  • In this episode for Canadians, I talk about the different types of investment accounts, and how to use a Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA) to start investing.

These accounts are highly beneficial for tax purposes and provide lots of opportunities to investors of all ages, as they don't incur a tax liability when you withdraw your funds.

There are many considerations to using these accounts, so this technical episode talks about all of the things you need to consider before starting to invest in a TFSA, how to get started, what your limits are and what to do with the money once you've made the contributions.

It also covers TFSA transferability from one financial institution to another, and how you can nominate a beneficiary.

For more information on contribution limits and government regulations about TFSAs, please visit:

    https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/individuals/topics/tax-free-savings-account/contributions.html

*Disclaimer* As with any of my episodes, you should always do your own research before making any financial, legal, tax or investment decisions to see if they are right for you and your personal circumstances. This episode is for general information and education purposes only, and government regulations are subject to change at any point without notice. You should not take this episode as advice or recommendations.

  • Whether it's starting something new, or doing more of something you know you should be doing, perfectionism can greatly affect the lives of many people (especially entrepreneurs) and hinder your progress by getting obsessed with the fine details.

This is something I'm personally all-too-familiar with, and especially in a highly regulated industry like Finance, I can really get obsessed with the details and facts of the content that I want to share both online and with clients. The problem is, that I want to be perfect and show up flawlessly, but in reality, that's just now efficient.

    Can you relate?

In this episode, I talk about why we function as perfectionists, and how to break the debilitating cycle of self-doubt, fear and obsessive thoughts about what we want to do, but don't actually do.

So if you want to get out of your head and into your life, then this is the episode you've been waiting for! Enjoy!

  • More than ever, I'm hearing people complain that no matter what they do, they just can't seem to get ahead financially. Then I ask them what they're doing, and I hear crickets.

The reality is that YES the cost of living is increasing, and wages haven't kept up with inflation, but that's not the only reason why so many people are broke.

In this episode, I'll touch on the Top 10 Reasons People are Broke and also what to do about it!

Check it out and let me know if you have any to add!

By the way, if you listen all the way through, I am hosting a 50% Black Friday Sale on all my Virtual Courses and Starter programs from now until Nov. 30th so use code "BLACKFRIDAY50" at checkout for huge savings on courses and bundles.

Start 2024 on the right foot this time. Let's go make some MONEY!

  • In this episode, I talk about how high interest rates are having not only a negative impact on property owners, but in many cases on renters as well.

When Landlords cannot afford their mortgage payments, they are forced to make risky decisions, such as rent-eviction or selling their property at below market value. Which do they choose? What are the risks and potential downside of rent-eviction?

There is a huge ripple effect of the high interest rates. It's forcing the hourly wage workers out of their homes, into rural areas where they can afford cheaper rent, moving in with their parents or going back to school. This clearly affects retail businesses ability to hire staff and employee retention, as well as corporate employers being required to have flexible work arrangements to accommodate out-of-city employees.

So how do we fix this? What can people do to protect themselves and be proactive in the meantime, so they don't bankrupt themselves while they wait for the decline in interest rates?

Listen to this episode to find out exactly what strategies I'm advising my clients on, and how you can get on the front foot in a challenging economy.

Thanks for listening and see you next time!

A lot of people fall off track during the summer months; physically, mentally & financially. This episode is the sign from the universe to kick start your action plan and focus in on the ONE pillar that you've been neglecting the most.

  • In this episode I give you real examples of two strategies that you can choose from to join finances as a couple.

Whether you're married, co-habitating , or planning on moving in together, these simple strategies can save you time, energy and ambiguity in the future when it comes to deciding how much you're each going to contribute to the household expenses.

Joining finances can be tricky, as everyone has a different Money Story, so be mindful that this should be an open conversation with your partner, where you both agree on what works best for you.

There's no right or wrong answer here, and you may find that neither of these strategies work for your household, so if that's the case, you can sit down and map out a plan of who pays for what, so you are both in agreement moving forward.

The most important part of joining your finances, is that you both come to a mutual agreement about what works for YOU, so you can both feel confident in managing your personal and couples finances moving forward.

Save this episode, listen with your partner, and try the calculations yourself!

  • My most vulnerable and honest episode yet. In the final months of 2022, I had one bad thing after another continue to happen, including a relationship break-down, struggling business, family drama and health issues.

This is a tell-all episode where I get real and raw of the hardships I experienced, my unhealthy coping mechanisms and what finally made the lightbulb switch on for me that enough is enough.

To celebrate my 75th episode, I recorded this yesterday on Valentine's Day 2023, single, currently in Melbourne, Australia where I had an epiphany about what's truly important in life, and how to pull ourselves out of a dark time.

Help me celebrate this large accomplishment by sharing my 75th episode, sending me a message or simply letting me know that you resonated with this.

  • Are you feeling overwhelmed and stressed out all the time? Are you having a hard time focusing on anything or feeling depressed? Are you feeling like you'll end up burning out if you don't take care of yourself?

"The body is always communicating with us, sending signals and signs, much like the car dashboard lights can communicate when things are awry or something's low and it alerts you."

April Likins is a board-certified health coach, trained at both Duke Integrative Medicine and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Driven by her own experience hitting burnout, which led to a health collapse, she's fiercely passionate about helping women thrive inside and out. April's specialty is helping professional women and female entrepreneurs reduce stress, find balance, and feel the joy and freedom to walk in their purpose, passions, and callings.

In 2013, April hit burnout after her dad passed away. She had been working excessively and not taking care of herself and it led to a complete health collapse. April was bedridden for about a year and a half and saw dozens of doctors and specialists to figure out what was wrong with her. She realized that she had been using work as a coping mechanism to avoid her feelings and that this had weakened her immune system and set her up for burnout. April now works with clients to help them prevent burnout by checking in with themselves regularly and listening to their bodies. She also advises them to set healthy boundaries around work and ensure they get enough sleep.

In this episode, you will learn the following:

    1. The importance of regular check-ins with oneself to identify needs for physical and emotional health

    2. The need to set healthy boundaries around work in order to prevent burnout
