250- Always a Bridesmaid for Hire- With Jen Glantz
A lot of people called her crazy in 2014 when Jen Glantz first put out a craigslist ad offering her services as a Bridesmaid for Hire to strangers…. but 40 brides later & a whole lot of stories saved in her brain, in her new book ‘Always a Bridesmaid for Hire’ (http://amzn.to/2jjCfRo), Jen shares the behind-the-scenes of what it's been like to start a business from that one "crazy idea", how it's really like to get off the plane and be a bridesmaid for someone she’s never met before, and of course, what her personal adventure has been like to find love, often times, in very hopeless places. I am so happy to have Jen Glantz back on the Bridechilla Podcast, to share some of her adventures, to talk about her theory that Bridesmaids are really warriors and some very handy and truth talking advice when it comes to selecting who you want to be a part of your big day and who you should ditch when it comes to your bridal party.

249- Bridechilla Wedding Planning Q&A
SO much to say about today’s Bridechilla Podcast Q&A Thursday episode. My Mother-in-Law Veronika is back to help me answer your questions! Bridechilla Graduate Annie shares some of her favourite wedding moments and what she has learned during her time as a Bridechilla. Molly would like some advice about Bridesmaids attire at her same sex wedding. How will she and her partner coordinate their bridal party attire without being match match or clashy clashy? Amanda from Boston is keen to avoid a bridal shower but would still like ‘all the gifts’! (WE LOVE THIS CHICK!) How can she still get her stand up mixer and sharp knives without having to partake in the bridal shower. Can she just add the gifts to her wedding registry? Finally Bridechilla Courtney is worried about her Mother’s attire at the wedding. How can she guide her Mum to buy something is really snazzy (and that her Mum will love wearing) when her Mum can be ‘a little unfashionable and occasionally cheap’!

248- Positive Bridechilla Body Image
I want this episode to inspire and empower us to push past the 'how much weight are you going to lose?' questions and 'sweating for the wedding' propaganda and tap into how we feel about our bodies.
Wedding planning for some Bridechilllas is a time where insecurities (that for many began in adolescence) come to the forefront. Anxiety and stress present in different ways.
I grind my teeth and wake up early. I store weight, wake up early and have moments when my heart flutters fro no reason.
As Brides we are constantly being told that we should be having a great time and enjoying every moment of the planning process, that we should smile and be grateful, that we should look our best…but who decides what ‘our best’ that is?
For many people, their self-worth hinges on their appearance- we’re told we should strive to look a certain way on our wedding day (and in life in general) but the great injustice is that we should be putting that energy into how we feel (and if that is attached to focusing on looking after your body and mind, that’s great).

Bridechilla Thursday Q&A is where it is at! A fabulously eclectic collection of questions from Bridechillas in need! Today I am delighted that we will be following Bridechilla Brittany, from www.happilyeverborrowed.com and her wedding planning. She’s super sassy, savvy and ready to overshare! Just how we LOVE it. Bridechilla Elena shares some hardcore time and moneysaving tips that will absolutely help you get you shit in order and really focus on tasks that will get your wedding planned and not just looking at ‘pretty things’ that you probably won’t use in your big day. Bridechilla Lauren is feeling stressed with all of the expectations and traditional aspects of wedding planning…should they can their city wedding in Philadelphia and instead invite a smaller group to Africa instead?

246- Keeping The Peace- Bridechilla Style
Mixing new family relationships, party planning and a bunch of cash isn’t always the easiest formula to success. You’ve got a lot of opinions and occasionally some pretty cray power plays at work…add that to different ways of communicating, (yelling, sarcasm, bossiness) and planning a wedding can turn out to be a somewhat challenging task. Today I am joined by my Mother-in-law, Veronika to talk about building new family relationships and answer some of your family related wedding planning questions!

245- Bridechilla Wedding Planning Q&A
It’s the new year which means that the Bridechilla Podcast is back with wedding planning Q&A Thursday, to solve the unsolvable and hopefully guide Bridechillas in the direction of a stress free wedding! Today, Bridechilla Kate updates us on her pre-election engagement party…were there dramas? Did it go smoothly? Did she put up a sign telling everyone to calm the hell down? Bridechilla Meg is the definition of cool… they’ve locked in all of the details without a hitch but her one big problem is her worrying MIL. How can she tell her to CALM DOWN without being rude and abrasive? I invite my MIL Veronika on (who also loves a worry!) to help answer that wonderful question. We also share a fabulous message from Bridechilla Graduate Claire, who updates us on her wedding and lessons learns from the Bridechilla Podcast!

