🤣Bonus!! Julie breaks character in a giggle fit, and they actually leave the clip in!
🤢One more plotline involves a couple that hooks up and creates perhaps the sickest of all stories in Love Boat History.

Is Gopher in a cult? Is he a Scientologist??! Better get Lisa Remini on the case!
SEASON ONE FINALE!!!
At the show's end, Rob, Charlotte, and Caleb take a moment or two to reflect on what we've learned from Love Boat Season One. It's deep, it's enlightening - and perhaps it's a reflection of ourselves. 😉
Also, a cheating pimp, how is that even possible? Maybe not BUT It is Antonio Vargas, who played one on Starsky & Hutch.
In another kind-of-refreshing appearance, Pat Morita, Mr Miyagi, is back as a corporate magnate who seems to run the world ... and apparently, he's authorized to give out blackbelts in SEX!! He also, unfortunately re-inforces some silly racial stereotypes.
There is much more, too, including:
🛳️ "The Education of Caleb": We cover his unique journey to manhood, with more stories of his eye-opening experiences in France.
🛳️ "Feeling Safe on a Cruise with Mister Miyagi: 'I would feel so safe. Like, my life is protected. Literally, you're okay. Wax on wax off. Like, all the things.'"
— Charlotte🛳️ "The Doc is a Horrible Person": "I've learned that The doc is a horrible person, and he will never be liked. Never ever. I don't care if there's a redemption arc in season 4. I will still hate his ass"
— Producer Caleb
🛳️ "Jim Jones cultist on the ship?": "So now we have Gopher with Jan Brady, who's obviously involved with the Jim Jones cult. He was gonna go to Guyana and hang out with Jim Jones. You know, we have a cultist on the ship because they apparently just allow anyone to come on."
— Charlotte

1️⃣ A high-stakes game: Our hosts explore using marked cards to cheat in a card game - by none other than senior citizen sleaze (Harry Morgan from M*A*S*H*) ... and the reveal of just how much money is at stake – a whopping $19,000 (according to Producer Caleb)! Gopher, Julie, and even Isaac are thoroughly screwed 💰💔

3️⃣ Racism exposed: We discuss the portrayal of a character of color as a bad swimmer, highlighting the importance of challenging these racist stereotypes in media.🤔🛳️
And yes, there's much more, including two nerds out to get laid using a devious pamphlet (LOL) that charts their course.

— Rob
Fox Guards the Hen House: "Oh, my God. Who puts the Doc in charge of any single girl on a boat that's never traveled by themselves together?!"

Dirty Deeds and questionable behaviors continue to go deep into the controversial waters of "The Love Boat."
Ugly vs. Hot: Join us as we empathize with the "designated ugly friend" who's facing the eternal struggle of feeling left out while her dazzling pal steals all the limelight.

A poolside beauty contest takes the spotlight with Marcia Brady and an assortment of lovely ladies.
So, the contentants get hit with one sexist slander after another - and it's Captain Stubing doing the lecherous play-by-play! Please note: a beaver is featured ... and that's just the beginning.
Then we wrap-up last week's jewelry heist and turns out the moron thieves don't know the difference between fake and real diamond. They really F-up.Mistress Adrienne Barbeau is back too and the cat-is-out-of-the-bag, so to speak.
The Sitcom Study
Thanks to THE Scatman Crothers, we also end up discussing Stephen King's The Shining and Dr. Sleep.

But wait, there's more!! Inappropriate behavior escalates backstage at the beauty contest.
Not to be forgotten is the kind-of-twisted blind couple relationship that gets really weird.

