Imagine being a dancer for stars like Beyonce and Lady Gaga and walking away from it all for a complete career pivot? Well, that’s exactly what Deja Riley did! Today Deja shares with us why she did it, how she’s championing change in the wellness industry and how she’s keeping up with her love for dancing still today. The absolutely delightful @JVN is backkkk to share all about @JVNHair and how and why this brand came to be. From breaking molds in hair care with intentionality, making it for hair concern not for hair type (gender, texture etc.) it brings into conversation some much bigger topics at play in the world, way beyond hair. We talk about the “come as you are” slogan, why @JVN isn’t obsessed with patience and an honest chat fame and reality and the need for self care.

The average teen spends 7 hours a day online. That’s ⅓ of their life. #HalfTheStory began when founder, Larissa May (@livinlikelarz), was juggling two lives as a student at Vanderbilt University and a fashion blogger/entrepreneur, covering NYFW for highly respected media outlets. Behind the perfectly curated instagram feed was 17 hour workdays, debilitating anxiety, and sleep deprivation. Through industry conversations and discussions with peers she quickly realized that she was living in a world where everyone was craving a platform to share, which led to the beginning of @halfthestory. It started as a desire to highlight our most human attributes on social media to reignite human connection in the digital space. So what began as a $800 grant for a senior art project has since become a globally recognized platform connecting people of all walks of life through sharing experiences, struggles, entrepreneurial journeys, and aspirations.

What was a mutual decision, combined with a celebratory get well cake and sharing on social media about Shane getting a vasectomy turned into a wild ride of misconceptions, accusations and a news story we did NOT expect to be a part of. Facing backlash over a vasectomy was shocking, but not as shocking as some of the widely spread fears around a vasectomy. So we sat down, with covid, and shared the experience, taking on listener questions as well!

As a longtime user of Arrae I was so excited to bring on my friend Siff Haider to talk about how she launched a brand targeting something so many of us deal with - bloat. Siff’s approach to the brand and her intentionality around creating safety for ALL bodies, including those who have struggled with eating disorders - is one of the reasons I fell in love. We get into ALL of that. We also discuss how creatorship/influencing isn’t often trusted or taken seriously and why she and her co-founder (& husband) Nish decided to invest back into influencer marketing with trust. This conversation is so great for anyone who’s dealt with digestive embarrassments, curious about creatorship, or investing in social media while growing a brand!

We recently welcomed home organization team Go Simplified into our home to de-clutter, get organized and learn new skills. This process for me began with a lot of shame and fear, and landed me in a place of peace and awareness and compassion. So today as we took a break from the home organizing, I sat down with Megan Golightly, founder of GoSimplified to talk about how to start, some tips on a process, and ultimately - reasons we hold onto things. I hope this episode helps us unclutter our lives and minds and help us build new skills and release the shame! Clutter happens!
