This was a great chat and I'm so excited for you all to hear it!

On today's episode of the Jack Hallows Podcast, I'm enjoyed by one of my former co-workers from Team ATLAS Performance Health, Coach Kimmy Duong!
I wanted to get Kimmy on the podcast for a while because I think she has an awesome story behind her journey into coaching and becoming a dedicated WBFF competitor.
Starting out in the finance world, Kimmy left all that behind 18 months ago to pursue a career in fitness, start life as an online coach and in doing so, defy the barriers set out for her in her childhood through cultural expectations.
This is a must listen for young coaches especially as we focus heavily on the idea that your life is yours and yours alone and chasing your dream is always possible.

In this episode I decided to give some advice on a few topics that I feel I have a few qualifications on being able to speak on.
Imposter syndrome is something I've dealt with consistently in this industry, and after attending a Gary Vee speaking event the week before recording this, I've decided to start taking steps to countering this - with this being one of them.
I give three pieces of advice to anyone who's wanting to become a Personal Trainer, three pieces of advice to anyone who's wanting to start creating content for social media, three pieces of advice for anyone looking to lose body fat and three pieces of advice for anyone looking to build muscle.
I hope you enjoy! Please consider leaving a favourable review and following the show if you do!

Today I decided to record something a little bit different in order to show to you, the listener, that in over half a decade so far of doing this, I've made my fair share of mistakes.
My reasoning behind this is I know that I'm not the only one who has ever fallen for these things or believed really strongly in one methodology or thought process that maybe, just maybe, isn't all I once thought it was cracked up to be.
And I know that listening to this podcast, someone out there is going to identify with each and every one of the points I highlighted in the podcast be it being terrified that carbs after 6pm make you fat, or buying into the more recent social media crusade against the barbell for 'optimal training.'So let's share a laugh at my expense at how I used to believe BCAAs were nectar of the gods for fat loss, or perhaps learn something interesting as we dive into why I no longer worry so much about training frequency for hypertrophy.

It finally happened! We have an answer to the age old question.
Hip Thrusts OR Squats for glute hypertrophy. Is the thrust a must? Is the squat the GOAT?
Have a listen to see what a new research paper comparing the two found and my initial first opinion on the findings.

We chatted all things coaching credibility, social media and the issue with everyone's obsession with optimising every facet of their entire lives. This was all alongside a deep dive into the Art of Coaching and how actually getting results looks for an individual.

I love doing Q & A boxes on Instagram but I'm finding that it's hard to answer questions with enough detail on a singular story slide, so I figured why not try do a podcast instead where I can go into more detail!
Let me know if this is something you enjoy and shoot me a DM on Instagram @jackhallowsfitness if you'd like me to do more (I'm thinking one every 2 - 3 months).
Topics Discussed

Do I have an awesome episode for you today or what?
I am lucky enough to be joined by Sheridan Skye today for a conversation about the key considerations for training women, *that* recently published meta analysis on the menstrual cycle and how to best manage your fitness goals as a woman while looking to have a baby.
Sheridan is an incredible wealth of knowledge and not only is she the newest member of Team BioLayne, she's also a registered nurse, pre-post natal specialist coach and perhaps her favourite achievement of them all - a very happy mum of two.
This is one of my favourite conversations so far in this podcasts current short lifespan and I guarantee you that you'll come away from this episode having learned something that you likely never even thought of prior to listening. I know I did.
Let me know your thoughts on the episode by sending me a DM on Instagram and please consider leaving a 5 * review if you enjoy!

When entering the Fitness Industry, it's clear that coaches are not taught how to run an efficient and effective business.
In fact, when I first started my coaching certifications my business education was a 3 step process of look them in the eye, shake their hand and be mindful of your body language.
Great for selling your first Personal Training session... Not so much for scaling a 6 figure coaching business.
THAT is where Jenna Davies is leading the charge.
Having worked with some of the biggest name's in the Australian fitness industry such as Coach Mark Carroll, Sean McInroy and Jake Campus, Jenna is paving the way for Personal Trainers and Coaches worldwide to transform and grow their businesses beyond what they may have ever thought possible.
Alongside being the co-founder of multiple companies such as Big Uppetite and Butter Up, Jenna also runs her Fitness Business Strategy program through Carroll Performance, with 10 in depth modules designed to have coaches turning their dreams into clear, goal-driven actions.
This was an awesome chat and I'm so excited to have you hear all of Jenna's best tips to help YOU scale and grow YOUR business. Make sure to stick around 'til the end to hear the 3 golden skills every coach needs to learn in business.

Today I had the pleasure of welcoming Lindsay Parker or as some of you may know her from Instagram 'LiftingLindsay' onto the podcast and wow, what a conversation!
We chatted all thing trainings optimisation covering exercise selection, the role genetics play, our attitudes towards new longer muscle lengths for hypertrophy research and of course, how we define the word optimal itself.
On top of that, Lindsay posts some phenomenal content around mindset on her page so we dove head first into values, happiness as it relates to fitness and the hedonic treadmill that so many who pursue fitness goals get stuck on.
This was a phenomenal chat and I can't wait for you all to hear it! If you don't know Lindsay or haven't followed her prior, check out her links below and go and follow her! Her content is phenomenal!

Today Jack welcomes Jeremiah Bair onto the podcast for a bumper 1 hour deep dive into fat loss and the importance of setting yourself up for success by potentially stepping AWAY from a calorie deficit for a period of time.
Jeremiah is a brilliant coach who lives over in the States and is someone who I personally feel I resonate with well in regards to his coaching style, content and overall message around body transformations. Him and his team achieve incredible results physically but also look after their client's mental wellbeing and prefer to take a long term approach to body composition improvements over the short term, crash dieting led approach that has taken over the fitness industry the last decade or so.
This was an awesome conversation packed with a tonne of value as we dissect how best to set yourself up for success when trying to lose fat in the long term, while also exploring programming considerations in fat loss phases and of course, how to best make use of your time spent OUT of a deficit.
You're not going to want to miss this one!

Before I became a Personal Trainer, I fell for every trick in the book.
Every diet, every training scam, every charlatan selling a quick fix to a six pack... You name it. I probably bought into it. It left me confused, lost and honestly nearly completely ruined my life due to the skewed perspectives and perceptions I picked up along the way of what fitness actually is and what it meant to me at the time.
Now, I've made it my mission to be the person that I needed back then. It's why I do what I do.
And so I though it was time to open up a little more on my story and how I got here.
I hope this episode provides you with some value.

The internet has yet again decided that calorie counting for weight loss is redundant!!
A short episode in which I sit down and give my thoughts as to why this is an outlandish statement and how marketing tactics like this help people to miss the bigger picture so that more books, programs and app subscriptions can be sold.
I also give my thoughts on why claiming exercise and weight loss aren't a good combination is an equally silly statement to make.

Today I bring in the New Year by discussing the results of my mini cut that I closed out 2022 with.
In this episode I discuss
How I lost 7kg in 7 weeks Why I chose to run 'just' a mini cut instead of a longer fat loss phase Why I don't recommend mini cuts for the majority of the population And why focussing solely on outcomes is going to leave your New Years resolution goals flounderingI hope you all had a great New Years and enjoy the new episode!
