Since the Womenâs Health Initiative study came out, there have been a lot of misconceptions about hormone replacement therapy among practitioners and us ladies. Hormone replacement therapy was widely embraced until the release of this study, which created fear about its safety. However, there is data on bioidentical hormones that show numerous benefits and reduced risks, yet we remain hesitant to use them.
This week, I want to clear up many misconceptions that we have as a society around hormone replacement therapy, particularly during the transition from perimenopause to menopause. I share distinctions between different types and categories of hormones, as well as information about the estrogen family.
