Welcome to Murder and Mayhem – the podcast where we explore the dark and mysterious side of writing. It’s a world filled with more evil and crime than you can shake a sharpened stick at – where people save the world from certain destruction, where spies, terrorists and thugs abound, and where the killer could be someone in your very own home. It's also a world often filled with flawed heroes and likeable villains. But above all, it’s a place where we explore the authors who tell these very stories – what makes them tick and how their words manage take us to some of the darkest corners of our imaginations... You're Welcome is a satirical improv comedy show that is a hybrid of Howard Stern and Prairie Home Companion. Our goal is to find and share peoples stories, from all over NYC. ABOUT YOU'RE WELCOME Like most brilliant ideas, this show was started over a molotov concoction of alcohol and various illicit substances. Zoe had given up on her life long dream, of being the female Howard Stern years ago but finally set out armed with a folding table, a couple lawn chairs, and a foam board sign that read "Free Sex Advice." One by one strangers stopped what they were doing and sat down to talk to them about their lives. We'd like to take this moment to thank you for coming to our site and leave you with the eternal words of Oscar Wilde: "I was under the impression that inordinate joviality can atone for an entire lack of class" ABOUT ZOE When Zoe's Pre K teacher told her parents that she had best negative leadership qualities she had ever seen in 20 years of teaching," her family knew they were in trouble. After professionally taking up space all over the world for years, traveling extensively throughout South America and Europe, Zoe went to school in Charleston South Carolina, where she stuck bumper stickers like "Bush Lies" "Keep You Laws Off My Body" "It's a Choice Not a Child," on the back of her car and was then shocked when 8 tired super charged red necks hopped up on Mountain Dew would try to kill her. Since she was the sole representative for Yankees and Jews, she probably set both causes back a century. In college she lived with three wonderful European men who introduced her to the electronic music scene. The love of this music caused her to have brief yet passionate love affairs with Paris and Berlin, finally deciding to settle down and marry New York City. For the last 29 years hurricane Zoe has swept through countless countries leaving a cornucopia of chaos and laughter in her wake. She lives in Williamsburg, Brooklyn with her mini polar bear cub Singa Nightingale ABOUT JIMMY VALLANCE Half of the incredibly Bob Moses Duo, hailing from the cold snowy tundras of canada. Jimmy mastered the art of recording, wrapping cables and setting up audio equipment from an early age. His knowledge of manipulating and mastering sound can only be matched by his fine taste in whiskey, maple syrup and hockey teams. His ability to edit each episode without shedding a single teardrop has made him an essential part of the "you're welcome" team. https://soundcloud.com/the-bob-moses Check out all their music here

One of Russia’s best and most well-known DJs, Alexandra Waks was born in St Petersburg but lived in Germany between the ages of 12 and 17. She got into electronic music through breakdancing and hip-hop parties, and after returning to St Petersburg she scored a hip-hop radio show on Russia's biggest radio station. She also started putting on the InBeatWeTrust nights with hip-hop in the main room and electronic music in the other. Simultaneously she worked at the big events company Contrforce that staged huge festivals like Soundtropolis, May Day and the World Of DNB. At her IBWT nights she started doing the warm-up DJ slots herself, and her love of broken rhythms led to Waks and her "In Beat We Trust" nights becoming synonymous with the growth of breakbeat in Russia. Based in St-Petersburg, IBWT has done nights and festivals all over Russia. They put on the world’s first breakbeat festival in the mid-noughties, and hosted stages at events like the huge "MAYDAY" parties in Russia and the wild, legendary Kazantip Republic in the nearby Ukraine where Waks has booked stage line-ups for the past five years. Having perfected her DJ skills and become a cracking DJ herself, Waks started touring the world — playing everywhere from China to Australia, Spain to Miami, Germany to Siberia. She started producing too, releasing tracks on renowned labels such as "West", "Bass Planet" and Deekline’s "Rat Records". Her joke track with Hardy Hard on "MENUmusic", ‘Minimal’, caused a stir right across Europe as it gently lampooned the low-key simplistic form of techno that was in-vogue at the time, and she started "In Beat We Trust" Music to feed more music by herself and others back into the scene. Waks is now established as one of the principal DJs in the international beats & bass music scene, right up there alongside Stanton Warriors, Krafty Kuts and Leeroy Thornhill (ex-Prodigy) — playing everywhere from Love Parade in Berlin to top clubs like Fabric in London. She’s received a fistful of Breakspoll nominations in recent years — for Best DJ, Best Radio Show, Best Producer etc — and has recently been touring a lot with German rave legend Westbam under the "Electric Kingdom" banner. Her weekly radio show on Radio Record — the biggest radio station in Russia — continues to reach 84 cities in this fast-growing, huge market for electronic dance music, and — with a keen eye for art, design and photography — Alex has also recently launched her own clothing line and hosted an exhibition of her innovative design work. All the designs for IBWT — flyers, posters, stickers and logos — are done by Alex herself. An amazing DJ, a multi-talented one-woman industry — is there nothing this diminutive powerhouse can’t do?
