His palmares is amongst the most unique in cycling's history. A Paris Roubaix winner, a champion at Paris-Nice, three Tour de Romandie titles and of course - in 1987, the Triple Crown which saw him join Eddy Merckx as the only men in the history of the sport to take home the Giro, Tour and World Championships in the same season. As we discovered, he's a capable raconteur off the bike too with more than a few enchanting stories of his time on the bike.
In this conversation we learned how the extraordinary 1987 season came to be, and how when it appeared his opponents held the upper hand, Stephen found a way to power back.

Superteams are a mainstay in the World Tour peloton from UAE and Jumbo in the men's pack, to the inexorable rise of Canyon-SRAM in the women's. One team is aiming to join their number with a radical philosophy - "don't be a prick" and back the homegrown talent from your nation. Uno X earned their first Tour de France wildcard spot in 2023, entering the race with a roster built entirely from Danish and Norwegian riders - they have a women's team and a development team and continue to add bigger names to their roster every season - with Andreas Leknessund and Magnus Cort joining their men's team roster. Their women's team though less rigidly tied to the Dano-Norwegian rider selection with Brits, Swedes, and Italians amongst their roster - but their ambition is no smaller. Both teams aim for the World Tour and in this conversation Jens Haugland reveals his action plan to get there.

Megan Fisher had ambitions to be a professional tennis player before a catastrophic accident changed her sporting trajectory. Mattias Skjelmose has taken big strides forward every year as a professional. His first season at Trek saw him snatching the young rider's jersey at the Tour of Norway, in 2022 he won GC at the Tour of Luxembourg. In 2023, he won the Tour de Suisse, the Danish national road race title and the Maryland Cycling Classic. At 23 years old, he sits in the top 15 in the UCI's World Rankings with his future very much in his own destiny. As a world tour mechanic Filip Tišma has worked alongside some of the biggest names in the cycling. He's the man who gave his countryman Matej Mohorič the idea to use the dropper post in Milan-San Remo and has helped the likes of Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome and Geraint Thomas to grand tour glory. Bobby and Jens find out exactly what a top level mechanic gets up to on a daily basis and discovers just how many bikes they have to build in a year (spoiler: it's a lot!), how their leader's bikes differ from the rest of the bunch and the incredible process that goes into building a one off bike when a rider wins a classification at a grand tour.
