  • Today With Eddie Maestri:

In today’s episode we’ll be touching on a topic I love, project autopsies. My guest today, Eddie Maestri, has also found these autopsies to help not only improve his overall business, but also the relationship with his team members.
Eddie Maestri started designing homes in Dallas in 2004 and officially founded Maestri Studio in 2008. Certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), he is a registered architect in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Nevada.
Eddie delivers custom architecture and interiors tailored to his client’s style and needs. Each project influenced by the grand, yet approachable architecture of his hometown, the clean lines and patterns of mid-century design, and his exposure to far away places through his love of travel.

  • Today With Leslie Carothers:

Welcome to a Well-Designed Business. You’ve probably heard about new technology developing—AI, chatGPT, the metaverse—all the things. But are you jumping on the bandwagon?
Today Leslie Carothers of Savour Partnership, a digital marketing firm for interior designers, is here to talk about how metaverse applications and AI are changing the future of the world, business in general, and our industry.

    Pick It Apart

[2:30] Leslie unpacks all things metaverse and how they’re being used.

[11:20] Leslie discusses how big brands are using metaverse activations.

[46:54] Leslie and LuAnn talk about AI and its implications for designers.

[0:09] Leslie discusses the ethical implications of AI.

[10:05] Leslie shares a product design project she completed with AI assistance.

LuAnn Nigara and Leslie Carothers' Ah-Ha Moments

“There is nothing that will replace the soul that you bring to a project, there is nothing that will replace the execution ability that you bring to a project. There's nothing that will ever replace the problem-solving ability that you bring to a project. And there's nothing that will ever replace the therapeutic aspect, as many of you know, that you bring to a project for your clients. You are irreplaceable as designers. So you never have to worry about AI replacing, in my opinion, ever, your jobs.” -Leslie

  • Today With Matthew Finlin:

Welcome to a Well-Designed Business. If you’re a long-time listener of the show, you already know that I was a salesperson basically from birth. Selling is a part of my nature. But for most designers, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Why is that? Why do some of us gravitate toward selling while it sends others into a panic? My guest today, Matthew Finlin, CEO of The Human Potential Academy, believes he knows—and he’s shedding light on why this happens and what designers can do to bring more assertiveness into the process and close with confidence and compassion.

    Pick It Apart

[2:58] Matthew explains why creatives have a natural resistance toward sales.

[7:10] Matthew dives into personality traits and their impact on business and relationships.

[17:48] LuAnn and Matthew discuss why designers struggle to set boundaries and why they need to learn how.

[32:51] Matthew and LuAnn dive into how our personality traits impact our pricing.

[36:32] LuAnn and Matthew highlight why confidence matters in pricing and selling.

LuAnn Nigara and Matthew Finlin's Ah-Ha Moments

“Compassionate closing is all about recognizing that if you have a product or service that you truly believe is going to benefit this person and change their life positively.” -Matthew

“You really need one thing to be good at sales. And it's not knowledge, unfortunately. You actually just need confidence.” -Matthew

“I don't care how wealthy you are wants to overpay. That's the truth. But what I know from all the interviews I've done is that 99% of designers are going to deliver their heart and soul into the project—they just need to convey their value.” -LuAnn

    More About Matthew Finlin

  • Today With April Gandy:

Today on A Well-Designed Business I am joined by April Gandy, owner and Principal Designer of Allure Designs. With six successful years in the design industry and an appearance on HGTV, April could teach us a lot! But today she wanted the focus to be on what you, and your client, can expect both mentally and financially when working on a renovation project.
This is an episode that will give you simple AHA moments. Any episode where my guest wants to help with the process with our clients, is a win.

    Pick It Apart

[3:28] April starts us off on the things designers should walk clients through when doing a renovation.

[14:12] April explains how designers formulate that initial investment range to their clients in the beginning without a spec book.

[19:55] What April includes in her design fee.

[33:24] Things April has learned to avoid and/or keep doing from experience.

[36:15] LuAnn and April talk about April’s “Erika Ward transferable skill,” and how valuable these skills are for designers.

[46:23] The level of detail that April and her team goes with client checklists that they follow.

[51:27] April tells us about the group coaching she does.

LuAnn Nigara and April Gandy's Ah-Ha Moments

“Understanding what you are doing before you do it is going to help you keep your time lines and budgets in check, but also your client in check,” - April Gandy

“The more information that you give them from the start, the more you ensure them that you know what you are doing and they’ll trust you,” - April Gandy.

