warned.

266: 'The Belko Experiment' and Interviews w/ Sean Gunn and Michael Rooker

Before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is out this May, James Gunn brings us an appetizer in the form of an original horror film to tide us over. This episode we talk about 'The Belko Experiment,' and bring you not one, but two interviews with stars from the film - Sean Gunn and Michael Rooker.
All this, plus Tom can't remember if the director of the film also sang American Pie, Joe comes up with a plethora of euphemisms for wrenches, and Kevin tries to convince Joe that the bad Gremlin was named Stripe - and not Spike. Dan is still out, but it's probably for the best - and you'll find out why by the time you get to our shame(ful?) plugs.
It's Reel Spoilers 266. You've been warned.

265: 'The Belko Experiment' Box Office Report (3/17 - 3/19)

This week it's a tough call between 'The Belko Experiment' and 'Beauty and the Beast' - so why choose? But first things first, here is the World Famous Box Office Report.* And what kind of a show would this be without tangents? Only we can jump from the box office report to 1993's Jurassic Park, where we get into a discussion on CGI v Practical Effects: Dawn of ILM. Plus Joe gives us a fan theory for Hannibal and CSI, and Tom gives Kevin tips on how to watch Law & Order. It's Reel Spoilers 265. You've been warned.

264: 'KONG: Skull Island' Starring Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, John C. Reilly

Kong is King, or so they tell us. Listen as we discuss who the real star of Skull Island is (hint: it's not the Skulking Skull King, no matter what Tom tells you). But one thing is for sure: if you like giant gorillas punching dinosaurs in the face, we have the movie for you!
Michael is back, and we simply mute him every time he talks about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (it was a four hour podcast before the edit). Tom tries to convince us that Kong is transitioning; Kevin explains why he doesn't watch trailers. Joe sets up the story for his new pitch to Marvel: 'Sassy Photographer'; and Dan has a video recovery.
It's Reel Spoilers 264. You've been warned.
