Rebekah Robertson is an actor, author and activist. Her book About A Girl- A Mother’s Powerful Story About Raising Her Transgender Child details her incredible relationship with her daughter Georgie. Together they challenged the Family Courts decree that children must apply to them before accessing puberty blockers. In 2012 Rebekah founded Transcend Australia, the first organisation to support the families of transchildren. It wasn’t an easy path but Rebekah’s actions have made the world a better place for transchildren and their families across Australia. Ka Wai Yeung - Buildings that create connection
What impact can a building have on a community? Ka Wai Yeung, Director and cofounder of Kaunitz Yeung Architecture, has seen the difference a good building can make. Her firm co–designs their buildings with locals in remote and regional Australia, the Pacific Islands and post- disaster countries in the Asia Pacific. Casey Beros - Using social media for social good
Casey Beros turned to her skills in writing and health communication when her dad Jack was diagnosed with mesothelioma. Flying across the country to be by his side and to support him through this terrible illness, she and Jack decided that they could use their experience to help others. And so Next of Kin was born. Through a series of deeply personal social media posts and informative articles Casey hopes to hold the hand of others going through the painful experience of caring for a loved one who is dying. As a stylist for magazines and advertising Amelia McFarlane’s job was to make people look good. But what she wanted was to help people feel good. She started her company Colour Me In Styling to help men and women embrace their self expression. Amelia believes there is a joy to dressing and has seen the transformation in her clients when they find their own style. At only 20 years of age Nic Marchesi and his best friend Lucas Patchett started a mobile laundry service to allow homeless people the simple dignity of access to clean clothes. A decade on from founding their company Orange Sky Nic and Lucas have helped thousands of people across Australia and New Zealand and expanded their service to include hot showers and a space for genuine, non-judgmental connection. Nic talks about the challenges of growing a social enterprise and the satisfaction of seeing the impact such a simple idea has had.

Eileen Hall was practicing yoga before there was a yoga school in every suburb. She was trained by two renowned teachers- BKS Iyenga and Pattabhi Jois. This year she opened Om House in Bondi Beach’s Hall St where she teaches packed classes every day. Eileen shares how she knew that teaching yoga was her life’s work and why she keeps going even when the going’s tough.