    More About April Gandy

I'm from Chicago’s Avalon Park neighborhood on city’s south side. Growing up in the inner city provided me with a strong foundation in which failure was not an option. I vowed to overcome my circumstances and to create a better life for myself and my family. After graduating from St. Francis de Sales High School, I went on to college at Northern Illinois University and became the first in my family to graduate from a university. During this time, I joined the US Air Force Reserve in 2000 and proudly served our country for 21 years. I pledged the greatest Sorority in the world, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc in 2002. I later graduated with a BA in Criminology and went on to complete an MEd in Instructional Design (much different than interior design lol).
I started my design career journey in 2006. At the age of 23, I bought my first piece of property; a 700 square foot fixer–upper condominium in the west suburbs of Chicago. As an impecunious single mother, I had to think outside the box to bring my new home to life. I taught myself many things on the road to transforming my fixer–upper into a beautiful home. During this undertaking, I realized I enjoyed the process of home improvement. Throughout the years, my skills evolved and I began assisting family and friends in making their homes beautiful. After a decade of working on personal projects, I decided to make the business official and pursued an interior design career. I created Alluring Designs Chicago in 2017. I partnered with my mother, Valerie Steward, and close family friend, Jennifer Anderson, to breathe life into this business venture. Together we
have overseen multiple renovation projects and countless room makeovers. Our team dynamic is seamless and together we bring so much value to every project. Although becoming owner and Principal Designer of my interior design firm, my expansion mission includes founding a community development organization dedicated to building beautiful homes in the inner city. The vision is to make communities beautiful one home at a time. Let's get to work!

  • Today With Christina Frei:

Today on A Well-Designed Business I am joined by Christina Frei, owner of Innate Marketing Genius, a boutique marketing practice where she helps solo business owners own their voice, market to their strengths, and get the right clients consistently. Christina takes a holistic approach to marketing, and helps us discover how to market from our strengths by identifying our marketing archetype.
In this conversation, we dig into what it means to be a Nurturer, Adventure Guide, Door Opener, Steady Presence, and Celebrator, and how this can help you show up better in your business.

    Pick It Apart

[2:38] Christina defines marketing archetypes as different ways to help other people that bring you fulfillment, then shares the 5 different archetypes.

[11:47] Christina breaks down what it means to be an adventure guide, one of LuAnn’s archetypes.

[16:39] LuAnn and Christina discuss that building self-awareness and finding our true voice takes time.

[24:46] Christina explains the celebrator archetype, also LuAnn.

[30:11] LuAnn and Christina explore the combination of her two archetypes and how she exhibits them.

[37:37] LuAnn asks Christina what we should do after we find out what our marketing archetype is.

    LuAnn Nigara & Christina Frei's Ah-Ha Moments

“What I noticed is that when people operate from that deep ‘why’—that fulfilling, helping other humans kind of thing, then it's magnetic.” – Christina Frei

“The way that you [show the person that you are reaching out to that you care] is to honor who you are first, and then come from that place.” – Christina Frei

“When a celebrator steps back and really appreciates other people or their work…it just moves mountains. It just changes something and it up-levels the entire game.” – Christina Frei

“So much starts with being self-aware… If you have self-awareness, you can show up in your blog posts, in your marketing, in your consultations, and in your design” – LuAnn Nigara

“It's so lovely to just validate that every human, I would say, on the entire planet has a natural capacity to want to help other people…the desire to me is miraculous.” – Christina Frei

    More About Christina Frei

Christina runs a boutique marketing practice called Innate Marketing Genius, where she helps solo business owners own their voice, market to their strengths, and get the right clients consistently. Her holistic marketing approach grew out of a lonely, chaotic time, when she moved to Boston all on her own—and discovered her own way to really connect with people.

Personally, she's on a mission to live more sustainably; she is obsessed with thrift shopping and is a new convert to plant-based eating. In between, she chases her dog around with a stuffed animal snake, meditates on a pink couch, cold plunges like Wim Hof all year long, and obsesses over the perfect cup of green tea, all in a seaside town just north of Boston.

