  • Military Officer Serial Killer Russell Williams - Police Interrogation and Confession SHOCKING

Bob McKeown deconstructs the interrogation and shocking confession of Russell Williams. From his initial denial to the full declaration of guilt, the fifth estate deciphers one of the most compelling and distressing confessions in Canadian criminal history with the help of people who know the art of interrogation better than anyone else.

    Investigation and arrest

Jessica Lloyd, 27, had vanished on January 28, 2010. Investigators identified distinctive tire tracks left in snow near her home. One week after her disappearance, the Ontario Provincial Police conducted an extensive canvassing of all motorists using the highway near her home from 7 pm on February 4, 2010, to 6 am on the following day, looking for the unusual tire treads. Williams was driving his Pathfinder that day — rather than the BMW he usually drove — and an officer noticed the resemblance of his tire treads. These were subsequently matched to the treads near Lloyd's home.

On February 7, 2010, the CFB Trenton base commander was at his newly built home in Ottawa, where his wife lived full-time and he lived part-time, when he was called by the OPP in Ottawa and asked to come in for questioning. During the 10-hour interview he confessed to the numerous crimes of which he was later convicted. Early the next morning Williams led investigators to the woman's body in a secluded area on Cary Road, about 13 minutes away from where he lived. Williams was also charged in the death of Corporal Marie-France Comeau, a 37-year-old military flight attendant based at CFB Trenton, who had been found dead inside her home in late November 2009.

Along with the murder charges, Williams was charged with breaking and entering, forcible confinement, and the sexual assault of two other women in connection with two separate home invasions near Tweed, Ontario in September 2009. According to reports, the women had been bound in their homes and the attacker had taken photos of them.

Williams was arraigned and remanded into custody on Monday, February 8, 2010. The Canadian Forces announced that day that an interim commander would soon be appointed to replace him (Dave Cochrane took over 11 days later), and removed his biography from the Department of National Defence website the following day.

Hours after the announcement of Williams' arrest, police services across the country reopened unsolved homicide cases involving young women in areas where Williams, a career military man, had previously been stationed. According to news reports, police began looking at other unsolved cases based on a full statement that Williams gave to police.

A week after his arrest, investigators reported that, along with hidden keepsakes and other evidence they had found in his home, they had matched a print from one of the homicide scenes to his boot.

In addition to the four primary incidents, the investigation into Williams includes probes into 48 cases of theft of women's underwear dating back to 2006. In the searches of his Ottawa home, police discovered stolen lingerie that was neatly stored, catalogued, and concealed.

In April 2010, Williams was placed on suicide watch after he tried to kill himself by wedging a stuffed cardboard toilet paper roll down his throat.

    Confession

On February 7, 2010, Williams was interrogated at Ottawa Police Service headquarters by Detective Sergeant Jim Smyth, a member of the Ontario Provincial Police's Behavioural Sciences Unit. The interview started at 3 p.m. and by 7:45 p.m. he was describing his crimes. The interrogation lasted approximately ten hours. Excerpts of the confession were shown in court at Williams' sentencing hearing on October 20, 2010.

In the confession, Williams gave details of his crimes, including the sexual assaults in Tweed and 82 break-ins and thefts. Some of them occurred in Ottawa homes within walking distance of his Orleans, Ontario home where he lived with his wife. Other break-ins and thefts occurred in Belleville, and in Tweed, where the couple had had a cottage since 2004.

He also told police where they could find evidence, including hidden keepsakes, inside the Ottawa home. The couple had moved to a new house two months before he was interrogated by police. He told Detective Sergeant Jim Smyth where police could find the thousands of images he took of Lloyd and Comeau and the two women he sexually assaulted. He then identified on a map where he dumped Lloyd’s body. A video of the interrogation was made available to the public and was posted online by several newspapers and on YouTube.

  • The Bever Family Massacre: 911 Call and Police Interrogation.

Teen Brothers Wanted To Become Famous Killers — And They Started By Butchering Their Family
Robert and Michael Bever thought they would kill their family quickly, like ninjas, before embarking on a cross-country murder spree.

