In this episode, Elana and Adam discuss Liz Phair's debut album from 1993 and what she's been up to since then. Both of us went in Liz Phair newbies and came out big fans. We also talk a little bit about seeing Death Cab for Cutie and Jenny Lewis in concert, new album releases, and our future concert plans including Sleater-Kinney! Most of this episode was recorded all the way back in July so make sure to listen to the end for a little update and a preview of things to come.

Adam and Elana discuss Arcade Fire's Grammy-winning third album The Suburbs and the accompanying short film Scenes from the Suburbs directed by Spike Jonze. In the middle of the discussion they are interrupted by a large fly who landed on Elana's chessboard. The situation was handled in a humane and delicate fashion.
Other songs featured in the episode are "Why Do We Build the Wall" by Anaïs Mitchell, "Break Me" by Filthy Friends, "Sicilian Crest" by The Mountain Goats, "Harmony Hall" by Vampire Weekend, and "Head Alone" by Julia Jacklin.

In their third episode, Elana and Adam discuss April Ludgate's favorite band, Neutral Milk Hotel, their iconic album In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, and the enigma that is the band's leader Jeff Mangum.

In their long-awaited (by me at least) second episode, Elana and Adam discuss Rilo Kiley singer Jenny Lewis's first album as a solo artist, Rabbit Fur Coat, a collaboration with The Watson Twins originally released in 2006. Elana shares her adoration for Mitski and her 2014 album Bury Me at Makeout Creek.
The song that ends the episode is "For Pete's Sake" by The Monkees and this episode is dedicated to the memory of Peter Tork (1942-2019).

On their first episode, Elana introduces Adam to The Mountain Goats through their 2005 album The Sunset Tree and they discuss the story behind the deeply personal lyrics. Afterwards, they go through one of Adam's favorite albums, Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot from 2002 and talk about how the album was a major turning point in the band's career.
