102: Fix Your Body, Fix Your Swing with Joey D

I'm not sure there is a more recognizable face in the world of golf fitness than Joey D (his full last name is Diovisalvi, but we all know him as Coach "Joey D").  You've probably seen him on the golf channel, in Golf Digest, and depending on how long you've been a golf fan, you might even recognize him from his days on the bag (caddying, that is) with Vijay Singh, when we was on a winning train in the early 2000's.

Joey is known for his personality and for building champions, including this year's US Open winner Dustin Johnson, and many more!  Along with his A-list of professional clients, Joey works with golfers of all ages on building a better golf body in his incredible facility in Jupiter Florida (I've included some pics below).

In this episode of the podcast, we talk about several different topics relating to making you a better golfer. Just in this short interview, you'll get a feel for Joey's passion in what he does with his players, but also what he's trying to do to help golfers around the work make better decisions when it comes to their golf and fitness.

Customer Advocacy: How to Get People to Talk About Your Company

Are your customers advocates for your brand or business? Want to improve customer satisfaction and advocacy? To find out how to turn customers into advocates, I interview Joey Coleman. More About This Show The Social Media Marketing podcast is an on-demand talk radio show from Social Media Examiner. It's designed to help busy marketers and business owners discover what works with social media marketing. Joey Coleman joins us today. He's a customer advocacy consultant and coach who has worked with Hyatt Hotels, NASA, and Zappos. Joey's also a frequent keynote speaker and leads workshops on the customer experience and the customer journey. Joey explores what it takes to turn a customer into an advocate. You'll discover the phases that lead to advocacy. Share your feedback, read the show notes, and get the links mentioned in this episode below. Listen Now You can also subscribe via iTunes, RSS, or Stitcher. Here are some of the things you'll discover in this show: Customer Advocacy Joey's Story Joey has had an eclectic career. After college and law school, he did business consulting before working as a criminal defense attorney in the courtroom for many years. Then he taught executive education courses and ran a division of a promotional products company. About 15 years ago, Joey started his own brand experience and design firm. This led him to speak on stages all over the world, talking about how to create remarkable experiences that take someone from being a one-time customer to a customer for life. In each of his careers, Joey says, success hinged on two things. First, an understanding of human psychology (why people believe what they believe and why they do the things they do). And second, an ability to use that understanding to persuade people to take a certain course of action, whether it's a sales pitch, brochure, website, infographic, piece of evidence introduced in the courtroom, or a closing argument. Looking back, his entire career has been all about the experience; meaning the experience someone is currently having and how to make it better. While marketing firms build ad campaigns, branding agencies design logos, and graphic design firms execute the visuals, Joey looks at brand experience and how all of the different elements of a business work together. Experience is the through-line that connects everything. Listen to the show to discover how the name of Joey's business, Design Symphony, represents brand experience. Why Customer Advocacy Matters Joey thinks customer advocacy is really the end goal for most organizations. It happens when you reach the point where your customers are such big believers in who you are and what you do that they become your external sales force. Customers drive new business and increase the amount of business they do with you because they've become such raving fans, they can't help themselves. They advocate zealously for you and your business. Joey shares a brief overview of the history of business. In the 1980s, he explains, a movement came out of Japan that became known as the Total Quality Management approach to business. It was all about reducing product defects to as close to zero as possible. Out of this came things like Six Sigma Black Belt, as well as a general belief that when you buy something, it's going to work. The 1990s were all about Just-in-Time manufacturing. For example, companies like Dell shortened the supply chain through building things on demand. As a result, the computer giant could dramatically control inventory, while at the same time push prices lower. Companies started to succeed based on being the lowest-priced player in the game, while at this higher level of quality. In the 2000s, it became all about the Internet era. Businesses built websites and could make everything available globally 24/7. Then in the 2010s, everything that happened over the past three decades came together.

SYNOPSIS:

Wrestling Soup starts out with Anthony Missionary Thomas welcoming all his
homeless into his Soup Kitchen. He welcomes his co-host Joey Numbas and
informs his Homeless that Anthony Don Tony DeBlasi will be the special
guest tonight. Missionary give s a brief preview as to whats on tap for
tonight's show.

Briefly talk Daniel Bryan and also Teddy Hart. Joey makes a comparison to
Teddy Hart and cartoon Droopy Dog.... Joey then talks what kind of rules
Teddy will break if given another chance in WWE.

Missionary then informs us that "Mr. Mystery" will not be joining The Soup
Kitchen tonight, but informs us that he WILL be on next week. Missionary
describes "Mr. Mystery" as a man of his word. We then welcome Don Tony into
the show. The 3 men go right into the subjects of Teddy Hart return in WWE
and also the Daniel Bryan situation. DT calls Teddy Hart a "Baby with an
active penis" and talks about Teddy's immaturity. Joey feels he is a danger
in the ring, and Missionary wonders what is the appeal that Teddy Hart
actually has?? He wonders if bringing in Teddy would enhance The Hart
Dynasty in any way. DT and Joey both feel he would "Rock the Boat" so to
speak.

They then briefly move on to the Martha Hart lawsuit against WWE. All 3 men
have strong opinions on this. Missionary feels it is a leverage move for
power, due to Linda McMahon running for office. Joey talks about how WWE
never used Owen in any sort of negative light. "They never put him in a
duck suit with a Hitler mustache",is how he put it. DT refers to how Martha
Hart will always try to portray WWE as evil and the ones who killed Owen.
Where as the WWE just would like to honor the man,but Martha always halts
the process.

Missionary then sets up The Daniel Bryan audio clip of him cutting a promo
after an indie match. They discuss whether or not Daniel Bryan or Bryan
Danielson can really bring people back to independent wrestling shows. DT
then reads in full the blog that Danielson had written that day. Missionary
calls Danielson "The poster-boy for indie wrestling". DT compares Danielson
to an off Broadway sideshow, that's just there. The men discuss also
wanting to pay attention to indie attendance figures pre-Daniel Bryan, and
post-Daniel Bryan.

Don Tony then interrupts and has to blow off a little steam on those in the
chat room complaining he was boring. He talks about how his fans always
question his tongue-in-cheek humor, and said "If you don't like it,
...Don't fucking listen!!"

Missionary gives us his review of the Maria YouShoot interview, and was not
pleased with it. They then discuss the difference between one of Sean
Olivers interviews and Rob Feinsteins. Joey says that Kayfabe Commentaries
are way more enjoyable than RF's due to Feinstein always seeming to ask the
questions as if he knew the answers already. DT praises Kayfabe due to
having the balls to ask the tough questions. Also they preview the upcoming
Dixie Carter YouShoot, and rip on her hard for being an idiot for drug
testing herself and not doing drugs. Missionary also predicts the
confrontation between Dixie and James E Corrnette will be interesting.

They then move on to Samoa Joe and his lack of dietary habits. Missionary
notes the pigment in Joes skin changed from off tan, to a Sheamus like
pasty white by the end of his match on Impact. The men ponder the length of
Samoa Joe's future in the wrestling biz'.Missionary wonders if Joe chops up
his Little Debbie snack cakes and snorts them, while DT says Joe is hooked
up with an iv to White Castle vanilla shakes.

Missionary then has DT read off a very bizarre letter he had received from
The Ultimate Warrior. They then try to dissect as to what the hell he was
trying to say in it. Then discuss
