We talk about what we feel as individuals can help to improve representation on science, reflecting on our own experiences moving through education and being exposed to science and university, and the different access schemes/outreach/societies/individuals(!) we were really grateful for. -
Even once integrated into science, it’s not a level playing field. What impact does not being taught by ANY academics of the same ethnicity have on students, and how does this relate to the results of studies showing that those from underrepresented groups receive less reward for their research? What are the undergraduate statistics for science subjects by ethnicity?
We get personal with our experience as science undergrads at University so tune in and join us!

We’ll discuss the intrinsic link between several fields of science and the slave trade, and how science and its museums can have accountability for the devastating impacts that research had on groups of people without completely disregarding the often crucial discoveries of the time. We also question whether we see reflections of this – does science still, intentionally or unintentionally, exploit people today?