For the teenaged Bever brothers, the goal was notoriety. They wanted to have articles written about them. They wanted to be feared. They wanted to kill 500 people, believing the act would make them like gods.

Unfortunately for the family of Robert, 18, and Michael, 16, the brothers kicked off their plan at home. On the night of July 22, 2015, they broke out knives they had been stashing, and set about trying to kill each of the seven other members of their household in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

They planned to cut their family down like ninjas, with swift and silent killing blows — all while awaiting a shipment of ammunition, according to authorities on “Killer Siblings” on Oxygen. A bloody, messy reality set in quickly, however, when the boys went after their first victim, 13-year-old Crystal.

As one of the Bever boys would later tell police, “It wasn’t like it was on the TV — you cut them once and they die.”

After Michael lured his sister into a bedroom under the pretense of showing her something on a computer, Robert grabbed her from behind and slashed her throat. Crystal fought back, and he plunged his knife into her abdomen and arms.

The boys’ mother, April, 44, heard the commotion and came upstairs. She was met by Robert, who unleashed a frenzy of at least 48 knife strikes that resulted in “more wounds than I’ve ever seen in any body, ever,” according to one investigator. All the while, somehow, Crystal crawled away to try to protect her younger siblings.

The brothers then moved on, room by room.

Father David Bever, 52, was stabbed 28 times, and suffered blunt force injuries all over his body, Tulsa World reported. Michael later told police that Robert stabbed their dad with “the biggest knife he had,” according to “Killer Siblings.”

Their 7-year-old brother, Christopher, was stabbed six times. When they overtook their younger sister Victoria, 18, they stabbed her 18 times in both sides of her neck, chest, back and upper arm.

Daniel, 12, managed to lock himself in a room, where he called 911. Michael managed to convinced his younger brother to open the door by feigning that he was also being attacked by Robert. The brothers came in and stabbed the boy nine times in the back, shoulder and chest.

Robert then returned his attention to Crystal, who was bleeding from her neck, arm and abdominal wounds, and tried to finish her off by suffocation. The older brother also planned to cut off his 2-year-old sister, Autumn’s, head, according to local outlet Oklahoma News on 6. At that moment, however, police began banging on the front door.

Detective Brett Burton of the Broken Arrow Police Department told producers that when he responded to the call, he could see blood on the sidewalk and the front step, and he heard a faint “help me” coming from inside. It was Crystal.

The 13-year-old clung to life, telling police that her brothers had attacked her family. Autumn remained sleeping upstairs, unharmed, throughout the whole ordeal.

The brothers escaped out the back of the home, but they were quickly tracked down by a police K-9 in a wooded area. In police photos featured on “Killer Siblings,” Robert and Michael Bever are covered in mud and blood; their clothes are torn and even appear to have bits of flesh on them.

“They weren’t upset. They weren’t distraught,” Burton said. “It’s almost like they had a sense of cockiness.”

“It looked to me like [one of the boys] had a smirk on his face,” Corporal Leon Calhoun told local ABC affiliate KTUL.

  • Nurse's Aide Charged W/ Sex Crimes Involving Memory Care Patients | FULL Police Interrogation

A former nurse's aide who pleaded guilty to sex crimes involving memory care patients was sentenced to three years in prison on Tuesday.

Godbless Uwadiegwu, 59, of Middletown, pleaded guilty to two counts of gross sexual imposition. He sexually assaulted two women at two different facilities in Warren County.

Judge Don Oda sentenced Uwadiegwu to the maximum prison sentence, 18 months on each conviction for a total of three years.

Victims and their families didn't attend the sentencing hearing due to airline and COVID-19 issues, but a livestream was available for them to watch it remotely.

In addition, victim advocate Erika Bourelle read letters on behalf of the victims and their families.

One letter was written by one of the victims herself.

"Some people may not remember, but I do. This happened on his first day in my building. I needed assistance after using the restroom and he came in to help me wipe," she wrote.

The victim described how Uwadiegwu sexually assaulted her.

"I said, 'Hey, what are you doing?' And he was very shocked and said, 'Oh, I'm sorry. That was an accident,'" the victim wrote. "He takes advantage of people who can't defend themselves, and I think he needs to go to prison for as long as possible."

