Episoder

  • In this week’s episode, we continue with Part 2 of our deep dive into the Evolution of the Business of Health by exploring the reasons why so many smart, qualified and purpose-driven practitioners, coaches, and fit pros fail when there’s an abundance of opportunities for us out there.

If you haven’t listened to Part 1 in the podcast series, then click here to go back and listen to that one first -- or you can listen to it after you listen to this one. Whatever works for you!

It’s never been easier to start and grow a business in the health and wellness industry but I see too many of you start to doubt yourselves and let the fear take over. So, I share with you the #1 indicator that will predict your success. And no, it doesn’t involve Facebook groups and it doesn’t depend on the size of your email list. Not even close.

As you listen to the first part of the episode, I invite you to let down your guard and be open to what we’re sharing because this may trigger some of you when we talk about self-belief and confidence. I get super vulnerable, too, by sharing a deeply personal story of how my business journey started. I want to show you that you’re not alone with your doubts and fears.

We then shake things up a bit -- literally, if you play along during the episode -- when we get into my three-step technique to create your own personal anchoring experience. Yup, music is involved and we’ll dance it out a bit.

Then, the head of my 10K Success System -- the ah-mazing Laura Wood -- joins me to have a bit of fun with a David Letterman-style bit called, The Top 10 Things You Need You To Stop Doing Now If You Want to Be Successful. It’s not just a simple list though -- we get into why you need to stop doing these things, too.

You might want to listen to this episode a couple of times, so be sure to download it -- and click here to get the worksheet that goes along with this episode.

Take notes. Lots of notes. Then, pick out your favorite song and dance it out...

What We Talk About In This Episode:

The number one predictor of success -- and no, it has nothing to do with your business skill set, level of expertise or startup budget. The powerful exercise I use with my clients when they are two miles away from the finish line and start to freak out. My own story of what it’s like to believe in yourself before you have any certainty -- and before you have any money or support. The three-step technique we use to build the requirement for success. How confidence actually works -- and the four C’s to grow your confidence that I learned directly from one of my greatest mentors. The reason why so many smart, qualified and purpose-driven practitioners, coaches, and fit pros fail. I share with you my anchor experience -- including my anchor song -- that helps shift my state of being into a more positive one. Plus I give you examples you can draw on to create your own anchor experience. The top ten things you need to stop doing right now if you want to be successful.

  • This week’s episode kicks off something very special for The Business of Becoming podcast.

Over the next four episodes, we are going to dig deep -- and I mean real deep -- into the evolution of the business of health and the abundant opportunity that’s waiting for you out there.

I’ve been in the health and wellness industry since 1999, so I’ve been a witness to just how much our industry has changed over the years. And let me tell you, there has never before been as much opportunity in alternative health and fitness as there is right now.

Now you might be thinking differently because there are millions of free health and fitness articles, videos, blogs, and apps that people can access.

But the truth is this: at the end of the day, your clients require human connection, coaching, and accountability. All those free generic pieces of content or free YouTube videos cannot hold a candle to you and your level of commitment to ensuring that your clients get the results that they desire.

Over the next four podcast episodes -- which are based on my seven-part The Evolution of the Business of Health video mini series -- you’ll learn why so many health practitioners and coaches are struggling to grow a business. And I’ll also give you step-by-step instructions to take action and grow your business.

In this first part, I take you through a timeline of the evolution of business in our industry -- dating back to the dawn of civilization and moving all the way up to today, including how tech has changed how we do things now.

I want you to see we are in fact living in a time of massive opportunity. Make no mistake about that -- and have no doubts -- despite what you see out there online.

I also touch on the three core concepts that have the ability to change the trajectory of your business -- and your life. (And we’ll take a deep dive into those core concepts in later episodes.)

Let’s start where we all need to start if we want to understand something: at the beginning.