244- Confessions of a Wedding DJ- Best of Bridechilla
One of my favourite episodes of the Bridechilla Podcast, which is filled with valuable info about how to really smash your wedding music choices! For something so imperative to creative a mood and the overall success of a wedding celebration, music is often a last minute decision or afterthought. So many couples just get someone to whack together a mixed tape (mp3!) and hope for the best? A lot more than you would imagine! In episode 107, we crack the case of creating the ideal wedding music for your big day! The job of a wedding DJs has evolved and today’s podcast guest, Tony Winyard has been Dj-ing for over twenty years! He’s worked at over two thousand weddings and has an enduring passion for helping to make weddings both memorable and fun with the entertainment that he provides. He also has 10,000+ hours experience on the club scene, both in the UK and abroad.

243- Traditions to Ditch- BEST OF BRIDECHILLA
In this Best of Bridechilla episode Aleisha looks at some of the wedding traditions that can consider ditching (or changing) to suit your needs. When it comes to wedding traditions, can you have your wedding cake and eat it too? Of course you can. Just as it takes people to start traditions, it takes people to end (or reinvent them). You are those people. You are tradition trailblazers, pioneers of new, non-hokey wedding customs! Historically the world of weddings is choc a block with old timey superstitious from yesteryear. When we delve deeper into their beginnings, it’s puzzling to see why we have clung on to them for so long…today’s show features some suggestion from Aleisha about wedding traditions that you can ditch or make your own!

242- Overcoming Wedding Stress with Dr Lindsay Bira- BEST OF
In today’s BEST OF BRIDECHILLA episode I welcome Dr Lindsay Bira, a clinical health psychologist who is here to help us with the tools to put into place to prevent stress or at least lessen the burden especially when it comes to wedding planning. Being stressed doesn’t mean you aren’t happy, or not coping…everyone manages (and recognises) stress in different ways, so in today’s show, Dr Lindsay gives us some very practical ways to alter our communication, be more mindful and hopefully by the end of the show you will be on your way to being more aware of your stress triggers and how to settle the anxiety and communicate with friends and family more productively. Dr Lindsay Bira is a clinical health psychologist functioning as a therapist, consultant and speaker in San Antonio, TX. In these episodes we hope to reduce stigma related to mental illness and mental health treatments.

241- Bridechilla Wedding Planning Q&A

I LOVE Bridechilla Q&A Thursday, it's when the straight wedding talk hits it's peak and today you bring it with the questions and I bring it with the answers.

240- Get Creative With Experiential Weddings
Today’s guest on the Bridechilla Podcast is Kim Sayatovic is the Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Belladeux Event Design, a full service wedding and event design firm based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Bridechillas continue to push the envelope with unique and experiential wedding details. Details like wedding hashtags are just the beginning- custom hashtags have been around for some time, and we’ve been seeing hashtag printers pop up everywhere for couples who want to really infuse technology into their Big Day. Kim has seen couples inviting all their guests to walk down the aisle with them, big brass bands, surprise nuptials in random public places and lots of fun with colour and costume. Couples are wanting their guests to be more involved so they are picking non-traditional venues and asking friends to help decorate, add personal touches like providing their favourite cakes, soundtracks and loosening up on traditions that aren’t meaningful to them.

239- Bridechilla Wedding Q&A: De-stress before the big day!
Bridechilla Jen has been negotiating with her ‘dream florist’ for the past month but has hit a wall in proceedings as she was hoping to add some wholesale flowers herself to bud vases as an addition to the florists work. The florist has an exclusivity contract and has refused to work with Jen if she wants to add DIY accents to her day. What to do? Bridechilla Katie has decided not to have bridesmaids at their wedding but wants to include all of her close girlfriends in fun activities without the pressure of actually dressing up and being in a formal role. How does she ask and explain without offending her friends that did have bridesmaids? Kirsty is getting married this week! She’s keen to know how to calm her nerves and feel in control and ready to enjoy all of her guests and celebrations! Happy wedding Bridechilla Kirsty!

