  • You know you don't have to listen to the voices in your head.

After our last heavy-hitting movie Pip and I decided to do something a little more fun - The Voices (2014)

Jerry (Ryan Reynolds) hears voices....namely coming from Bosco his dog and Mr. Whiskers his cat. But he deals with it because when he does take his medication the world is grey and uninviting. At work he falls in love with Fiona, a British woman in accounting and cannot see that Lisa (Anna Kendrick) definitely has a thing for him. It's a comedy of a love-triangle that's all fun and games until someone trips and gets accidently stabbed over and over again.

So never forget to feed your pets, make some room in the fridge and sing yourself a happy song as we try to ignore all The Voices (2014)

Ryan and I love a good old horror movie so this week we went with - Creature From The Black Lagoon (1954)

Professor Carl discovers a mysterious fossil that has the science community stumped. Together with David, Mark and Kay they set out into the Amazon to find the rest of the remains and determine if this is the missing link. They're soon told of a lagoon nearby where the rest of the rocks may have been carried and so they go off to explore...but what if the creature they thought long since dead was watching them from beneath the murky waters?

So don't argue with the Captain, grab a pair of aqualungs and hide the women inside as we hunt for the Creature From The Black Lagoon (1954)

We're back with arguably one of the last quintessential slasher movies. Thank you Kat - Scream (1996)

One year after her Mother's death Sydney (Neve Campbell) is still struggling to come to terms with what happened and the crazed killer who now sits on trial. Meanwhile a new series of killings have just begun. Casey (Drew Barrymore) and her boyfriend are killed one night. Police are on the case but the suspects are too numerous and as more time passes, more bodies hit the floor. It could be any of the kids. It could be the rookie Deputy Dewey (David Arquette). It could the hungry for fame reporter Gale Weathers (Courtney Cox). Only time will tell as we solve the mystery...or at least try to survive the weekend.

So remember the rules of horror movies, ignore the ringing phone and don't trust anyone as we let out one last blood curdling Scream (1996)

  • When you wish upon a....dismembered shrunken monkey's paw.

JP and I delve into the retelling of the classic tale 'be careful what you wish for' with - The Monkey's Paw (2013)

Jake is a bit of a screw up at work, along with his friend Cobb (Stephen Lang). After one too many mistakes it's in fact their boss who gets fired, not them. They strive to make things right and apologize to their ex-boss who says there's no hard feelings, in fact they have a gift. Jake is granted a monkey's paw and told that it has the power to make any man's dreams come true...but as always, you should be careful what you wish for.

So make nice with the waitress at the bar, take your new car for a joyride and borrow a gun from your best mate as we wish upon The Monkey's Paw (2013)

Brynn lives at the outskirts of town, it takes a lot of prep and willpower to travel to the inner circle where people roam. Everyone there seems to have it out for her with Brynn receiving abusive calls, whispered glances and cold shoulders but she herself keeps busy with a myriad of hobbies. Strange patches of dead grass are appearing in her front lawn but things begin to get really out of hand when a stranger comes knocking in the dead of night.

They don't really think much of it until later when they see the driver dumping suspiciously wrapped packages down the rusted pipe of an abandoned building. This week we're exploring something breathtaking as Kat D and I watch - Belladonna Of Sadness (1973)

Presented as a fairytale we follow Jean and Jeanne as they struggle to make their love endure. They wish to wed but the Lord of the kingdom demands payment for permission. Cruel and unforgiving, Jeanne is left scarred and not even the love of Jean can make this right so she turns to a voice which promises her everything she desires and more.

A Japanese Anime movie with the aesthetics of a watercolour painting Belladonna Of Sadness is a visual spectacle that we strive to piece together.

This week we're indulging in a ghost story as Dylan shows me - The Innkeepers (2011)

The Yankee Peddler is soon going out of business. The upper floors are already cleared out and they're down to a staff of two. Luke and Claire have found ways to entertain themselves though. They're on the hunt for the ghost of Madeline O'Malley who supposedly died in the hotel in a fit of passion and despair. You might say that some things are better left buried in the basement.

So race for the bell, stock up on towels and scare eight-year-olds by torchlight as we check in with The Innkeepers (2011)

The Blob is on a rampage and with every morsel devoured it only continues to grow. It's up to a highschool cheerleader, jock and the town rebel to put this extraterrestrial menace out of harms way. • We may in fact never sleep again.

Sam has re-joined me to tackle one of the all-time classic 80's slasher with - A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984).

Tina has been having terrifying dreams of a man with knives for fingers, he chases her and she always gets away just in time. Weirder still, she's not the only one having bad dreams. Nancy, Glen (Johnny Depp) and even tough guy Rod have mentioned having trouble sleeping - though they don't say why. It isn't long before everything starts unraveling and a secret the towns parents have held for years finally comes to light.

So pour yourself another cup of coffee, promise you'll stay awake this time, and roll around on the ceiling as we wake up screaming in the middle of the night from A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984)

Brand new voice to the show Raymond had never seen this very iconic movie so naturally we had to rectify that - Alien (1979)

The crew of the mineral transport ship the Nostromo are woken from cryo-sleep by Mother, the ship's computer, to investigate a possible SOS signal from a local planet. Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), Dallis, Lambert, Cain (John Hurt), Brett, Parker & Ash (Ian Holm) venture down to the planet below. There's more to discover here that just the source of the signal as the crew comes face to face with the 'perfect organism'.

