  • Ever wondered whether you can run a business without Instagram?!

I’m joined by a returning guest for this week’s podcast episode, the wonderful Caroline Inspired! A yoga teacher based here in Nottingham.

Last time Caroline was on the podcast at the beginning of this year we chatted all about creating healthy habits with social media through establishing boundaries, being more intentional with the time you spend online and taking regular digital detoxes 📱

But back in May, Caroline announced to her community that she would be leaving Instagram…

The reaction she received was overwhelmingly supportive with so many fellow business owners sharing that they wished they could do the same but felt like they had no choice but to keep showing up and creating content for the platform.

I was SO keen to catch up with Caroline again to hear about what her life and business looks like post Instagram, in this episode we chat all about….

✨ The reasons that ultimately led her to making the decision to leave Instagram

✨ Whether leaving Instagram has had any tangible impact on her business and sales

✨ Why creating content for YouTube feels like a better fit and how she is building a community on the platform

✨ As well as the BIG question on everyone’s lips, will she ever return to Instagram again in the future…

This was SUCH an interesting conversation that I really hope you'll take a lot from, enjoy!

  • Ever thought about launching a membership?

In this week's episode I'm chatting to founder of The Manifestation Collective, Victoria Jackson! If you don't know her already, Victoria is a Certified Mindset Coach, EFT Practitioner and manifestation guide. She helps women who feel unfulfilled and out of alignment to transform into a new season of life through subconscious reprogramming, mindset coaching and guiding them through her signature manifestation teachings.

The Manifestation Collective is made up of 1-1 coaching, group programmes, a podcast and she's even written a book but in today's episode we're going to be honing in and focusing on just one area of her business and the realities of building and running a membership!

In the episode I chat to Victoria all about:

✨ How she organically grew a Facebook group to thousands of members and what led to her deciding to switch to a membership model instead

✨ How she found stepping into the role as a community manager

✨ How she overcame limiting beliefs and fears during the launch of The Collective Membership

✨ How she learnt not to let members cancelling affect her self worth

  • Are you finding running a business tough at the moment?

If so then today's podcast episode is for you!

My guest needs no introduction as I’m sure you all know who she is, but today I’m going to be chatting with teacher turned content creator turned Educator, Vix Meldrew!

It’s safe to say that there have been a fair few changes in the online world during 2022, from Instagram algorithm updates to the changes in the way people are spending time online to the shift in people’s spending habits

And all of this can combined can create a lot of worry for business owners, especially those who have built their communities online.

So I wanted to get Vix on the podcast today to provide some much needed reassurance to any listeners who are currently feeling disheartened or exhausted by running a business right now.

In the episode I chat to Vix all about:

✨ The shifts that she’s seen happening in the online business space over the past twelve months and what she thinks has caused such huge changes in people’s behaviour

✨ What we as business owners can focus on when it comes to creating content and reaching our audiences

✨ How to build a business based on ease and why that isn't a bad thing

✨ As well as how she is approaching content creation right now and her top tips to help you enjoy the process of showing up on social media again

As both Vix and I mention throughout the episode, we don’t have all of the answers but I really hope that our conversation helps to show you that you’re not alone in this - we are all navigating the same struggles and challenges as business owners right now, but we WILL get through them if we pull together!

I hope you enjoy the episode!

  • Yes you read that right, I'm officially opening Nottingham's FIRST female-only co-working space!!

If you know the story of how The Co-Working Club was originally created then you'll know that it was born out of my own struggles navigating self-employment for the first time and the thing that really changed the game for me was connecting with fellow business owners and building a community around me 👭

With more of us than ever before setting up businesses and working from home, having a space that allows likeminded women to connect and collaborate with one another is absolutely invaluable and I'm beyond excited to be able to bring this opportunity to the Nottingham business scene ✨

The support I've received so far has been absolutely incredible and I feel ridiculously grateful to have the most amazing community of women cheering me on as I undertake this exciting (and let's be honest slightly scary) project 🥰

So now the word is out there, I guess the real hard work starts here...

    Wish me luck!!

Anna is a member of The Online Club and a Conscious Brand Mentor who helps soul-led entrepreneurs to gain clarity and show up as their most authentic selves so that they can build truly aligned brands and attract their soul clients.

  • Have you ever experienced a disappointing launch in your business?

You know the ones, where you feel like you're shouting from the rooftops about your new product or service but the sign-ups just aren't coming...

