KATHY: Learning golf as a middle-aged adult is totally different than learning when younger. It's like learning a foreign language as an adult versus as a child. It’s harder to just let things happen and play with abandon. It’s hard to not over think constantly. How can you help newer golfers with this?

  • In this episode, Dr. Cohn answers a question from a reader about How can I be better, if You Can’t Visualize Your Golf Shot

GRANT: I have a very hard time ‘visualizing’; it’s hard for me to see a mental picture or movie of the ball flight or the target like Jack Nicklaus talks about. How can I be better with this?

  • In this episode, Dr. Cohn answers a question from a reader about Do You Walk Off the Course in Disgust and Frustration?

JACKIE: I walked off the course today after 13 holes, not because I was injured or even playing that badly. I walked off in disgust and frustration… I’m frustrated that when I’m putting well, I’m driving the ball poorly. When I’m chipping well, my irons go limp. I can’t put together a solid round. What am I doing wrong? How do I put a good round together?

  • In this episode, Dr. Cohn answers a question from a reader about Golfers Who Play Down to the Level of Competitors.

SCOTT: I play better when I compete with better players, but I also play worse with higher handicapped golfers. I find myself losing focus and not using the same pre-shot routine. I’m disappointed when I don’t use a consistent pre-shot routine when playing with golfers below my ability. Thank you so much for your response and keep up the awesome work in the golf psychology podcast!

  • In this episode, Dr. Cohn answers a question from a reader about How to Manage the Driver Yips.

CHAD: I have driver yips and once it creeps in around mid-round… It messes with my confidence. Technically, I’ve always struggled with the upswing and I know my tendency is to hit down and lean too far towards the target causing high pop ups. But I can’t seem to pull out of it. Any ideas for me?

  • In this episode, Dr. Cohn answers a question from a reader about How would we cope with that and give the task a realistic difficulty rating of the shot...

RALPH: Hey Doc, great insights! I know my level of my abilities in Golf, but I overestimate the task at hand. And that makes me feel nervous and tentative. A routine shot becomes a difficult shot. How would I cope with that and give the task a realistic difficulty rating? Thanks for your videos!

  • In this episode, Dr. Cohn answers a question from a reader about why golfers get the putting yips when they think it's important to make putts. Here's the question of the week:

PAUL: I’m a 10-12 handicap, 54 years old, play about twice a week, and I have the putting yips but, I don’t think it is about fear of embarrassment. Instead, it is about being seen as good by winning the match. The longer I wait my turn to putt, the worse it gets. When I don’t care about the putt—I’m out of the hole, then I have no issues. Only when it matters does the yips kick in.