What We Talk About In This Episode:

How we moved through the evolution of alternative health: from the dawn of civilization to when we started to conceptualize the idea of “health.” What Hippocrates brought to the table by helping Western medicine shift from religious to the rational. The history of telemedicine practices, from what seemed like a fantasy to what we can do today with modern technology. When the hypothesis that exposure to extreme stress can cause health problems first appeared. (Hint: it’s not as recent as you may think!) Why the discovery that the brain and immune system talk to each was so important. How modern technology -- like the internet, iPhones, e-commerce websites -- changed the business of health. Why there is plenty of room for your own online business, even if you think the market is crowded. Why people aren’t getting the results they desire despite the millions of free health and fitness articles, videos, blogs, and apps. Why more information isn’t going to solve the health crisis, and what you can do as an alternative practitioner, coach or fitness pro. Why the business model you were taught isn’t going to give you the business -- and the life -- that you want and deserve. How being told by my then-sales manager that I was going to be fired pushed me to create my own business under my own terms. How I’ve gone beyond that to create a multi-million dollar company showing health practitioners, coaches, and fit pros how to take their health practice online. The three core concepts that can change the trajectory of your business

    Your Facebook Group: *crickets*

If the sound of crickets is all you hear in your Facebook group, then this episode of The Business of Becoming is going to help you get the buzz you’re looking for by getting people excited about your group and getting them to engage in your group by posting comments and giving your posts a thumbs up.

My guest today, Alicia Streger, is a fitness business owner turned business coach who specializes in helping fitness business owners magnify their impact and streamline their business. She’s also the creator of the 2020 Facebook Group Content which gives you an entire year’s worth of Facebook Group content designed to boost retention, generate more leads and keep the conversation buzzing in your Facebook Group.

In this episode, Alicia not only gets into the nitty-gritty details of running your Facebook Group -- like the best times to post and the very first thing you need to do when members join your group -- she also walks you through her “5 X 5 X 5” content creation strategy. (This framework gives you 125 pieces of content you can post in your Facebook Group.)

Even if you don’t have anybody in your group yet -- because everybody starts out with zero members, right? -- this episode will give you the strategies you need to get the ball rolling.

Get out a pen and paper so you can take plenty of notes. We dig in deep with tons of tips and strategies to increase engagement in your Facebook Group.

What We Talk About In This Episode:

Why creating your own Facebook group is important to your business -- even if you think there are tons of them out there already. The real reason why people join Facebook groups. (Hint: it’s not to learn how to solve their problem.) What “engagement” is vs what it isn’t (it definitely isn’t a place for you to do free coaching). How to get the ball rolling to create engagement in your group, so you can then bring people into your signature program. Specific strategies to initiate engagement and keep it high. The very first thing you need to do when people join your group which sets the tone of the group right from the start. How to craft an engaging welcome post (see the template down below, too). How to use Group Insights to know the best day and time to post your content to create engagement. One neat trick to see when people are active if you don’t have a large group. How to use mini-challenges to create engagement in your group -- and get Facebook to show your group as a suggested group to more people. How to use your support system to get things moving in the group (yup, it’s okay to ask your family and friends to post something in your group or ask a question). Different ways to encourage people to engage even more often by thanking them privately. Why you shouldn’t be in teacher-mode all the time in your Facebook group. We take a deep dive into Alicia’s “5 X 5 X 5” content creation strategy to give you the framework to create your own engaging content. How to use your ideal client profile to help you use the “5 X 5 X 5” strategy specific to your ideal client’s pain points. Tips on how to not only plan your time but schedule it, too, so you can consistently create and post engaging content in your Facebook group.

  • Wow, can you believe we’re moving into 2020? Crazy, right? We’ve got about a month before the clock strikes midnight and the decade is over.

Personally, I love a deadline so I get a lot done before New Year’s hits. What about you? How do you want to feel about your business on December 31st?

The reason I’m asking is... you’ve got about a month left to #GSD and hit the ground running for 2020.

If you haven’t done any planning yet, no worries. This week’s episode of The Business of Becoming is going to walk you through it all, step-by-step. I’m hoping it will give you the clarity — and the confidence — to reach your goals in 2020 and beyond.

And if you’re wondering where to start when it comes to planning for the new year, it’s pretty simple: You’re a CEO. You’re a founder. So, you start with... the numbers.

Whether you made $0 or $150k (or more) in 2019, planning your goals without the numbers — meaning things like your annual revenue goal — will get you nowhere fast. I’ve been able to double my revenue almost every year since I started paying attention to the numbers in my business.