  • Today With Emmy Marek:

Today on A Well-Designed Business, I am joined by Emmy Marek of Emmy Couture Designs, an award-winning full-service interior design firm based in Scottsdale, Arizona, and serving clients nationwide.
In 2016, after working for both an architectural design firm and a luxury design-build firm, where she became fluent in creating custom homes, Emmy decided to go into business for herself, opening Emmy Couture when she was only 26 years old. Since then she has spent her time growing her luxury design firm and growing her family.
Now, with two children under the age of five and projects all over the country, Emmy is a study in balance, efficiency, and organization. But she won’t take all the credit. She says it takes having a good team at home and at work is key to making it all happen. Emmy and I are discussing how she manages everything, how she finds time for herself and the relationships that mean the most to her, and why she is driven to do it all.

    Pick It Apart

[2:01] Emmy talks about being a young entrepreneur—starting Emmy Couture when she was only 26 years old and having two children within the next five years.

[6:22] LuAnn asks Emmy what drives her to want to build this luxury design firm during this season of her life with young kids.

[16:29] Emmy speaks about her business growing organically and mainly through referrals, but LuAnn reminds her and everyone listening not to neglect the importance of intentional marketing.

[20:35] Emmy tells LuAnn about her design philosophy and how it crosses many aesthetics according to her individual client’s tastes.

[27:32] LuAnn and Emmy discuss the importance of staying organized and the systems Emmy uses in her business, including how she uses Mydoma.

[33:22] Emmy shares some of the ways she takes care of herself and her relationships.

[42:05] LuAnn and Emmy discuss the importance of knowing your worth and how that ties into the way you run your business.

LuAnn Nigara and Emmy Marek's Ah-Ha Moments

My guests today Shayna Pellino and Evelyn Roberts, creators of 4D Biz, understand that very well. 4D Biz is essentially a virtual team for interior designers, providing the strategy, the marketing, the admin, and even design support at the level you need for your business. Learn how their set up supports designers and why a virtual team might be right for you!

[37:35] Evelyn and Shayna discuss the ways 4Dbiz offers design assistance.

[42:46] Shayna and Evelyn talk about admin support for interior designers.

LuAnn Nigara, Evelyn Roberts & Shayna Pellino's Ah-Ha Moments

“The business can suck the soul out of you if you are overworked, if you are not getting the money that you deserve and you are just putting in endless hours and you're not feeling it in your bank account.” -Shayna

“This new way of doing business is I'm all about it because every single person that works for me has a skill set in an expertise that has been identified as their superpower.” -LuAnn

More About Evelyn Roberts & Shayna Pellino

    About Shayna:
Shayna Rose is the CEO and Founder of both Shayna Rose Interiors and 4Dbiz. Shayna never expected to create the modern business model that would change the way interior designers run their business! 4Dbiz was born out of her own experience, failures, successes, and needs as an interior designer/business owner.
After working in the interior design industry for three years, Shayna knew she had to set out on her own. Working for someone else, Shayna was astounded by the unnecessary obstacles that she was working with - from overly-extended lead times, to a lack of custom solutions, to poor service all along the supply chain. She truly felt she had no choice but to start her own business and revolutionize the industry standard.
In 2017, Shayna Rose Interiors was born, followed by 4Dbiz in 2019. Shayna’s guiding principle is “Everyone wins.” She is most inspired by what other people see as problems. She is a solution-oriented visionary, hell bent on changing people’s lives with her ideas and execution - starting with the design industry.

    About Evelyn:
Evelyn Roberts is the Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of 4Dbiz. After 4 years working in digital marketing for small businesses and tech startups, Evelyn joined Shayna Rose Interiors in 2019. Since then, she has been focused exclusively on marketing for interior designers.
Working with design businesses all over the country, she helps interior designers refine their brand, create concise and powerful messaging, optimize for search engines, and set up automations that save time and achieve results.
Evelyn’s philosophy for marketing in the interior design industry is “less is more.” Understanding the hectic interior designer/business owner lifestyle, she helps designers hone in on the marketing initiatives that will make measurable progress toward their most critical business goals, within their budget.

  • Today With Cory Simon:

Welcome to a Well-Designed Business. There are many designers out there looking to grow and scale their businesses, whether they’re coming in from a different career or launching their own firm. But what if you are working your business as a side hustle—and you actually want to keep it that way?
That’s the situation for my guest today, Cory Simon of 290 Eliot Interiors. She’s working a full-time job, keeping a healthy business on the side, and spending time with her family—all within the same 24 hours a day we all have! You might be wondering how that’s possible—and the answer comes down to efficiency.
This is a must-listen if you are juggling your interior design job as a side hustle, or if you simply want to work less hours and get more done!

