But before we get lost in space, there's a serious topic we need to address: eye syphilis. Don't be ashamed and risk losing an eye. Globally, there are about 12 million new cases of syphilis each year, with approximately 55,400 of them in the United States. Ocular syphilis occurs in an estimated 1% to 5% of neurosyphilis cases in the U.S. While rare, its complications are serious, potentially leading to vision loss and even blindness. The good news is that early and complete antibiotic treatment can cure ocular syphilis. So, stay informed and stay safe, just like our favorite Guardians protecting the galaxy.