You also need to know what’s working in your business — and what isn’t working. You need to find what I call “the bleeders.” These are the holes in your business that stop you from growing.

This episode takes you through the steps to not only plan your financial goals for 2020 but helps you figure out exactly what you need to work on for the first quarter. (That's right, only for the first quarter. I’ll tell you why you shouldn’t plan too far ahead in the podcast.)

By the end of this 2020 planning workshop, you’re going to have:

An annual revenue goal. An annual revenue goal broken down by program/service offering (if you have more than one product.) The number of clients you need to acquire to hit that goal. Rankings for each of the 5+1 components that make up your business. A brainstorm of what you *could* do to improve each component. A Q1 action plan based on the 5+1 component rankings. A fluid list of the launches, sales promos and offers you want to have over the year with dates for each.

And if all that is making you feel a little sweaty, I want you to switch around your mindset. I want to hear you say, “I am SO excited to learn this! I’m not going to flip out. I’m going to listen and learn.

Let’s make a deal: you do this planning for 2020 now and then what I want to see happen is that you end 2020 by sending me a DM saying, “Whoa! I did it! I hit my sales goal!” Deal? I’d LOVE to celebrate with you.

So, click here to download the planning worksheet, hit the play button down below and let’s take on 2020!

What We Talk About In This Episode:

Why you need to evaluate your current situation based on what we call the 5+1 components of your business. (Tip: If you realize you’re ranking low on any of these components or you’re not happy with your rankings, set up a 10K Success System call.) How you need to schedule a meeting with yourself to get this done — and the best place to have this meeting. Why you shouldn’t be planning out your entire year and why it’s better to do some things on the fly. How you need to take into consideration where you are in your business-building journey. (Hint: it doesn’t matter *where* you are, just as long you *know* where you are.) Why you need to consider what season of your life you’re in, so you can set yourself up for success when planning. How to be realistic about how much bandwidth you have — what we call “brain-focused time” — and why you need to build that into your plan. Why you need to take yourself seriously as a CEO if you want to get your business rockin’ and rollin’. How to set your annual revenue goal based off of last year’s revenue — and don’t worry if that’s $0. Why you don’t have a plan if you don’t have an annual revenue goal. How to break down your annual goals if you have more than one offer or product. How the 5+1 components framework shows you where your business is weak so you can work to make it stronger (and more profitable). We take a deep dive into each of the 5+1 components. How to rank each of the 5+1 components on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 being weak) so you can not only plan what you need to do but prioritize as well. What to do for each of the 5+1 components based on the rankings you gave them. How to plan out what you need to do for Q1.

  • If you’re a health practitioner, coach or fit pro wondering what it’s like to get personalized guidance on your signature program and your online business, then you are going to love this episode.

What you’re going to hear in this episode is five separate Wellness Business Academy clients getting coached by either myself or Michelle Waithe (who is our expert when it comes to creating program methodology).

These clips are from actual group coaching calls, which we do live twice a month in the Wellness Business Academy’s exclusive, members-only Facebook group.

During these calls, we review your Wellness Business Academy (WBA) content — like ideal client profile, your niche, program and sales page overviews, and more — and give you personalized strategies so you can keep moving forward to ultimately create your own signature program as the foundation for your online wellness business.

One thing I want you to do while listening to today’s episode: while you’re hearing other people get coached, see if it sparks any ideas and AHA moments — and see whether it gets you all fired up to take action for your own business.

And if it does get you fired up, I want you to then imagine what it would be like if you were part of the WBA and could ask your *own* questions about your *own* business directly to either myself or Michelle in our monthly coaching calls…

Personalized mentorship and coaching is powerful stuff, my friend.

The Wellness Business Academy opens for enrollment on November 19th, 2019. So, listen in to how we coach your peers and colleagues — and then click here to get more details about the Wellness Business Academy, including a pretty sweet fast-action bonus if I do say so myself.

