We consider Dan S one of our home group members, even though he considers us a side piece to his regular home group Saturday Night Into Action!
I love me a man who stays focused on the basics of AA.

This episode sounds like we are in a hall...because we were in a party room together and online!
We picked up where we left off talking about Step 10 and Step 11. Today we are on page 86 half way down the page it begins "On awakening..". The beautiful essence of Step 10 and 11 is that we are developing a daily conscious contact with a power greater than ourselves. When we tap into this never ending resource of ultimate power, we can meet any challenge and face life's demands and remain sober and emotionally balanced.

I thought I would share some of the simple prayers that can be found right in the Big Book and the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions. I also share a few others that have helped me along the way.
The bottom line in my recovery is this...God is either everything or God is nothing....which is it? I had to make a decision. Was I willing to believe or not. This is what they call the turning point, the jumping off place. I can't really move forward until I take this step.
I went from disbelief to belief with the act of willingness. I started to pray long before I believed in anything. I just knew, my way had not been working.
I hope this helps you.
Love and Light
Lisa

I've known Bruce for a couple of years now and he's the kind of guy you just like instantly.
I love him because he has an amazing recollection and respect for the history of Alcoholics Anonymous. I love him for his dedication to carrying the message of AA.
I love him cuz when we ask for help, he honors the AA code and always says yes.
And on Tuesday November 5th, 2024 wish him a happy 38 year anniversary.
Check out his big book study sometime! Tuesdays at 530pm eastern time in this zoom room.

Kellie Adams has been sober for 10 years. She has lifey problems and challenges just like the rest of us but today, she does that shit sober.
Her new book is launching soon so we got together to chat about it.
Shit I do Sober, a new book by Author Kellie Adams.

I asked Ed to come speak at our meeting but was working the actual day he spoke. But I'd heard him before and know he carries THE message of Alcoholics Anonymous.

So funny that I've been going to online meetings for 3 years now and I finally found out our next speakers home group...it's a group in my very own city!
Shannon is one of those educated, intelligent ladies I always used to envy. Instead of realizing that I could be that too but it would require work and dedication on my part!
Just another reminder of the disease of my thinking, I want everything instantly and without an effort.
This is Shannon from the Mount Royal Group in Toronto, Canada.

Today my dear friend Sarah C from the Beaches Group in Toronto celebrates 9 years of continuous sobriety and a changed way of living.
I thought the talk I gave at the home group I "made her" join when she moved to a different part of the city would be a good way to honor her commitment to this way of living.
She always jokes about how I give her orders or make her do things, then she expresses gratitude for listening because everything I've ever suggested was nothing more or less than what I had to do myself to get and maintain my sobriety.
She also loves to tell the story to anyone who works with me how easy they have it, for when she started working with me she wanted to be my friend and I told her one day "I'm not here to be your fucking friend Sarah! I'm here to help save your fucking life."
It was this way for me too. My sponsor got frustrated with my balking and whining about life one day and said "your thoughts and feelings are what's wrong with you Lisa so why don't we put them on a shelf for now. I'm not here to be your therapist and I'm not here to be your fucking friend. I have to care more about saving your life than whether or not you like me or I hurt your feelings."
It made sense that my sponsor had done more to help me than any friend ever could, by the very fact that he wasn't motivated by keeping a friendship alive but instead motivated by keeping ME alive.
In learning to sponsor this way, Sarah and I have become the closest of friends. We have learned that Iron sharpens Iron and a true friend doesn't just agree or co-sign another's bullshit.

Bea is a regular at her home group...still. Yes she is one of THOSE as many a newcomer has pondered "why do they still keep coming after all these years?".
Listen and find out.

Today we are picking up on page 76 if you want to follow along...and I suggest you do...with highlighters and a notebook. :)
I also throw in a few references to a wonderful #hazeldon resource known as Drop the Rock. It might not be AA approved literature but I can't recommend this little gem enough especially when it comes to a deeper understanding of steps 6 through 8!
don't forget if you are listening but want to participate, our big book study happens every second Saturday at 10am est in the AA Solution Seekers zoom room - all are welcome.
You can also follow me on instagram for links to the show.

I've personally known V for a while now. She was a long time listener of 2 sober chicks and would often write us. It was so nice she reached out when I started this new show.
She is one of us and today talks about a number of things many of us can relate to along this journey to recovery: the past and how it affected us; present struggles like mental health issues and how AA has taught us these are valid but they are NOT excuses or reasons to not recover; and ghosting a sponsor....who hasn't done that to our own peril at least once on this journey?
I hope you enjoy her story as an impromptu speaker who answered the call when a speaker was needed.
thank you V (sparkles).

This was my first time being asked to speak at a roundup. It was so much fun to travel outside of my area and visit another area to carry the message.
It would be this speaking engagement that lead to my invite to Peurta Vallarta Sobriety Under the Sun Conference. #SUS
I don't consider this one of my best talks, but someone in the audience heard a message that spoke to him. He was on that speaker seeker committee and he submitted my tape.

Still Into Action we cover pages 75 to 76 discussing step 5 through 7.
-
Mark Lundholm has seen and experienced the bottom of life. He was a criminal at 13, an addict and former coke dealer, a check forger, homeless at 27, and did prison time for bank fraud. His amazing story how he turned his life around is an inspiration to anyone in recovery.
Mark takes us through the diseased thinking of First Thought Wrong.
-
Carl belongs to a couple of home groups but he makes Solution Seekers one of them.
Carl is a cook on a ship and he shares his recipe for success in recovery.
-
Today I go through Step 4 and it only took just over 30 minutes. So if I can teach it in 30 minutes....you can do it in a few hours or a day at the most. Pen to paper. Get at it.
-
Today I wanted to show everyone that the 12 Steps can actually be taken in as little as 12 hours!
Listen in and take them with us. Bring a friend, come with your sponsor!

Another special one for me, this little gem of a human lives an ocean away from me and yet we connect through the language of the heart.
Karolina originated from Poland and has made a life in her home of London in the United Kingdom. She is sober just over 3 years, active in service and sponsors women. She found her true self on page 63 of the big book and has been sky rocketed into the fourth dimension of existence having incorporated the book's wisdom into her daily life.
She is one of those friends in my life that I regard as a sharpening instrument put in my path by God's grace. Iron sharpens Iron.
This is her story.
And join us live 7 days a week if you want to start your day right.
