He has spoken in 40 states across the United States and in Russia, South Africa, India, Rwanda, Taiwan, Canada, South Korea, and China. He has lectured on the brain at medical conferences and medical schools since 2000.

For 22 years, he appeared every third week on the ABC television affiliate in Dallas. He was also interviewed on the PBS affiliate in Dallas, discussing the tensions between Christians, Muslims and Jews in the Middle East where his main theme was finding common ground.

The author of eight non-fiction books (two translated into Korean) and 75 articles and reviews for religious publications, his screenplay, Maggie’s Perfect Match, was the winner of the Telluride Indiefest Screenwriting Contest.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tulsa, where in 1970 was named “Man of the Year”. A little bit about Assassin’s Manuscript:

When former CIA assassin Adam Hunter’s last hit goes awry, he attempts to leave behind his world of espionage and murder by embarking on a career in ministry. But soon, he is pulled back in to crack a code hidden in an ancient manuscript in order to foil a terrorist plot. In the meantime, Renie Ellis, a lawyer in the small town he’s moved to gets caught up in his dilemma and falls in love with him, not realizing he killed her fiancé by accident. What will she do when she finds out who Adam really is? The heist of a famous Codex from the British Museum, Papal intrigue in the Vatican, both Sicilian and Russian Mafia, and a US President who knows more than she admits all play key roles in a story that keeps the reader guessing until the end, a conclusion that no one sees coming. From Rome to Jerusalem, from Egypt’s Mt. Sinai to Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains, the characters scramble for their lives, racing the clock to prevent an international disaster.

    Our focus today is William’s Novel - Assassin’s Manuscript….

  • Dr. Stephen A. Furlich - Nonverbal Epiphany: Steps to Improve Your Nonverbal Communication. This is episode 659 of Teaching Learning Leading K12, an audio podcast.

Dr. Stephen Furlich is the author of Nonverbal epiphany: Steps to Improve Your nonverbal Communication. He is also the best-selling author of a breakthrough book, Sex Talk: How Biological Sex Influences Gender Communication Differences Throughout Life’s Stages. He has taught and researched communication at the university level for over 20 years. He has taught a variety of communication courses with the main focus of better understanding oneself and others. Often, his research projects and the courses that he taught, complemented each other and led into innovative directions. Dr. Furlich has been an associate professor at Texas A & M University since 2018 and served as an assistant professor there for five years prior to that. He has presented at many conferences, including: DFW Metroplex Linguistics Conference, Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education Conference, E-Learning Conference, National Communication Association Conference, Southern States Communication Association Conference, International Academy of Business and Public Administration Disciplines, and International Conference of the American Pragmatics Association.

Dr. Furlich, who was recently interviewed by One America News Network, has been published in numerous journals, including: Texas Speech Communication Journal, Kentucky Journal of Communication, The Florida Communication Journal, Journal of Applied communication Research, Academic Exchange Quarterly, Journal of Integrated Social Sciences, and Journal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.

His communication paradigm is from a receiver’s perspective. This places the emphasis on the listener to better understand from the speaker’s perspectives and as a speaker emphasizing understanding from the listener’s perspectives. Both of these become more challenging as differences increase between the speaker and listener.

Dr. Furlich has become fascinated with technological advancements in science that have enabled a better understanding of communication. Without these scientific advances, understanding communication is quite limited. This line of research has inspired him to write this book to bring together many different scientific studies to better understand the role of biology with nonverbal communication cues.

He earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education, a Master of Arts in Communication Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas Tech University. He resides in McKinney, Texas.

Our focus today is his book - Nonverbal Epiphany: Steps to Improve Your Nonverbal Communication.

  • Coach Carlos Johnson - Power Engage: Seven Power Moves for Building Strong Relationships to Increase Engagement with Students and Parents. This is episode 654 of Teaching Learning Leading K12, an audio podcast.

As a professional speaker, trainer, and author, Carlos Johnson, aka “Coach Carlos,” is locally bred, but his work and research on culture and engagement have taken him across the nation and globe.

Coach Carlos and his team of consultants have utilized his experience and research to successfully turn around three failing public schools and one private Christian academy. In addition, his training and strategies have helped to change school culture and increase parental engagement, student enrollment, and staff and student retention.

His driving belief can be best summarized by the following quote: “After 20 years of research, all evidence confirms that a highly engaged school culture is the mother of high performance!” The research and results from this philosophy led Coach Carlos to create his systematic approach to revolutionizing school culture by teaching districts how to build healthy performance-based relationships and institutionalize stakeholder engagement. In 2015, Coach Carlos stepped into principalship, and during his three-year tenure, he doubled school enrollment, increased staff pay, transformed school culture, and increased student performance schoolwide.

In response to the national school-to-prison pipeline crisis for young men, Coach Carlos created an online Tier-2 PBIS behavior and leadership course for boys called Future Man Success Prep. In addition, his PowerEngage system is an online/on-site system that trains thousands of parents, students, and instructional teams each year on the psychology and practice of engagement.

Coach Carlos is committed to transforming institutions and individuals through leadership and learning.

Our focus today is his book - Power Engage: Seven Power Moves for Building Strong Relationships to Increase Engagement with Students and Parents.

Coach Carlos has an awesome focus!