So MacGyver yourself a flamethrower, chain-smoke yourself a pack of cigarettes and sit in silence for final words as we are met by something completely Alien (1979)

This week Sarah and I are tackling a movie that's become something of a indie darling - Talk To Me (2022)

Life has been tough for Mia since her Mother died a few years ago. She's been semi-adopted by her best friend's family and luckily this has somewhat kept the emptiness at bay. But there's a new sensation about town that's all the rage. Teenagers are gathering for parties of a supernatural kind and at the center of these is a mysterious ceramic hand that can provide a link between this world and the next.

So start the timer, get your phones ready to record and don't let the spirits stay as I ask my guest to Talk To Me (2022)

  • We're all just part of the machine.

Rory has returned this week to help me take a look at a movie 30 years in the making...Mad God (2021)

Stumble through the insanity of this world. Descend deeper into the depths of depravity, where flesh, blood and bone make good the machines that run your lives. A stunning Claymation work from the creator of some of the most famous Star Wars creatures. A disturbing look into how society functions, how we as a species function - a movie with no dialogue that simply leaves it's story and meaning up to your imagination and interpretation.

So rummage through your innards for a handful of pennies, remember that size is a matter of perspective and hold tight to your suitcase as we fall to our knees and pray to the Mad God (2021)

  • All the woman are just beautiful.

We have a brand new voice to the show this week as Lu joins us for - A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night (2014)

Arash lives in Bad City, a place where the wealthy stay wealthy and the poor turn to crime and drugs to manage the days. Oil rigs churn in the backdrop as he walks the street but there's someone else prowling as the nights pass. Saeed is a local pimp and has Arash under his thumb due to his Father's drug addiction.

The Girl walks the roads of Bad City; she's frail, meek and doe-eyed and it isn't long until she catches the lustful eye of Saeed. There's many strangers in the Bad City and we witness but a handful in this black and white, Persian, vibe dream.

So put on your favourite record, cut yourself a costume and let your burqa billow in the wind while we avoid glancing eyes as A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night (2014)

  • "I'm your biggest fan." - No movie, I'm YOUR biggest fan.

Kat has returned and as promised in our last episode together we're going back to Stephen King's Misery (1990)

Paul Sheldon is the very successful author of the acclaimed period romance novels - the 'Misery' series. He's grown tired and dejected with the series and so in his latest book (which is about to publish) kills off the titular Misery Chastain to write a brand new book, something that means more to him. He finishes the manuscript but as he drives back to New York he has an accident on the road. He's saved by his biggest fan Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates) who's elated to have her favourite author staying with her...but what's sweet Annie's reaction when she reads his latest book?

  • All life begins with a single cell.

Aboard an International Space Station the crew eagerly awaits the return of a pod which was sent to Mars. Among the soil samples they find a single cell, dormant but with the proper atmosphere they coax it back and thus life is born. David (Jake Gyllenhaal) can't imagine going back to Earth after being in space for over 1000 days. Rory (Ryan Reynolds) and the rest of the crew get comfortable in their success as Kalvin (the previously single-celled organism) continues to grow. But an accident at the lab puts them, the ship and the whole planet at risk when Kalvin grows beyond the bounds of its pen.

So layer up on Firewalls, breath deep as the oxygen gets thinner and say 'Goodnight moon' as we marvel at the wonders of Life (2017)

  • "They're under the ground Burt...they're under the God-damn ground!!"

We did it! At long last we get to one of my all time favourite Creature-Features and I get to share it with Dylan as we watch - Tremors (1990)

Valentine (Kevin Bacon) and Earl are the 'do-it-all' handymen of the middle-of-nowhere town, Perfection. Times have been tough and it all comes to a head when they realise they've hit rock bottom. In a spur of the minute decision they pack up and get ready to make it big in the city. Only problem is they've made the decision just one day too late as something is coming for the town. An accident blocks the only road out and before long it becomes evidently clear that they've got a real puzzler of a problem coming their way.

So be as quiet as you can, go check on the generator and thank the lord they don't fly as we shake, rattle and roll to a series of unstable Tremors (1990)

  • "GET BACK YOU EIGHT-LEGGED FREAKS!!!"

Bronwyn is back this week to help me re-live a movie I've not watched in over a decade - Eight Legged Freaks (2002)

Chris (David Arquette) is returning to his hometown, his Father having tragically passed away and leaving him the owner of the town's mine. Sam the town's Sheriff, and as a single mother, is working hard at keeping her neighbours and her kids in order - her son of which has made friends with the town outcast. Joshua runs a spider-farm on the outskirts of Prosperity and has made fast friends with the eager Mike (Sam's son) and shares with him the drastic growth of his spiders thanks to some unusually sized crickets from the local lake. Little do they know that toxic waste has spilled into said lake and the spiders are only going to continue to grow until the town itself become the deadly arachnids' hunting grounds.