What We Talk About In This Episode:

We take a deep dive into the scarcity mindset (thinking you’re limiting your audience — and sales — by targeting certain people) and why targeting a specific audience can actually increase sales. How you need to limit your audience so you become the go-to expert everybody is talking about, and make a name for yourself. Why you need to get firm about your philosophy and create a signature program that reflects your methodology. Strategies you can use to figure out who you want to help (your ideal client) and what problem you want to solve for them (your niche). What you need to figure out before you can brainstorm ideas for your signature program. How your signature program needs to have specific actionable tasks instead of just teaching things to your ideal client — plus plenty of examples to help you brainstorm. Why you need to relate these actionable tasks in a full circle back to the problem your client is having so you can create a signature program that solves your client’s specific problem. Why you need to remember that you are not your ideal client — and why you need to make sure your program isn’t too advanced for them. How you need to create actionable tasks your ideal client can actually do and to put them in a logical order to help them succeed. How to generate more leads while you’re beta testing (or at any time), and different ways to get in front of your audience so you can bring them into your world.

  • Tell me if this sounds familiar: You’ve been trying to make sales and enroll people into your signature program, and all you hear is...

“I’d love to but it’s too expensive.”

    “Can I think about it?”

Or what about this one that sounds like a real deal-killer:

“I need to talk to my spouse.”

Believe me, I can relate. I’ve been there.

The first time I got the old “Wow, I didn’t think it would be THIS expensive to work with you,” I had no idea how to respond.

Now I have a deep understanding of what objections are -- and how to handle them before they even occur. That’s right: BEFORE they happen.

In this episode of The Business of Becoming, we take a deep dive into objections: what they are and where they really come from (it’s not the price) -- plus I give you examples of the three most common objections and how to handle them. (You can use these as a framework for different objections over and over again.)

Before we get started, I want to mention that I have a brand new guide for you. It walks you through how to create and set up your signature program. Grab it here: The Signature Program Starter Guide

All right, get ready to take lots of notes and do plenty of brainstorming. I’m going to show you how to overcome the most common objections when it comes to making sales and enrolling clients in your program.

What We Talk About In This Episode:

Why it’s important for you to understand what’s going through your prospective client’s mind before they see you: their thoughts, fears, and mindset. The real root of objections -- and what objections are and what they’re not. (Hint: Objections are not a reflection of you or your program.) How to overcome objections even before they occur. Why knowing your ideal client’s symptoms is not enough. You need to know their “lived experiences.” (I go into detail about what this means in the show.) Why you should be creating content that addresses these objections on an on-going basis (especially if you’re always enrolling prospects into your program). How to bring the objections to light and address them head-on through your content. The top three most common objections when it comes to sales and how to handle them. How you can use my examples as a framework that you can apply to your specific client objections. The simple answer as to why the actual dollar amount of your program has nothing to do with the “it’s too expensive” objection. How to use your prospective client’s outcome-based feelings and experiences to show them how your program can help them -- and a few specific questions to ask them if they still have a price objection. Different strategies to use for the “I have to talk to my spouse” objection, including creating what I call “spousal content” that helps your prospective client communicate with their spouse. How to help people work through the “How do I know this will work for me” objection, including using visual cues and having a framework of your program.

How To Talk To Your Spouse/Partner:

I’d like to talk to you about how I’ve been feeling. You know I’ve been struggling with X. You know that I’ve been working on trying to get rid of X and I haven’t been able to do it yet. I now know why. I had a call with (your name) who works with (ideal client description) because it’s important to me to get rid of/fix/feel better/get (outcome). I’m done feeling XYZ.

She explained to me that in order to (get desired outcome) that I need to (root cause). I feel extremely confident in her knowledge. Everything she was saying made so much sense. I am going to enroll in her program, it costs XXXX and I would really appreciate your support. It’s important to me that I (get rid of the problem) so that I can (desired outcome).

  • Over the years, Dr Josh Wagner has discovered that the single greatest factor that causes procrastination, self-sabotage and that feeling of being stuck is an undeserving belief. That deep down, people feel they don’t deserve success for a variety of reasons -- and they get in their own way when it comes to success. Dr. Wagner is the creator of The Deserving Process and leads seminars all over the world, helping people get back their “deserving belief.” He believes it’s never too late to move from where you are to where you want to be. A lot of it comes down to giving yourself permission to believe that you deserve success.