I'm pretty confident that it's a much more common than you think but it's just that business owners choose not to talk openly about these experiences and as a result we only seem to see the six figure launches and sell out group programmes which isn't particularly helpful.

To open up the conversation around this topic, I'm welcoming founder of Word By Word Storytelling, Michelle Gately back to the podcast!

You might remember that our first interview was back in 2019 after Michelle first moved to the UK but a LOT has happened since then including building her content mentoring business, navigating a pandemic and most recently returning to Australia.

In a recent Instagram Live, Michelle opened up about how a launch she did earlier this year didn't go as well as she had hoped and how it had a huge impact on her self confidence so I wanted to get her on the podcast to chat more about her experience.

In the episode I chat to Michelle all about:

✨ How to pick yourself back up after experiencing a disappointing launch and what steps to take next in your business

✨ Why not everything comes back to mindset when evaluating an unsuccessful launch

✨ As well as why it's so important for business owners to open up around this topic to create more realistic expectations when it comes to launching

I so appreciated Michelle's vulnerability in this episode and hope this transparent look at the realities of launching is helpful for any business owners who have been through or are currently going through similar experiences themselves!

  • Ever had one of those days in business where you've felt like giving up and throwing in the towel?

I'm sure 99.9% of you listening are nodding your head and raising your hands right now as building a business can be extremely testing and it can get tiring to keep picking ourselves up time after time.

But as my guest on today's podcast episode, Imogen Pickering shares, the only difference between success and failure in business is perseverance and Imogen has certainly persevered over the four years that she's been building her businesses!

If you don't know her already, Imogen is the founder of two businesses, the first being a fashion brand called Imogen Apparel which she launched back in 2015 and the most recent being Sister brand, a multi-dimensional branding agency with education at its core.

Imogen is known for sharing an extremely honest and transparent approach to running a business on her social channels and back in July 2021 she created an Instagram Reel which documented a very vulnerable look at some of the tougher moments within her business.

It's safe to say that the Reel completely blew up and has since amassed 10.5 million views which was totally unexpected. Imogen went from 4,000 followers to just under 40K followers in a very short space of time and subsequently attracted some negative attention from online trolls.

This is only one of the occasions in her journey so far where Imogen has had to pick herself up, learn from the experience and keep pushing on so I wanted to get her on the podcast to chat all about building resilience as a business owner.

In the episode I chat to Imogen all about:

✨ Why she is so passionate about opening up and showcasing a more authentic and transparent approach to running a business

✨ Why she believes failure is such an important part of running a business and how she has learnt to come to terms with setbacks over time

✨ As well as how the law of attraction allowed her to remain positive even throughout the most testing of times in her business

I absolutely LOVED getting the opportunity to chat to Imogen, it was such an inspiring conversation that will hopefully help anyone listening who is currently going through a tough time find the motivation to pick themselves up and keep going, you got this!

  • Have you ever scrolled through the pages and pages of job ads on Indeed wondering what it would be like to go from entrepreneur to employee again?

Heading back into employment as a business owner is a topic which I don't see spoken about very often but I know it's something I've considered once or twice since taking the leap into running my business full-time four years ago and I'm sure I'm not the only one!

Whether you've lost the love for running your business and are looking for a new challenge, you're keen to have a stable income again that you can rely on month after month or maybe you just don't think the life of a business owner suits you, there are so many reasons why you might make the decision to head back into employment, all of which are totally valid!

With a lot of stigma surrounding the topic due to how it can often be linked to the idea of success and failure it's something I've wanted to chat about on the podcast for a long time so I'm beyond happy to be welcoming the amazing Rebecca Tembo back to the podcast to share her experience.

If you don't know her already, Rebecca is a fashion designer and founder of The Entry Platform, an educational community which aims to help aspiring designers to create and launch their very own clothing lines.

I first spoke to Rebecca on the podcast back in March when she was working on building her two businesses full-time but since then she has made the decision to accept a full-time job in marketing so I thought we'd catch up for a little update.

In the episode I chat to Rebecca all about:

✨ What lead to her making the decision to go back into employment and how she has dealt with the transition from entrepreneur to employee so far

✨ How she has shifted the focus in her businesses to allow them to function alongside her full-time job

✨ As well as what she'd say to anyone who views going back into employment after running their own business as a failure

I really appreciate how honest Rebecca was in this episode and it was a great opportunity to open up the discussion around this topic which I'd love to hear spoken about more.