A floozy decoy named Taffy, a Captain Stubing doppelgänger and Gopher's "happy-ending" massage in the ship's lobby (!!)
It's all the collateral of clearly illegal hijinks that kick in hardcore as an Ocean's Eleven-style diamond heist takes center stage.
But wait there's more !! Adrian Barbeau, a buxom, sex-symbol actress from the 70s (Beau Arthur's daughter from "Maude,") plays "The Mistress." She struts onto the ship and promptly makes great friends with her guy's wife. Hilarity ensues.
"Ox was the guy who was like, "Act normal. I thought we were here to steal the diamond." Could he say that any louder? On the dock, about to board, like, "Hey, guys, just so we know, when we get on this boat, we're stealing this diamond."
— Producer Caleb
"Who doesn't check to make sure that their wife and mistress aren't going to be on the same cruise ship? Before you go, there should be an app to make sure that doesn't happen!."
— Host Charlotte
"Perhaps this is the most ambitious of intertwined storylines that we've seen in the past 15 episodes.'"
— Host Rob

Gopher is a monkey smuggler. There, I said it. This episode also dabbles in nose jobs, and Don Adams, the voice of Inspector Gadget and star of the classic TV series Get Smart.
As is the case with most sitcoms, TV shows, and even movies from the 1970s, chimpanzees will invariably show up and create some kind of hilarity or havoc, and sometimes both. This happens a lot in this episode.
There is also a storyline where two old vaudeville-type performers have a reunion that turns explosive and another plot where a woman boards the boat with a bandaged face and her mom tagging along. Doc makes his moves on the mom very quickly.
Next, Isacc has a hell of a problem with his mom "living in sin" with a dude as they vacation on The Pacific Princess. His mom is played by the famous old-time actress, singer, and comedian Pearl Baily.
We also trip upon the topic of British comedy and Caleb tells of an old show where a mentally challenged character always wants to ... oh never mind, it's actually kind of sick.
SHOW QUOTES:
"Mummy, bitty bitty, mummy bitty."
— Producer Caleb
"Was this girl's nose job scheduled before the cruise, or did her mom just take her? Is this like a spa retreat for the nose job? Is she supposed to be hidden? Is my question kind of the chicken or egg? I'm just confused. Then there's the monkey."
— Charlotte
"I've got to question the safety of keeping a chimpanzee under your bed."
— RobThis one covers Love Boat season 1, episode 14.

We are seeing the end of Bob Crane's acting career here, in that he was real-life murdered a few months after this dark and confusing episode.
Yes, that Bob Crane - from Hogan's Heroes - whose life was later dramatized in the movie Auto Focus with Greg Kinnear and Willem Defoe. Look it up. Yikes. Creepy.
His Jerry Springer-style plotline ultimately is another study of inappropriate affection between two passengers: a long-lost father and his adult daughter. It's strange writing, and we couldn't help but feel baffled. Also, Airplane's awesome Robert Hayes is underused in an unfortunately small role here.
Next, things take a wild turn as a younger lower-income couple finds themselves in a luxury Presidential suite, thanks to Julie and Gopher's scheming. Then, they must navigate a dangerous game of pretending to be marketing experts and avoid their arch-nemesis on the boat. Also confusing.
"Hey, poor people, here's an upgrade. Enjoy this upgrade.! But one condition. You have to pretend to be these marketing company people.'"
— Producer Caleb"It's not really that hard to pretend like you're in marketing. You literally just throw out a few key terms like "KPI," "point of view" and "demographics" and they're like, yes, we believe you. Literally, anybody can do it."
The Sitcom Study
— Charlotte
In another Love Boat scene, a woman is referred to as "a little lady," which causes us to briefly examine how many women were treated/portrayed "back in the day." Next, we show the ultimate example: we roll a 1968 Maxwell House TV commercial that shows women as completely and aggressively subservient. Boo.
BONUS SHOW QUOTE !! (unrelated to anything)
"I could have walked away with every dude in Montana at that point. I could add a ranch, cows, horses, cowboy hats, whatever the f--- I wanted. I was literally a star in Montana."
— Charlotte
International waters: a playground for mischief, discrimination, and even illicit activities? Yup, so dive into the dark underbelly of the Love Boat on Crime Cruise: Love Boat Exposed, where the line between pleasure and crime gets blurred in the vast sea.

