  • WE ARE GETTING REAL. Today, I am joined by my friend and co-founder of The Sober Experiment to share drunken moments from our past from the sober perspective we have now. I am not gonna lie, part of me is TERRIFIED to share some of these things with y'all, but the thing is: I'm not in the business of hiding weakness to look "stronger," in fact, I think letting the guard down, getting vulnerable and sharing these moments in a REAL WAY is only indicative of growth and evolution. And of THAT, I am damn proud of.

So, maybe you relate to some of these stories...maybe you think they are CRAZY and totally unhinged...maybe you think, "that's it? my stories are so much worse..." but WHATEVER your reaction is in relationship to your own experiences, just know that if you CRAVE CHANGE, your "rock bottom" moment doesn't have to look any certain way; your rock bottom, "I'm going to change" moment can simply be the moment you put down the shovel, stop digging, and start climbing out.

Let us know what you think about today's episode! Send us a DM, share on social, and/or share with a friend who might need it.

    Thanks for listening!

  • Monday doesn't have to ALWAYS be Day 1. The first day of a new month doesn't have to mean "new goals." You don't have to be a "New You" on January 1... instead...you could just be the person who is consistent in how they show up for their goals, day in and day out.

Here are 7 tips that helped me make the switch this year. Let me know what you think.

  • Destiny Adams is one of my personal training, online programming, and macro nutrition planning clients. We have been working together consistently for just over a year and her progress has been undeniable. So, a lot of people ask, what's the difference between a client that sees changes like DESTINY (50+ lbs down, 27 overall inches lost, PRs in every lift, mental growth, increased self confidence, even career progression) in the time i work with them, and a client who quits and makes excuses?

Take a listen to find out. I love this episode because it gives a voice to someone who's actively DOING THE WORK and on the journey to her best self. Check it out and let us know what you think.

  • WE ARE BACK! And y'all I GLOWED UP these past 6 months, I swear. If you haven't been following along on IG, let me share what I mean in this episode. Get ready... Hopefully at least one of these changes I've implemented will inspire you to make some sort of change or improvement in YOUR life because I promise you...you control your destiny more than you know. 10 Changes I’ve made that’ve transformed my life in 6 months: 1. I quit alcohol- this one was the gateway to freeing up time &energy to make the other changes. For me, when alc was a part of my life, it stole SO MUCH of my ME-NESS that I didn’t have the capacity for the rest of these changes. I challenged myself to start w 6 mo, &now, I truly have found the sober side of me, which feels like THE most authentic & glowed-up version of me✨2. I went all in on a health/fitness goal- like ALL in. I started w deciding on WHAT goal (returning to bodybuilding), then set a time frame (6 mo), hired my coach, started my plan & took it one day at a time, showing up daily & trusting the process w/o the option to quit3. I spend time alone- & LEARNED TO LOVE IT. It gets easier the more you practice. Like building a muscle, it’s uncomfy when you’re working on it but the more you do it, the stronger you get. This has transformed the relationship I have w myself & eased so much anxiety in my life4. I’ve experimented w & adopted new hobbies- getting uncomfy baby! Spending my time in new ways has shown me what I’m capable of, opened my eyes to new ppl, new ways to have fun, new challenges & keeps me falling in love w new sides of myself5. 11 min of cold exposure per week- my 4am cold plunge is my fav change I’ve added to my routine. (I have a reel on why I do it if you’re curious about specifics)6. I’ve changed how I spend my money- this goes along w my sobriety. Since not spending money on alc, bars, & nights out, I have more to put toward things that mean more to me or are more positive for me7. I spend time in reflection- constant reevaluation of myself! Pinpointing where I’m winning & where I’m struggling8. I started a new business venture before I was “ready”- The Sober Experiment coaching program! “Ready” is a lie. Start the thing. LEAN IN9. I defined WHO I want to show up as & make decisions based on THAT version of me- this means sacrificing urges and rewriting toxic patterns/habits10. I tightened my social circle- not everyone is owed your energy. Remember that! Love from afar, prioritize who gets access to you & who you surround yourself with🫶🏼--- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/annie-graft/support

  • Hot Take: WHAT THE HELL, HOW IS IT ALREADY 2023?!? This year, my focus phrase is: "Show up for ME" so, here I am, showing up for this podcast, getting uncomfy and sharing some vulnerable stuuuuufff today.

I'm doing a live autopsy on my 2022 year, what does that mean? Well, we do autopsies on the deceased to figure out what caused death, but why don't we do it before we get to that stage? What I mean is self reflection... getting real with ourselves with what's going right, what's going wrong, what we want more of, what we want less of, etc. So that's what I've been focusing on this past week. I encourage y'all to dig deep within yourselves to figure it out for yourself too! Part of that autopsy is looking at lessons learned/takeaways from experiences you've had. So, here are some of mine from the past 365 days:

    1 -Evolving is HARD

2- Just because you didn’t achieve the goals you wrote down at the beginning of 2022

    doesn’t mean 2022 was a waste

    3- relationships take EFFORT

4- being home sick is a blessing

5- there are seasons to life, be okay with the transitions

6- life goes FAST, make the most of what you have in front of you

7- its easy to spend money, but be mindful that money can’t buy happiness

8- its important to have friends who call you out

9- finding yourself also means meeting the dark sides of yourself…

10- Don’t get complacent, its easy to get into bad habits and its hard to

correct them after too much time

  • Hot Take: Today I'm sharing 7 tips I have for anyone on a healing journey. Especially post-heartbreak, healing is a difficult journey to undergo, especially if you feel alone in it. I remember feeling SO alone in this season a few years ago as I attempted to pick up the pieces of what felt like my entire life after I left my fiancé. I don't think break ups are talked about enough, so im here to help you see that you are not alone in this. Healing is HARD, but it's so important if you're looking to have a healthy relationship with yourself and ultimately with someone else one day. Healing after heartbreak isn’t always the easiest of tasks… 2 years ago I went through one of the hardest seasons of my life after walking away from my fiancé, 2 weeks before our wedding. I remember searching everywhere in hopes of a literal step by step checklist on how to just feel better… but of course, there was no such thing. Heartbreak is unexplainably challenging and I just want you to know if you are dealing with it, you are not alone. And I don’t want you to feel alone, like I did. So, I wanted to let you in on the fact that I am creating a product to help with the post-heartbreak healing that sometimes is so hard to do, especially when you don’t know what to do or where to turn. Let me help. It’s time to heal with purpose and guidance. Go to: https://www.itsanniegraft.com/healing-after-heartbreak and input your email so you’re first to hear about updates! • Hot take: your struggles are actually a superpower, believe it or not. Which i know sounds like toxic positivity, but hear me out. The lessons we learn, the growth we see, and the strength we gain from struggle is something we aren’t able to just happen upon in a picture perfect life. We are shaped and changed my struggle, whatever your struggle my be, and if you choose to see that as a BLESSING, you really can turn it into a super power!! HOT TAKE: Feeling behind in life is a feeling that seems to be more common than you think. Today I'm digging into it and helping you through with it looks like to process that feeling and creating positive action around it, rather than letting it spiral you into a paralyzing shame cycle. Feeling behind in life can come up in 3 different ways: 1. Feeling behind because you're comparing yourself to someone else2. Feeling behind compared to what you WISH your life looked like 3. Feeling behind compared to where you THOUGHT you should be by nowIn this episode I touch on some of the feelings you might be having in each scenario and how to move through that and into something more productive for your life. Moral of the story is that the comparison game is a waste of energy and we NEED to get out of that cycle.I talk a lot about how to get out of the comparison game, how to work through the feeling of shame and what that emotion provokes, and how to see "feeling behind" as more of a SIGN to signal either a change of course or just continuing with consistency in what you're after! • Hey y'all, its Annie.... WE'RE BACK GETTIN UNCOMFY & I'M SO GLAD YOU'RE HERE WITH ME! Today we're diving into the first episode of this season where I uncover the reasons I decided to leave Mykonos after saying I would stay and work there for the entire summer... The practice of leaving my ego behind and walking away from something that isn't for me is something I learned years ago when I walked away from my engagement, 2 weeks before what was supposed to be my wedding day. Ditching the ego to DECIDE I needed to walk away was hard, but aaaactually building up the courage to physically leave was even harder. So today, we are diving into THAT. I share my experience with Mykonos, and also touch on the event a few years ago that taught me this hard lesson first. • Hustle Culture Drop Out:what is hustle culture?Hustle culture carries this overarching belief that the more you do, the more valuable you areProponents of hustle culture will tell you that "busier always equals better,” and that constant busyness will always lead to more money, prestige, happiness and high self-esteem.While hustle culture glorifies overworking as a badge of honor, it often sets up an environment of fear, guilt and shame, especially when you don’t feel like running at the same pace as everyone around you-Why was I apart of it?-What did I get from it?Burnout!!is when you get to that mental and emotional exhaustion where it just feels like you can't add anything else to the plate and maybe don't have the motivation in the way that you did beforeBurnout can look like: Take longer to do tasks Procrastinate or avoid work altogether Make more mistakes when doing tasks Lose interest in parts of your job you used to really enjoy Feel more anxious or depressedHow to escape hustle culture: Keep track of your energy levels. Get clear on your end goal and priorities Schedule your rest days and YOU time. Look at which tasks you like doing and actually make the biggest impact in your life. Get clear on your boundaries. • What is up my friend! By the time you hear this, it is NOVEMBER, the year is legitimately flying by. This podcast has been a shining light in my life for a year now and I am so grateful for everyone who has followed along. I am so thankful to get to be a part of your journey to self-discovery.

Today we are talking about the 7 things that mentally strong people have in common. Of course, there are many things that can be on this ist but I wanted to share the ones that came up for me the most. Mental health has been on my mind because we are moving into wintertime when mental health tends to become a challenge, people get seasonal depression, the days are shorter, it gets colder and we all need a little more to keep us going.

So my hope is that one of these 7 things inspires you to take action in your life.

Uncomfy moments you don’t want to miss:

(5:47) #1: A mentally strong person moves on, they feel their feelings and process them.

(8:46) #2: Mentally strong people embrace change, they adapt, they figure it out.

(12:00) #3: A mentally strong person actively chooses to be happy, they start their day with intention and take action.

(16:19) #4: A mentally strong person is not judgemental

(19:20) #5: A mentally strong person is willing to take risks

(21:42) #6: A mentally strong person celebrates others successes

(23:30) #7: A mentally strong person is confident