This conversation was one of the most meaningful to me -- and it could be triggering for some of you. But that can be a good thing. You can’t overcome what you don’t acknowledge, right?

What We Talk About In This Episode: The single greatest factor that causes procrastination, self-sabotage and feeling stuck. How once you clear up your “undeserving” belief, you'll take the same actions but your results will be different. How success comes down to giving yourself permission to believe that you deserve success. Specific examples of how an “undeserving” belief shows up in your life. The one keyword you can use to figure out if your undeserving belief is holding you back. It would mean the world to me if you’d leave a rating and review. • Today’s episode with my guest, Alan Stein, Jr., is a must-listen if you’re having trouble moving forward. We had an amazing conversation about how to reach your highest potential -- and it might surprise you to know that taking one small action each day can help you do that.

Sounds counter-intuitive, right? But thinking like a top performer doesn’t mean making sweeping changes. That just makes you feel overwhelmed. You need the mindset of a winner, you need to be super self-aware, and you need to take specific, intentional actions to keep moving forward.

What We Talk About In This Episode: How finding the intersection between what you love to do and what you’re really good at can bring happiness, purpose, and success. Why “performing” is not just for athletes and entertainers -- and how it’s involved in every part of your life. Why you need to level up and raise your game to become the best version of yourself. Why you need to not just learn new things but you need to implement what you learn and take action, too. How getting clarity on who you want to become actually simplifies your life. The key components to closing the performance gaps -- those gaps between who are now and who you want to become -- in the different areas of your life. What to do when your goals and your daily habits are not in alignment.

  • If you’ve been in my world for any length of time, you know I am obsessed with signature programs, right? Wanna know why? Because it was only when I created a signature program that I was able to scale my business into what it is today: a thriving, multi-million dollar company that keeps growing year after year. What gets me going is this: creating a signature program allowed me to have an impact on so many lives. I impact the lives of my clients when I teach them how to create a signature program -- and then they go on to impact even more lives when they create (and sell) their signature program. Win-win! This episode is where I dish on all the details about signature programs: why you should have one, what a signature program is (and isn’t) -- and so much more. This episode might generate lots of ideas -- get ready to take lots of notes and jot down any ideas you get while listening to the episode. What We Talk About In This Episode: How dramatically the alternative health and coaching industry has changed over the years. Why renting an office space or getting a job at a gym won’t help you to scale your business. Why you need to create a signature program, even if you don’t have client experience. The reasons why it doesn’t matter if there are other signature programs being sold online. (Hint: none of those other programs were created by you!) What clients are actually investing in when they buy your signature program (it’s not for the meal plans, PDS, workout videos…) We take a deep dive into what a signature program is… and isn’t. The two critical things you need to know first before creating your signature program. What I learned when I opened my office as an RHN...and the clients didn’t come flocking in like I thought they would. The five components you need to build that make up the ecosystem of your business. (And yup, creating a signature program is one of the components.) • Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been in business for a while, there usually comes a point where you’re struggling to get clients. You “think” you’re doing everything right. You’re creating content, hoping like hell Google will send traffic your way or that somebody will find your Facebook page. But let me tell you: the industry has changed over the years. You can’t rely on organic traffic (like traffic from Google Search) to get clients anymore. You need to be purposefully bringing in new ideal clients into your online world, so you can turn them into paying clients. How do you do that? How do you keep the waters churning so you’re spreading your message to the people you want to work with? Simple answer: paid advertising. More specifically, Facebook and Instagram ads. If you think you can’t do Facebook advertising, think again! You don’t even need to know tech. We get real actionable in this episode, so get out your notebook and pen as we walk you through getting more clients using Facebook ads. What We Talk About In This Episode:
How Facebook treats the health and wellness industry differently when it comes to Facebook ads. How using certain words can get your Facebook ad account shut down hard. Why the ability to get in front of your potential clients through organic reach (like traffic from Google) is non-existent. Why blog posts and social media alone just doesn’t work in this day and age. The reason why your first launch might do great but your second launch fizzles out. (Hint: it’s a numbers game.) • If you’ve ever imagined making 10k+ a month with your online health practice -- whether you’re a health practitioner, coach or fit pro -- then this episode is going to help you stop “imagining” what making 10k a month would be like. It’s going to help set you on the path of “I want this! What’s my next step to make this happen?” I invited four of my 10K Success System clients to have a no-holds-barred, honest-as-hell, round-table discussion on their insider secrets to making 10k+ a month. You know me, no BS. I asked them not to filter themselves. And while you need a proven system (like the 10K Success System) for the how-to’s, the funny thing is, we don’t actually talk about tactics and strategies, like automated webinars or funnels, in this episode. What we get into are the personal transformations you need to go through to grow your business, how hard it is to push yourself outside of your comfort zone -- and why you need to become the leader you need to be for your clients. You will have questions after you listen to this and you might even want more information on how you can work with me and my team. So if that’s true, you can book a free breakthrough call at https://thewbh.com/breakthrough or find me on Instagram and DM me and I'll hook you up with the link. What We Talk About In This Episode:
How difficult it is to hear that things needed to be changed to grow your business -- and how letting go and trusting the 10K Success System process resulted in tremendous growth. How if you want your clients to change you need to be able to change, too. Why charging a low price for your program and trying to sell it a million times doesn’t work. How letting go of some of the control makes you feel like you’re more in control. Why modeling and mimicking somebody else’s business gets you caught up in tasks that don’t move your business forward. (Hint: You need to know your critical, income-generating tasks.) • One thing we see people struggling with is nailing down their ideal client avatar. It isn’t enough to half-ass this and write down a few ideas of who you “think” your ideal client “might be.” You need to go deep -- and I mean REALLY deep -- into what they’re thinking, what they’re doing, and how they’re feeling. You need to get inside their heads and know what stories they’re telling themselves when they wake up in the morning till they put their head down on the pillow at night.

