In this episode of #TheHabitCoach, Ashdin is joined by Swami Purnachaitanya, Bestselling Author, Speaker, and Spiritual Guide, also known as #TheDutchMonk. In the last part of the series, they discuss about the concept of focus and the concept of feeling calm.

Swami ji shares that our mind is most effectively managed through effortlessness and not effort. He shares that in today's day and age, people are so used to multi-tasking, it's hard to consciously put efforts into doing any activity exclusively. The reality is that if we want to do anything efficiently and effectively, and enjoy it - we need to have focus. Swami ji talks more about this and further emphasizes on mindfulness.

  • Episode #726

In this episode of #TheHabitCoach, Pratul asks Ashdin that 'When pursuing your task/goal, how to tackle with the FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) on other fun/social activities?'

Ashdin responds by saying that first it's necessary to realize that when this FOMO is related to what we see on social media, more often than not it's fake and made-up. When it come's to getting FOMO from missing out on hanging out sessions with your friends because you have to do something productive instead, you need to remind yourself of the 'why' behind it. You need to remind yourself that you're doing it to feel good about yourself and be clear about your priorities.

In the episode of #TheHabitCoach, Ashdin Doctor is joined by Swami Purnachaitanya, Bestselling Author, Speaker, and Spiritual Guide, also known as #TheDutchMonk. In the first part of the series, Swami ji tells us about his roots and about his story of getting into meditation among other things.

He explains that real meditation is a state where you go behind the mind, where you're no longer consciously doing something or thinking about something. Further, Swami ji also shares an exercise for everyone to try - he says when we try to meditate the next time, for a moment or so, we should imagine and feel as if we're dead, as if everything is finished. This exercise will help you forget about any responsibilities you have and keep your mind calm.

  • Episode #723

Funfact : Did you know that the words 'Shall' and 'Will' technically mean very different things, but are now used interchangeably?

Ashdin shares why it's important to use these words in the right manner. When we say "I want to lose weight", it just remains as a wish - as opposed to "I shall lose weight" - sounds like you're more committed to it. For making this into an even more powerful as a habit, Ashdin suggests we should start saying "I'm going to..". instead of 'Will' or 'Shall'. "Going to" is an ever more stronger commitment!

Fun fact : The first borewells were made in China, back in 200 B.C.

Ashdin shares a story from his college days when he went on an Anthropological expedition and had a chance to pump some water up a water pump. He and his friends started taking turns one after the other but still couldn't be successful even after multiple tries, until a local child came and explained to them the right technique. They were supposed to keeping on pumping until the water came up, and not stop anywhere in between or change turns.

Ashdin compare this with habits. Once we start with our habits, we don't instantly see results and leave the habit mid-way. When trying to make habits, we have to keep on going without losing any momentum until we see results.