    Pick It Apart

[3:02] Cory shares her schedule (and how she manages to run the business working just a couple of hours a day on it!)

[8:27] Cory gives an insight into how planning and communication keep her efficient.

[24:18] LuAnn and Cory discuss how communication and client expectations matter even more when your business is a side hustle.

[33:08] Cory and LuAnn talk about the importance of saying no to the wrong client (and how to do it respectfully).

[47:42] Cory shares how viewing the client through an emotional lens helps her understand them and create a better experience for everyone.

LuAnn Nigara and Cory Simon's Ah-Ha Moments

“There is an emotional element that it is an emotional roller coaster and you're excited and you're frustrated. And every time you turn a corner people want more money. And so I think sometimes we have to really remember the emotional aspect of a renovation because people aren't just saying things, to say things. They're on an emotional journey, as well as kind of the physical journey of their home.” -Cory

“If we could just understand that the job that you say yes to that you know doesn't have the right budget is probably going to take you longer to do and you will actually earn less money at the end when you do the autopsy if you are present enough to do the autopsy of the project. And if you had just said no, you would have either put more energy into a current project and made it that much better or had the time available for a new client to come through the door. But saying yes to the wrong things is rarely a good idea.” -LuAnn

    More About Cory Simon

Cory Simon found her love of interior design through merchandising retail stores for over 15 years. She took her years of experience in space planning, using color and texture, and her ability to focus on the details to bring a space to life and started applying it to residential design. Starting with her own homes, varying in style and layout, along with planning and consulting on projects with friends and family, Cory loves finding the potential in every space to create something that you will reflect your personal style. Her experience in design, planning, and project management will help translate your goals into a reality.

  • Today With Danielle Hendon:

Today on A Well-Designed Business I am joined by Danielle Hendon, owner of 4 Corners CFO. Don’t worry, Danielle is one of those CFO’s who explains money in an understandable way to us “non-finance” people. She shares her six-part framework she uses with her clients, to handling their finances. She and her team offer calculations, information, and tools in an understandable way so then you can do what you want to do with your business.
Danielle has the technical knowledge and over a decade of experience in corporate finance and accounting to small businesses on a scale that fits their budget and their needs, and she’s ready to spill the tea. Enjoy!

    Pick It Apart

[3:42] Danielle starts to walk us through her six part framework for handling your finances.

[14:50] The importance of charging enough for your services.

[16:30] The expense part of Danielle’s framework.

[25:50] Step four of her framework; budget.

[32:03] LuAnn and Danielle talk about step five in the framework, comparing your budget to your actuals

[35:34] The three components of cash that will never show up in your budget.

LuAnn Nigara and Danielle Hendon's Ah-Ha Moments

“When I start looking at revenue and expense with my client, we are going to talk to the bookkeeper and rearrange some things because when you pull up your statements, you should know what they mean,” Danielle Hendon

“Budget is just a plan forward for your business. We take everything we learned in the previous steps and build out a budget for the rest of the year,” Danielle Hendon

    More About Danielle Hendon

Hi! I’m Danielle Hendon – wife, mom, and Virtual CFO to small business owners.

I empower business owners to pay themselves what they’re worth and continue to put more profit in their pocket every year. I do this by helping business owners understand what their financial numbers are and WHY the numbers move. Armed with that understanding, you can take intentional steps to grow your profits.

I bring over a decade of experience in corporate finance and accounting to small businesses on a scale that fits their budget and their needs. My education and certification (as a CPA) gave me the technical knowledge. Using those skills on the job, taught me that accounting and finance is about so much more than numbers. It’s about the people. I LOVE numbers…but I have a genuine passion for people.

When my previous employer closed their doors and severed all the employees, I knew it was time to take my knowledge and passion to the people that needed it most. After helping that big business walk the path of bankruptcy until they were small… and eventually closed… I KNOW how to make big financial concepts fit small business. I started 4 Corners CFO to help business owners take a step back from the burnout, pay themselves what they’re worth, and focus on their joy and reason for serving their clients. This business has given me the opportunity to make a difference in the world because instead of helping big corporations increase share price, I get to help small business owners increase their livelihoods and legacies. And THAT is the best part of running this business

  • Today With Kate Figler:

A Well-Designed Business. Today I have with me Kate Figler, of Kate Figler Interiors. After moving her firm from the northeast to Nashville, Kate exponentially rebuilt and expanded her clientele and became a well-established design name. Kate has this motto that I was excited to dive into with her that can hint: increase your success and profitability.