You should even be going back and reviewing your ideal client avatar not only on a monthly basis but especially before creating any new sales or marketing content.

In this week’s episode, you can eavesdrop on a semi-private Ideal Client Review session I did with two clients -- one who’s just starting her online business and the other who is using online marketing to help grow her brick and mortar business.

Why you need to nail down your ideal client avatar (ICA) to not only sell your signature program but to put all your marketing pieces together and grow your brand.
Why if you’re not clear on what your ideal client’s behaviours are, you’re going to have a hard time speaking to them -- and they won’t be able to relate to you.
How to take a deep dive into your ideal client’s physical and lifestyle factors.

Listen in as we brainstorm ways to really understand an ideal client’s pain points and behaviours -- and how to turn this into content that makes your potential clients say, “Wow, you GET me!” This way, they can get to know, like and trust you, and buy into your brand (and your signature program).

  • While I’ve talked about branding a few times on The Business of Becoming, today’s episode has a completely different spin: we’re talking specifically about branding when it comes to doing a personal brand photoshoot.

My guest today, Laura Benn, is the founder of Gooseberry Studios. Laura has been doing my photoshoots and events for years now, and she’s super passionate about helping companies stand out in the marketplace.

What We Talk About In This Episode:

How branding and photography have changed over the years from being stuffy “corporate” shots to shots that are more creative and “messy.”

The prep work you need to do before the photoshoot to make sure you’re sharing your vision with the photographer and maximizing your shoot time.

Some of the biggest mistakes health practitioners, coaches, and fitness pros make when it comes to doing brand photography.

The different types of shots you might want to take, whether they’re for specific campaigns, specific products or just photos you use on your website -- and how they still all have to follow your brand.

What presets are and how to use them to keep your photo branding consistent. (Hint: they’re like having your own personalized photo filter you can use over and over again.)

How to be yourself when doing the photoshoot so you can build a connection with your audience.

  • If you think email marketing is dead and yet you’re not making the kind of sales you’d like to make in your business, then this episode is for you.

When you do email marketing right, you can make tens of thousands of dollars off of a small email list. And my guest, Misty Mozejko, is living proof of that.

Misty ran a 6-figure brick and mortar fitness business using only email marketing. She’s been studying (and coaching) email marketing and deliverability for over 8 years, not to mention working globally with many A-list copywriters and email marketing specialists.

And yes, she really did make $80,000 off a 200-person email list.

Misty is also our very own “Keeper of the Words”, creating most of the forward-facing copywriting and email marketing strategies for Lori Kennedy Inc. If you’re on my list, chances are you’ve read something she wrote.