236- Wedding Truths with Bridechilla Graduate Erica
There is nothing more satisfying than hearing from Bridechilla and Groomchilla graduates after they have celebrated their wedding day. In this episode of the Bridechilla Podcast, Bridechilla Graduate Erica joins me to share some of her wedding planning wisdom, success stories and details from their wedding celebrations that will inspire you with your wedding planning. Erica is also a very experienced wedding planner managing her company Folie à Deux Events, so it is especially helpful hearing her perspective as a bride in the know and how she handled the pressure of potentially having ‘too much info’ and separating her professional knowledge and personal wants and needs when it comes to wedding planning. She shares plenty of personal anecdotes and practical info about their wedding planning, including them eloping before their ‘real’ wedding and her take on obligation guests and how to avoid some of the more common stresses and craziness that can surround wedding planning.

235- Wedding Planner Dramas with Bridechilla Katilyn
I spoke briefly about Bridechilla Kaitlyn’s wedding planner dramas in last week’s wedding planning Q&A episode and I am happy to bring you her interview on today’s show. Kaitlyn kindly shares some of the pros and cons of hiring vendors overseas and relying on ratings and reviews to find wedding professionals. As a level headed, take no bullshit, Bridechilla Kaitlyn quickly figured out that the wedding planner that she and her fiancé hired wasn’t pulling her weight and was subcontracting the work instead of handling the job herself. As the bad reviews started to pile up and the planner took weeks to reply to Kaitlyn’s emails, she quickly made a decision to cut the cord and find new help. She shares some practical advice about how to decided if people are legit and stay calm when things go slightly off course. I know you will enjoy this show and find value in her advice and experiences! The Bridechilla App is coming very soon. Download it for free and access over 200+ ad free episodes and bonus extras! 234- We only wear pink on Wednesdays- Wedding Forums
A few months ago, I put out a request asking for your feedback about wedding planning forums. I have been lurking, making observations of the forums, especially the big forums that attract thousands of brides who are planning their weddings. Like the podcast, I think wedding planning forums are a great place to connect with like-minded brides who want to help each other and support each other through sharing ideas, inspiration and coming together as a community to make planning easier. I received a bunch of emails and screen grabs of wedding forums posts from Bridechillas, that really surprised me in one way but then also knowing how people are and the anonymity that being a part of any forum can bring, they always attract a certain level of idiot. What upset me was an attitude of ‘you ask for our opinion and we giving it to you so don't get offended’. As listeners of the show are away I am quite open with my opinions but also encourage listeners to give their feedback and share their differences of opinion in an open forum without feeling that I am some sort of totalitarian leader who can't see why you wouldn't agree with me. I get the impression that they are lots of subgroups and clicky mean girls on these forums which quite frankly I don't have time for and being predictable behaviour and ‘my way or the highway’ attitudes to weddings bores me. As I said in this episode you don't have to be a member of forums and the real gift is that there are so many great resources out there, forums and websites podcasts, you can choose to not participate and indulge nasty shit. To my surprise I did see a number of wedding vendor's participating in some pretty subpar behaviour on forums. Not great business moves in my opinion then perhaps it's a good reflection of who they are as people and how they choose to behave online in a very searchable way… I probably wouldn't be hiring after them reading some of the rubbish that they spurt, so perhaps they attract the people that they deserve. Yikes, my one hopes this episode is that I share a bit about my observations of these communities but also encourages again involved in online communities that suit you finding friends all over the world are organising their weddings, being able to share your highs and lows can be really supportive, it's just finding the right people.

233- Bridechilla Wedding Planning Q&A- Live from the car!
Last week’s Q&A episode was recorded on a plane…this week? My studio is in a hire car in a Starbucks carpark while Rich is on a site visit (he is an Architect). No matter where I record the show, my focus is always on helping you my Bridechilla and Groomchilla friends! As well as a quick recap on our wonderful visit to Maui for Bridechilla Belinda’s wedding (my cousin), I also answer questions from Bridechilla Amy, who is having problems with family disharmony and how to get around having to be the meat in the problem sandwich and placating the drama when it comes to wedding invitations and who should attend their wedding. Bridechilla Lauren is pondering how to convince her parents that their friend will make a wonderful officiant for their wedding- I share some advice to help alleviate the parental concerns for having a friend marry them and to make sure they understand that they are ’taking the wedding seriously’. The Bridechilla App is coming soon. We’re very excited to share more info with you in the coming weeks!
