  • We have a juicy episode for you today my loves. A slightly different format than our usual episodes.

Ya gurl fell in love, and this is our story. I called in a super aligned energetic match - and have been in a love and healing portal this summer.

I have felt so expanded by the journey that I had to bring it to the pod.

This is a two part episode, the first one is juicy soft feminine vibe that has lessons woven throughout.

We speak into the realms of tūrangawaewae and ūkaipō, recognising and trusting synchronicities, building trust through intamacy and men developing emotional intelligence to support holding a women with emotional depth.

He has been working on some big missions to create impact including economic empowerment of Māori communities through founding Te Whare Hukaka, helping shift our education system, and more recently food sovereignty and resilience through a nutrition venture called elemental food, providing daily nutrition from natural superfoods. He has been an advisor and coach to hundreds of organisations leaders and has a wealth of concepts around personal growth and development.

And if I do say so myself, he’s the perfect match for me.

  • Moving our mindset to a more indigenous view will help heal this world. From education to agriculture, from mental health to being community led. The indigenous view communicates our oneness with nature, it highlights a holistic approach and awakens ancient medicine.

Today I am speaking to Amelia Butler, an educator and lover of Māori culture and language. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree and Māori Land Law degree from the University of Auckland. She is on a mission to educate about the term “reindigenisation” and feels it is a powerful word to reclaim our Māoritanga. How can we move away from centering the colonisor on our reclamation journey and instead feed ourselves with indigenous practices to develop a more indigenous mindset and way of living.

Whether you are on your Te Reo Māori journey or curious about indigenous culture this episode is hugely educational, insightful and inspiring.

    WHAT WE COVER:

  • In today’s episode, we are talking about education and decolonisation.
Two massive topics. Let’s dive in.

We talk about creating a pepeha as a pakeha person in Aotearoa and the unique experience of being pakeha that attended a full immersion Māori school.

On the podcast, today is Kiridwen (Kiri) Olds.
She passionate about education, social justice and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Kiri graduated from Victoria University in 2015 with a BA in Environmental Studies, Te Reo Māori and Māori Studies, and received her Masters of Teaching and Learning with Distinction from AUT in 2021. Her passion for education stems from a belief that our tamariki are powerful motivators for change, individually, within whānau, and across communities. She believes that it is important, now more than ever, for our tamariki to grow up with a strong connection, understanding and respect for Papatūānuku and a belief that what they do makes a difference.

She has been involved in many community organisations including as co-director of The Brothers & Sisters Collective (a creative collective that works across community, arts, and education).

We discuss a fascinating philosophy called ‘The Pikler Theory’ that surrounds infants and children, and the need for change in our educational system.

Kiri co-facilitates courses about the Te Tiriti of Waitangi and discusses her position as a tangata o te Tiriti and how that plays into her obligation to educate on Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Kiri is one of my closest friends, I am honoured to bring this conversation to you.

    What we cover:
Creating a pepeha as a Pakeha person in Aotearoa
    Children's rights
    The education system in Aotearoa
The Pikler Theory and how it can support infants and toddlers