Listen, to my chat with Kate on the beneficial meaning of “Begin Where You Mean To Go.”

    Pick It Apart

[1:51] Kate explains what she means by “Begin as you mean to go.”

[13:55] How Kate developed her processes and procedures off the bat.

[18:00] Kate’s advice in handling client onboarding.

[29:55] Explaining to the client that things may happen, but giving them comfort that you are prepared for anything and in control.

[37:40] Make sure your clients know that you respect the trades.

[40:35] Kate explains her philosophy on chasing opportunities.

LuAnn Nigara and Kate Figler's Ah-Ha Moments “A lot of people feel intimidated by the business aspect of this industry. Don’t be. You can learn it. There are millions of people out there you can reach out to. And if it isn’t making sense to you from one person, you can call someone else. Keep going until it makes sense to you.” - Kate Figler
“Begin where you mean to go to means that getting it done ahead of time ensures that you’re ready for when the train starts to go,” - LuAnn Nigara
    More About Kate Figler

Kate Figler is a Nashville-based designer who specializes in layered and timeless interiors that speak to her clients’ unique personalities and taste. A lover of color and pattern, Kate strives to create spaces that mix luxurious fabrics, natural textures, and both traditional and contemporary elements.
A graduate of Georgetown and Columbia Universities, Kate originally pursued a career in elementary education as a kindergarten teacher. However, after several back-to-back moves, she discovered her passion for renovating and decorating homes. As a mother of three children, she understands the importance of merging beautiful design with functionality — a practice she believes defines her approach. Kate comes from a long line of family-run businesses, and her years spent working in her mother’s restaurant instilled the responsibility she feels to her clients and their overall experience. She commits fully to her projects, striving to make them fun, efficient and collaborative.

While born and raised in New England, Kate’s relocation to Nashville helped distinguish her style and aesthetic. Her rooms blend both the charm of the Northeast and the tradition of the South. You’ll see a mix of elegant antiques, gorgeous textiles, and fresh interpretations of classic designs that all work together to make her rooms one of a kind.

Kate’s work has been seen in Nashville Lifestyles magazine where she was named one of Nashville’s “Up and Coming Designers” in 2021.

  • Today With Lorna Gross:

Today on A Well-Designed Business, I am joined by Lorna Gross, owner of Lorna Gross Interior Design. After finishing two business degrees and leading a very successful life in corporate America, Lorna ended up disappointed and unhappy. Even as successful as she was with winning awards and being up for a promotion. It was time for her to pivot. Lorna and I discuss the art of pivoting, how to recognize when you should, and how to confidently execute it.

Pick It Apart [2:40] Lorna starts us off with her background and growing up.
[8:00] Lorna talks about her journey to discover what she is supposed to be doing for a living.
[19:30] The importance of taking the time go sit in silence with yourself.
[28:50] Recognizing the signal of when people complement you or tell you you have a knack in something.
[50:10] Lorna’s plans including her podcast, a streaming service, book, and more all in addition to her interior design firm.
[51:30] Lorna expands on how everyone has different seasons in their lives.
[58:40] The importance of asking yourself what YOU want.
LuAnn Nigara and Lorna Gross's Ah-Ha Moments

“I believe the universe does these things to us to get us to make a different move.” - Lorna Gross

“I am believer that everything is for a season. The key is recognizing when that season is over.” - Lorna Gross

“You have to risk failure to get to the next thing you should be doing. Sometimes it will take you several times, sometimes it will take one time. As long as you’re not stuck in the season you shouldn’t be in.” - LuAnn Nigara

  • Today With Fred Berns:

Today on A Well-Designed Business I am joined by Fred Berns. Fred has been on the show many times, and I often refer to him when I talk about finding your Fred Berns Only. Knowing your “only” is essential.

After working in the interior design industry as a business coach, speaker, and copywriter for 35 years, Fred has spent the past five years traveling the world. He visited 33 countries on four continents, and talked to business owners everywhere he went.

Fred has studied the most successful business professionals across many industries around the globe, and he discovered they all share several traits.

Today Fred is here to explain The Five Things these people have in common, along with actionable ways we can bring these habits into our own lives and businesses.

[20:05] Fred and LuAnn talk about leaving money on the table and the importance of the fourth habit: Know the next step.