In this episode, Misty takes us not only through the five things to do -- and NOT to do -- when it comes to email marketing, but how to do it so you don’t feel pushy.

We’ll take a deep dive into how often you should be emailing your list -- and how to make sure every email tells a story and has a specific purpose to get people to do something (whether it’s buy something, go to your Facebook page or a blog post).

You’ll even get a behind-the-scenes peek into how we do our email marketing campaigns, starting with our editorial calendar to what we do in between campaigns.

I like to joke that my house is the house that email marketing built. Yet even I started like everybody else: with a list of just zero people. More proof that email marketing isn’t dead. You just need to do it right.

    More About Misty Mozejko:

Misty Mozejko is an email marketing and email deliverability expert and the Director of Editorial for Lori Kennedy Inc.

She spends her days writing copy, sales emails and pulling apart the very murky depths of spam filters and their constantly changing rules so she can ensure the Lori Kennedy Inc marketing campaigns land at the top of everyone's inbox.

She ran her own brick and mortar fitness and nutrition business for 13 years and the bulk of her marketing was email only. She ran this 6 figure business while freelancing as an email copywriter and authoring many books and training on email marketing and deliverability.

She has a 13-year-old son and 3 bonus children who are 4/8/10.

Her sanity-saving past-time is loading up her travel-trailer with food and kids and exploring the scenic lakes and parks of Ontario, Canada.

What We Talk About In This Episode:

What is email marketing really is -- and why it’s better than passive marketing. The difference between email marketing and an email newsletter. Why email marketing is the best way to make connections with your clients. The two different ways you need to look at email marketing to grow your business. Why you need to take your audience by the hand and lead them where you want them to go with specific calls to action. How often you should be sending the right kind of emails at a bare minimum -- and why. What to do if you’re struggling to get clients, and how to make yourself the first person people think of when they need help. The difference between having a conversation about actually helping your clients versus just sending them a helpful piece of content. (Hint: They don’t need another helpful piece of content.) How to make email marketing part of a bigger campaign to bring in more clients at specific times of the year. Why you need to get a bit “pushy” for your business when it comes to sending out multiple emails. Why you don’t need to worry about unsubscribes and shouldn’t get hung up on the numbers like open rate and click-through rate.

  • I’m excited to be covering a topic we haven’t talked about on the podcast: how to use direct sales and products as part of your coaching practice to make more money.

Way too often, I see practitioners and coaches running two separate businesses — when, in reality, everything should be rolled into your one signature program.

I asked Maranda Carvell RHN to join us because she uses the same business model we teach in the WBA and 10K Success System, and has integrated products and direct sales into her thriving nutrition practice. She also teaches health practitioners how to do direct sales differently.

Whether you sell products like doTerra, essential oils, Isagenix, JuicePlus or USANA, this episode will show you how to integrate products into your practice, and turn your business into an ongoing income stream without feeling salesy or pushy.

    More About Maranda Carvell RHN

Maranda Carvell RHN is a Nutritionist and Essential Oils High-Level Leader who teaches health care professionals how to do direct sales differently.

After years of clinical practice, running hundreds of women through her online weight loss program, and serving thousands of essential oils customers, she’s taken all she’s learned and applied it to helping other Nutritionists build a successful and thriving essential oils business. Whether you are just starting out in your business, or are struggling to gain traction and make consistent income, Maranda can help you accomplish your goals.

What We Talk About In This Episode Why the old-school networking marketing way no longer works – and what you can do instead to not feel salesy or pushy. Maranda completely flips that old business model upside down. Why you need to be crystal clear on your ideal client and the outcome you want for them.
The three pillars Maranda uses to not only grow her business — and her downline — but actually give her clients what they need. The real big switch in your mindset that needs to happen so you can better serve your clients as a practitioner, and grow your business. Why emulating somebody else’s business isn’t a business. (Hint: Your methodology is what you build your business on.) How you have so much more knowledge to share with people than just what the products do. How to build the power of an ongoing income stream by taking care of your customers the right way. How to continue to educate your clients through automation, so clients stay with you — and buy from you — for years.
