With the year coming to a close, we're discussing my favorite breakout podcaster of the year, Matan Even. Starting out as an activist and one of the youngest internet trolls, it's truly impressive what Matan Even has built in a short amount of time. Have we found a solid replacement for chaos that The Eric Andre show once filled? I think so. I analyze appearances with Howie Mandel, The Legion of Skanks, Togi, Mikki Mase, Whitney Cummings and more to explain why I think Matan deserves to be podcaster of the year. -

Today we're talking about the breakout star of the last year and a half, Adam Ray and his character of Dr. Phil. I talk about how he was able to finally convince me that a good impression is fun to watch, and how all of his well rounded talents allow him to shoot from the hip with the character and land most of his shots. I go over the origin of the character by showing some of Adam's old standup clips and an excerpt from an LA Times article by Ali Lerman. Has any comic had a more impressive and justifiable rise than Adam Ray? -

Considering it's Black Friday, there's gonna be deals online all over the place. If you're trying to buy some equipment, now might be a good time to either get your starter mics or upgrade your current setup. I run through all the microphones I've used and the extremely anecdotal pros and cons of each microphone. An audio engineer or a sound mixer will have different and more in depth opinions, but that's nerd stuff. I'm gonna share the practicality and price point fo each one.

Today my guest is Nick Davis. He's currently producing This Past Weekend with Theo Von, and tells us about his story getting there. From playing poker full time, to interning on the Adam Carolla Show, working with Dr. Drew, starting to work with Theo, to then joining forces with Brendan Schaub for The King and the Sting, and going back to TPW, we hear the entire route Nick took to get him where he is today.

I've shelved this movie review for close to a year, but the people want it. On the surface, Drumline is a really good movie, but if you look a little closer, it's possibly one of the best movies of all time. I have no doubt this movie will get admitted into the Criterion collection and Nick Cannon will be inducted in the acting hall of fame or get a Nobel prize for his performance. Is Drumline about a fatherless kid trying to make his way through the world in this coming of age story? Or is it really a social commentary about how we deal with special needs in today's society? I'll let you be the judge. What should I review next? -

If there's anything we learned during this election season, it's that Baron Trump has been giving pretty solid advice to his dad on what podcast circuits to hit on the campaign trail. A more interesting story to me is how/when YouTube chooses to suppress views to some of those videos, and what the options are when that happens. Weather a video is being utilized as a campaign tactic or just a video that barely aligns with views of some decision makers at YouTube, it's wild when you can see a video getting throttled with nothing to do about, like the guys over at Channel 5 News. If there's anyone that's been a champion of free speech, love him or hate him, has been owner of Tesla, Space X, and x/Twitter, Elon Musk. Does this mean Twitter is a viable place to upload your content? Like everyone on YouTube, we analyze what Mr. Beast has been doing, and then basing our decisions on what he's ultimately decided. -

This week's episode is special. Everyone from AOC to any other political pundit is talking about how terrible of a choice Tony Hinchcliffe was for Donald Trump's political rally, but to me, this is a HUGE milestone for the comedy space. For an industry that mainly sold flesh lights and men's wellness pills, comedy podcasts sure are taking a bigger slice of political campaign strategy than anyone ever expected. Presidential candidates and their running mates are going on podcasts like Call Her Daddy, This Past Weekend with Theo Von, Flagrant, Club Shay Shay... they're even hiring comedians to perform jokes at their rallies. And people are scrutinizing these jokes like children that don't understand the purpose of a joke... a statement that prioritizes making you laugh and throws truth to the wayside. What a time to be alive. -

So Brendan Schaub and Nate Diaz reignited their beef and it's getting HEATED. I give context from their encounter in 2017 at the Conor McGregor VS Floyd Mayweather boxing match to Nate making fun of Brendan for getting emotional over Shane Carwin's state. I show some of my favorite moments from the 20 minute rant on The Schaub Show and how badly I want to gamble on this fight. Who do you have winning this fight? -
The new Joker movie is out, Tim Dillon is in it, critics absolutely hate it, and Tim piles on to it. In this episode we review some of the most insane things I've heard an actor say about the film they're in. We take a look at what he had to say about the Todd Phillips movie with Annie Lederman and on The Tim Dillon Show, and compare it to how Sam Morril and Marc Maron talked about the original Joker movie. Was it insane for Tim to take this approach? Definitely. But does it makes sense for him in the long run? Lets analyze it.

