  • Hey everyone, welcome back to MOVIE Morning. X-Men '97, the Marvel Studios revival of the original X-Men Animated Series has now begun on Disney+ with its first two episodes. I LOVE the X-Men and they've been out of the limelight for a few too many years so it's great to see iconic versions of these characters back on the small screen again. I also grew up watching the original 90's show which is still a blast and told some great stories but I was fascinated as to how that show would translate to modern day. So, does X-Men '97 continue the great social commentary and epic action of the original series... or is it yet another show on the pile of Disney+ disappointments? Find out in this SPOILER-FREE review.

Synopsis: X-Men '97 revisits the iconic era of the 1990s as The X-Men, a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them, are challenged like never before, forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future. - Marvel Animation

  • Hey everyone, it's finally happening! A Teen Titans movie is finally in the works at Warner Bros., and specifically DC Studios courtesy of James Gunn. The Hollywood Reporter revealed a couple of hours ago that Ana Noguiera (writer of the upcoming 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow') has been tapped to write the screenplay. The Teen Titans have featured some of my favorite DC heroes ever since I was a kid and I talk about the HUGE potential of this film, as well as the characters I'd like to see on the team, in this episode right here... as well as how they might fit into James Gunn's 10-year, 2-chapter plan for the DCU!

  • Hey everyone, with the HUGE (and surprise) box office success of Kung Fu Panda 4 so far, I wanted to continue the discussion about one of the most meaningful film franchises to me - the Kung Fu Panda series. This ranking will include SPOILERS for the first three films but NOT Kung Fu Panda 4. Let me know what your favorite Kung Fu Panda film is using the poll. Thanks for listening and enjoy!

  • Hey everyone, the first season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters - the Monster-Verse spin-off show about the Monarch organization and its origins - just wrapped up with its finale on Apple TV+. I have not been a huge fan of this iteration of the Monster-Verse from WB but the glowing reviews for Monarch had me intrigued. I binged a number of the episodes a couple of weeks back to get caught up to watch the final few episodes as they released. So, does Monarch follow the trend of the movies in this franchise and focus on boring human characters... or is it a breath of fresh air? Find out in this review.
Synopsis: Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” tracks two siblings following in their father's footsteps to uncover their family's connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch - Apple TV+

  • Hey everyone, Marvel Studios' Echo - their first TV-MA rated streaming series and first to be released all at once - has dropped on Disney+. As someone who absolutely ADORES Daredevil and really enjoyed Hawkeye, I was hoping this show would be another win for the street-level corner of the MCU but all the behind-the-scenes troubles had me worried. Anyways, here is my SPOILER REVIEW of Echo.

  • Hey everyone, 2024 has arrived and we have a whole new slate of films to look forward to. From sequels, such as Kung Fu Panda 4 and Gladiator II, to prequels, such as Furiosa and A Quiet Place: Day One, to high-profile directors returning, with films such as Mickey 17 and IF, this year is PACKED with a wide variety of films. This most anticipated list is one of the hardest ones I've done in a while, partially because the slate does feel a little lighter on the comic book and action movie side but that just means that more movies will get represented here which is always great. So, here we go: my most anticipated movies of 2024!

  • Hello everyone and happy new year! 2024 has begun (pretty slowly for me personally) but another year has come and went so its time to do one of my favorite things on the show: rank my top 10 favorite movies of the previous year. 2023 was a wild year: surefire hits disappointed audiences AND bombed at the box office while there were many surprise breakout films as the highest grossing ones of the year. So, does my list reflect a lot of those trends or is it still dominated by blockbusters and films I often cover on the show? Find out in this episode and make sure to share what your favorite movie of 2023 was!!

  • Hey everyone, here we are... the end of the 10-year long, tumultuous journey that was the DCEU that initially started with Man of Steel. James Gunn's DCU kicks off with Creature Commandos next year but before we look to the future, I think its important to celebrate what we have, especially with me being one of the few (at least it seems like) defenders of the universe despite how messy it is. Spoilers will of course follow for all the films on this list. So, its time to rank the DCEU... ONE FINAL TIME.

  • Hey everyone, the sequel to the 2018 $1B-dollar grossing Aquaman has now released and apparently, it is the final film of the DCEU and the current era of DC films... before James Gunn's DCU kicks off with Max's Creature Commandos in 2024. The first film in the DCU will be Gunn's Superman: Legacy. Getting back to Aquaman, I highly enjoyed the first movie and have really dug the trailers for this sequel but the rumors of extensive plot reworking and poor test screenings over the past two years have had me concerned. So, does James Wan deliver yet another over the top, bombastic blockbuster or does the DCEU end on a ginormous fizzle? Find out in this NON-SPOILER review.

  • Hey everyone, what some are calling the cinematic family event of the holiday season - Wonka - has hit theaters. From the director of the two Paddington films comes a Willy Wonka prequel that (apparently) is meant to precede the events of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, starring Gene Wilder. I was interested in this movie based on the director alone, despite being a huge fan of the Roald Dahl story when I was younger. I went in hoping for a big and light-hearted fun time. Is that what I got? Find out in this review.