Twisted relationship dynamics and drama set sail on this one, folks! A scandalous age gap friendship between a solo traveling old dude and a 15-year-old stowaway takes the spotlight here.
Yes, you read that correctly. What is going on here?! Our hosts demand answers and we ultimately do get them - but are the answers good enough? After last week's episode, it seems that all the rules of civility and decency have been thrown overboard. In another plot, we have two major cast members from Happy Days!!!
The Sitcom Study
We also witness Julie's attempt at finding love/sex - again. This time, it's with Potsie (Anson Williams from Happy Days). Her quests never seem to go very well.
Then the captain gets royally pissed at scam artists who are attempting to paint his cabin - and one of the fake painters is Pat Morita / Mr. Miyagi / Arnold from Happy Days!!
There's also talk of Jeremy Renner's interview, the one where he speaks of his eye popping out during his big accident. Yuck!! Thanks, Host Charlotte
Enjoy everyone, it's season one, episode 12 for those keeping track. Cheers!!

Edgy Adult Humor is front-loaded in this head-scratching, "Is this really happening?!" episode.
This installment actually is shocking and includes jaw-dropping revelations where Christmas themes definitely have gone wrong!
"Family Reunion: It sounds like a G**damn Griswold Christmas, literally. Uncle Eddie showing up would be the tip of the iceberg."
— Co-Host Charlotte
The centerpiece here is definitely about a priest and some situations that set-off all kinds of alarms! Don' even ask about "the soap and water fights."
"Oh, my God. I don't even know where to start. That a priest gets on a cruise ship with six young boys, all diverse, by the way, just in case anyone's wondering. All diverse, all equally exposed, everyone's represented. What is this? Dude, this is crazy. I don't even know!! Whew, literally."
— Co-Host Charlotte
The Sitcom Study
This week you'll also experience, in no particular order:
🚢 Brooding attorney embezzlement leads to a gun being pulled!
🚢 The priest states what clearly sounds like, "I destroy people."
🚢 The Captain and said priest share a hidden understanding on deck at night.
🚢 Hot TV moms from the 70's discussed
🚢 Isaac serves up hardcore cocktails
🚢 Did someone in our studio date Danny Bonaduce?
🚢 Christmas Hymn Miracles.
Set Sail. Be Warned.

Iconic 1970's TV and film characters all come together on one big boat! Ignored spouses, cheating fiends, and a doctor who may be incapable of delivering a baby - is he even a real doctor?
"Big" Al Delvecchio, Arnold's replacement from Happy Days! Zsa Zsa Gabor! Vegas and Spenser for Hire's Robert Urich and funny guy Leslie Nielsen all play a part in this raunchy, slap-happy cruise!
In one plot, we dive into the twisted story of two senior ladies who assault cruisers with literal and physical attacks and a chef who stages his own version of The Boston Tea Party, using ketchup instead.
BONUS: Hear of Producer Caleb's exploits in a small French village, which ended up causing curious looks and glances. It involves older ladies and even a host mom (!)We also delve into the intriguing story of why all of Tony Danza's TV characters are named "Tony."
Show Quotes from Co-Host Charlotte:
The Sitcom Study
On Loneliness and Pregnancy at Sea: "She's all alone on this cruise, and she's pregnant." Is it safe for a pregnant woman to go on a cruise? Let your wife go on a cruise at nine months pregnant ?! She's rocking on a boat. You're going to let her go by herself? Like, what?"
On Social Distancing in Politics: "To be honest, none of us should be in a room together, BUT we can literally sit here and do this show - people who don't agree politically and still be friends and hang out."
Charlotte also riffs on why some Love Boat passengers would have done well on OnlyFans - and, of course, there is a whole lot more. Enjoy!

