I apologise in advance for some reason my connection is a little bit dodge during our call it may have to do with the distance we are calling from, you will notice that a few of the audio parts from me may sound a little different as I jumped on later and recorded the parts that were really bad.

  • In this episode I will be speaking with Bec Bignell the Founder & Editor of Rural Room and co-founder of Cockatoo Colab.
I mention at the beginning of the episode that it is a little out of sorts interview a woman from the city. However as you listen to the episode you will understand why. Bec is a huge advocate for Rural creatives to the point where she has created an entire business and network around helping them to be seen and hired.
In this episode we chat about both her businesses and those opportunities she is opening up for rural creatives. We also delve into where this inspiration to help has come from and though she is a country chick now living in the city we won’t hold that against her because she is doing such incredible work.
It is funny when you speak with a fellow person in your field, in this case the creative field, with us both being so passionate about our projects we got totally caught up in the chat and I am excited for you to listen in.

  • I was so looking forward to this interview and had already booked her in before her win at the NSW & ACT Rural women of the year awards on the 19th June. Now I know I always threaten that the episode are hard to keep in time but this episode is twice the length of my usual episode. And it is a complete sorry not sorry moment. I had all of my conversation topics ready but because she won the award I also had to pick her brain about this and so many more questions developed as we spoke.
So listen in to hear this passionate woman tell us about her business, her biggest struggle which so many small businesses can relate to, just a hint its about money and so so much more.
By the way I just have to say that I had already booked in time to chat with Jo before Carlie Oates episode shout out last week. It was an awesome coincidence and Segway into this episode, but if you know of or are a women in rural and remote Australian working hard in your field send me an email I would love to hear from you. And If you haven’t had a chance to listen to Carlies interview go back into your feed and click on Episode 10. Carlie Oates- Curators Collective.

  • Today’s guest is Carmel Meurant she is the founder and organiser of the Country music festival Music in the Mulga which is held on her and her husband David’s working cattle and sheep property. I won’t give her to much of an intro as we chat in great detail about this year’s festival which is coming on the 16th – 19th of May. We also chat about her other business she has and her tips on how she uses social media. You will notice some fairly candid conversation as well as me talking a little more than usual as I do know a lot about the event and the behind the goings on behind the scenes due to being her daughter in-law.