[25:59] LuAnn and Fred discuss the fifth habit: Be Persistent

LuAnn Nigara and Fred Berns's Ah-Ha Moments “What are the five things you need to do tomorrow? So that when you arrive at your office, or you start work the next day, you have a roadmap, you know what you're doing, you know what the day calls for.” – Fred Berns
“Success leaves clues.” – Fred Berns
“It's a matter of changing your focus from being afraid of not achieving your goal to figuring out how you can do it.” – Fred Berns
“Think big. Aim high.” – LuAnn Nigara

“Your client wants you to take them by the hand and explain to them what we do next.” – Fred Berns

“Successful people reflect on what they did right, and what they need to learn from and do differently the next time.” – LuAnn Nigara
    More About Fred Berns

Fred Berns has traveled the world in the five years since he retired from the interior design industry, and he’s learned a lot about small business success in the process.

“Success Shortcuts” has been a key topic of his conversations with entrepreneurs during his travels to 33 countries on four continents.

His international travels mark the latest chapter in a career that included more than 35 years as a business coach, copy writer and speaker in the interior design industry.

During that span, he trained design professionals on how to dramatically increase sales by promoting themselves more effectively. He spoke at design industry events around the world, and coached and wrote bios, website copy and other promotional materials for design professionals from Dallas to Dubai.

At the same time, he published a blog and newsletter that reached thousands of design professionals around the world, and he created a collection of books, videos and other business building resources for the interior design industry.

  • Today With Marilyn Watson-LaVergne:

Today on A Well-Designed Business I am joined Marilyn Watson-LaVergne.
In her first career, Marilyn worked in marketing and public relations in New York City, witnessing the progression of branding for products and creative services, including interior design.
Now a seasoned designer and owner of Marilyn LaVergne Interiors, Marilyn is teaching us that we can’t be all the things to all the people—and what to do instead.
It all starts with identifying what you believe and finding your point of differentiation, because clients don’t buy what we do. They buy what we believe.
Listen now to my chat with Marilyn to learn how to take this first step and where it will lead you.

    Pick It Apart

[4:50] Marilyn explains the nuances and expertise that go into interior design.

[10:11] Marilyn talks about how she became passionate about design and transitioned out of marketing to become a designer.

[14:39] LuAnn and Marilyn discuss the impact a designer can have on their clients’ homes and lives, and what opportunities will bring the best outcomes.

[21:01] Marilyn suggests once you find your “only,” narrow your focus and seek customers who need that specific trait.

[27:35] Marilyn emphasizes that designers are not a commodity.

[39:00] Marilyn and LuAnn discuss the challenges of working in a creative industry, but understanding that what you offer will solve a problem or create an opportunity for your clients will benefit you both.

LuAnn Nigara and Marilyn Watson-LaVergne's Ah-Ha Moments “Clients don’t buy what we do, they buy what we believe.” – Marilyn Watson-LaVergne (quoting Simon Sinek)

“You have a specialized service [as a] designer. That means you have a specialized client.” – Marilyn Watson-LaVergne

“If we mean everything to everybody, then we actually mean nothing to anybody.” - Marilyn Watson-LaVergne

“You have something. You may not see it. And it might be because it's so close to what you do that you don’t realize how valuable it is.” – LuAnn Nigara

“You have to know that what you're offering is a solution to a really big problem or you're capturing an opportunity. But either way, you are leaving your client in a better position than they were before the two of you met.” - Marilyn Watson-LaVergne
    More About Marilyn Watson-LaVergne

Marilyn designs residential and boutique commercial interiors for clients seeking to enjoy spaces that showcase their values and amplify their aspirations. Her work features modern lines punched up with aesthetic elements from African, Asian, Middle Eastern and Indigenous cultures.
She begins each project listening to understand clients’ vision, then collaborates to create exceptional living environments.
“Design is about my clients’ future,” Marilyn observes, “So, we aim to transform their highest dreams into living reality. We delivery original spaces filled with inspiration, comfort and pleasure.”
Before design, Marilyn was a New York City publicist -- working, at times, in the interior design industry. Later, she collaborated with architects coordinating façade improvements to downtown buildings.
She earned the Certificate of Interior Design from Parsons School of Design in New York. Then opened Sepia Home, an interior design showroom and art gallery in Montclair, NJ. Later she joined Cabinets to Go, a leading cabinetry retailer, where she designed 100’s of kitchens and bathrooms for clients in the greater New York City area.