Role Reversals. Female Empowerment. Are we still talking about The Love Boat? YES!
Romance Roulette is the name of this game, and this time the fun involves three women who have a burning desire to find not-exactly-romance, in fact, they seek something much more primal(!)
SNL alumni Jane Curtin takes lead in the frolic, and she may be tinkering with the wrong plumber. Hmm. Just listen, and you'll see what I mean.
From strategic sunblock applications to deciphering secret code words (spoiler: "Screwdriver" may not mean what you think)
"First of all, I like that their code word is screwdriver. Okay, girls, could we be a little bit less conspicuous?" — CharlotteThere's also a lackluster plotline that involves drugging a German Shepherd - the dog, not a European farmer guy. Radar from M*A*S*H is in this clip.
"I was hoping that there was going to be some borderline animal abuse, because that would have been perfect for the show." — Producer Caleb
This is a tight episode that reviews Love Boat SE1 EP9
(We skipped Episode 8 because it is a "Special Episode" covering a depressing topic.)

Two twin sisters. One Doc. Need we say more?
The Sitcom Study
Doc Bricker gets rejected by a passenger lady; he then makes her like him by being pushy and giving her "vitamins" - which works. She also has a twin sister, and they are pretending to be one person for whatever reason.
Whew.
So they both end up in bed with him, one after the other, within the same night. Within the same hour. Somehow they tricked him, but he ended up on the winning end. Hmmm.
Okay, next, Julie runs across a passenger with whom she had a long-time relationship. It turned out he was married, though. She never knew, and now he's still pretending to be unattached. It does get messy.
There's also The Curse of the Titanic Couple. Will they bring the ship down? And a priceless moment when bartender Isaac ends up as Muhammad Ali reincarnated.

Juan Epstein from Welcome Back Kotter is a V-card-carrying fella in the hot seat with his rowdy friends. It's up to him to fumble through a ship full of ladies until he finds the end of the rainbow - or something like that.
The Sitcom Study
On the other end of the spectrum is sweet-crazy grandma. She's cruising with her granddaughter with one goal: to get her hooked up with a higher class of dude - and granny wants her to use everything she's got. This includes her cleavage and other unmentionables.
BONUS! Host Charlotte shares her story of an Alaskan Death Cruise!!
And there's also The Doc. He, of course, gets thrown into the mix when Grandma Pimp decides it's a great idea to send her grandkid into the lion's den (the doc's office/bedroom), and he's all too ready to make his patented Dr. Bricker moves.
RUMOR OR FACT? Did Doc miss the last episode because he was being treated for Syphilis?
There are also storylines where Isaac scores a date with a hot, famous singer and Julie seems to be a homewrecker. Hmm...
** This double episode covers SE1 Episodes 5 and 6 of The Love Boat**
That's it, enjoy!!

Charo. The Legend. This one-name wonder swung through the 70s with her Flamenco guitar, chuchi-cuchi catchphrase, and jiggly approach to life. It's no surprise that The Love Boat welcomed her as a guest star 10 times,
To kick things off, we're given reason to contemplate the ethics of tasing holy men.
Milton Berle drops into this episode playing an obnoxious oaf, much like his real-life self. We dive into the madness of Milton Berle's infamous Saturday Night Live stint and explore the unforgivable act that left SNL producer Lorne Michaels fuming.
Stowaway Alert! Charo's character breaks maritime law during her first Love Boat appearance - but the real down and dirty is how the men of the Pacific Princess crew set their sites on her - in one way or another. Of course, the trusty doc is somehow tasked with keeping her sequestered in his own cabin. Boom! The original Incredible Hulk, Bill Bixby, plays in a scene or two where he gets The Doc to break what would later become HIPPA laws.
While on the topic of The Incredible Hulk, we discuss how Hulk's pants are full of mystery and magic and the timelessness of Lou Ferrigno.
It's gonna be a wild ride, folks, with laughter, intrigue, and more than a few moral conundrums. So grab your life jackets and prepare to set sail into another gripping episode of Crime Cruise: Love Boat Exposed!