In this episode, I'm going to cover one of the best episodes of any podcast ever created, when Jon Lovitz was a guest on Bill Burr's Monday Morning Podcast on Thursdays. I discuss some previous seemingly disasterous podcast appearances and try to figure out why Jon Lovitz was as great of a guest as he was. I look into some old school East Coast comedian banter from the Opie and Anthony days with Patrice O'Neil and Louis CK and go over the infamous Philly Rant. Is there anyone you've seen Bill Burr jive with better?

WE. DON'T MISS. UPLOADS.
It's been over a year since I posted my first video on my own on this channel. We've covered a lot of topics and had a lot of fun doing it, and we're gonna keep doing it.
Today, I ramble about my FOMO of Skankfest Las Vegas 2024 and pay tribute to all of my executive producers for the last year. -

Some see the tides turning on specific podcasts, but is it more a signal of the business model as a whole? In this episode, I lay out the argument that through a combo of the pandemic and Hollywood strikes, Podcasts had an environment to thrive in, but we might be in the middle of a correction. What do you think? -

Today's episode is special. We're trying out a new format where I go out and audit YouTube channels. Today I'm putting Armchair Expert with Dax Shephard under my microscope. It started appearing on my YouTube algorithm a few weeks ago so I decided to dig and see what I could figure out. I look into the new deal he struck with Amazon's podcast company, Wondery, and what that actually means and how it functions for Dax and Monica Padman. I take a look at playlists, channel layouts, and give my opinion on how they uploaded the entire back catalog at once. Was this a solid launch strategy? -

I always read a lot of valid complaints about podcasts, but I hear about an equal amount of invalid ones. The biggest one being "unnecessary self censorship." Yes, we all know YouTube used to be the Wild Wild West and you could pretty much say anything and show anything, but as more and more mothers began clutching their pearls, more and more rules got put in place. Even if those rules weren't meant for comedy podcasts, they're not excluded from now following those rules. And breaking any of those rules becomes a whole mess that no one wants to deal with. Who's fault is it that this system is so flawed? The answer is clear: it's YouTube's fault. Is it too late to fix it? Probably. But if podcast fans started complaining to YouTube more than podcasters, the complaints might actually reach the right people that can make a change. Until then, enjoy the watered down version of what you used to like. -
This week I discuss a case study where I helped a client achieve huge views cheaply by shifting their focus. A lot of people think they need a big production studio and expensive equipment, but this case study proves something more important will actually be the thing responsible for your big views... the quality of your subject matter. You can get big views with a smart phone and a $60 microphone.

How do you handle a difficult podcast guest? Today's episode is about how I've gone about difficult guests we've booked in the past. It's never fun to interact with someone standoffish, but sometimes you need to be in uncomfortable situations to get the job done. -

People have been asking how podcast networks operate, how they form, and what it's like to be a part of one and if it's worth it. I talk about my role in helping build YMH Studios into the launching pad for Dr. Drew After Dark, The HoneyDew w/ Ryan Sickler, 2 Bears 1 Cave and more. Is it easy? No. Is it hard. Yeah, a lot. -

There's a lot of reasons to start a podcast, but this episode we're discussing the 3 biggest obstacles in starting a podcast, or any form of channel that creates content: 1) it's going to take a long time 2) you need to care A LOT 3) it's going to take a lot of your time and/or money. Are those deterrents for you? How bad do you want it?

This episode covers one way big podcasts make money: selling merchandise. We talk about the different levels of selling merch to consumers and the variables that affect profit margins. Selling posters have great margins but do t-shirts have the best sweet spot?