Bourelle read another letter written by the second victim's son. His mother suffers from Alzheimer's and dementia

"It is obvious what a sad, pathetic person you are. What kind of monster preys on defenseless women?" he wrote. "Thanks to this terrible disease, there is less and less of my mother, but she has moments of clarity, times when mom is back. Her eyes are clear and she is exactly how I remember her. We live for those moments. Unfortunately, when it comes to the sexual assault, my mother remembers."

He said Uwadiegwu used to bring his mother gifts and candy to gain her trust. Instead, he betrayed it.

"My mother doesn't remember much these days, but she remembers you and what you do did. So, she is left with shame and fear. That is the impact on my mother," he wrote.

On Tuesday, Uwadiegwu spoke for the first time publicly. He didn't admit to any wrongdoing. He said he was just doing his job.

"I have been a missionary. I lived in a church, and I have been working to help people in this field," Uwadiegwu said. "As a caregiver, I put empathy in my work in helping people."

Uwadiegwu said the job of a caregiver is a very serious job and sometimes he had to clean patients.

"I really apologize if there was any way to think I have done anything I shouldn't do," Uwadiegwu said. "It never came across my mind at any time. Please believe me."

Uwadiegwu faces similar charges in Butler County.

  • Israel Keyes is the most terrifying serial killer you’ve probably never heard of - Serial Killer Documentary

Israel Keyes is all of your worst fears personified into one of the most terrifying serial killers of the 21st century.

February 1, 2012, began like any other day at work for 18-year-old Samantha Koenig, but it ended in unspeakable tragedy.

Finishing up her shift at the Common Grounds coffee stand in downtown Anchorage, Alaska, the young barista was approached by a man wearing a ski mask who ordered coffee – a man who would later be named as Israel Keyes.

After Samantha handed him the order, Keyes pulled out a gun and demanded money, and the terrified teen quickly complied.

Forcing himself inside the stand, Keyes tied the young woman’s hands together with zip ties before forcing her into his white Ford Focus, where she tried – and failed – to escape the abductor, who held a gun to her head and said he would kill her if she tried again.

Driving around town with Samantha still bound in the vehicle, Keyes explained to the terrified teen that this was simply a kidnapping for ransom and that if she cooperated, she’d be returned to her family unharmed.

Keyes kept Samantha alive for several hours and even drove back to her coffee stand to retrieve her mobile phone. He then used it to send a fake text message to her boyfriend, who was due to pick her up after her shift.

The text read: “Hey, I’m spending a couple of days with friends, let me dad know.”

Keyes took Samantha to his property, where he tied her up in a shed. He turned his radio up so no one could hear her screams and pleas for help.

After demanding Samantha’s address, Keyes made his way to retrieve her ATM card from her boyfriend’s truck.

In a gut-wrenching twist, while stealing the debit card, Keyes was confronted by Samantha’s boyfriend – who was already on edge after discovering Koenig was not at work when he arrived to pick her up as well as having received the strange text message from her phone earlier, which had, in fact, been sent by Keyes.

Thinking he was a random burglar attempting to break into his car, Samantha’s boyfriend ran inside to get help, while Keyes fled.

Returning to his property, Keyes poured himself a glass of wine as he returned to his shed and raped a sobbing Samantha.

He then strangled her to death.

Keyes returned inside, packed for a pre-planned cruise in New Orleans, woke his daughter for school, and left for the airport.

Returning to Anchorage on February 17, 2012, Keyes began preparing a ransom note, but first, he decided to remove Samantha’s body from the cupboard.

He applied makeup to Samantha’s face – frozen and lifeless – before unsettlingly sewing her eyes open with fishing line to give her the appearance of being alive. He then took a Polaroid of her “holding” up that day’s newspaper.

  • The Sleep Walker Murderer | Randy Herman Jr Interrogation

Randy Herman was convicted of first-degree murder for the brutal stabbing death of his childhood friend, Brooke Preston, who he claimed he killed while sleepwalking.

It was a case with an unusual defense and one that ultimately the jury didn’t buy.

The defense team for Randy Herman Jr. tried to argue during his murder trial that he was sleepwalking when he brutally stabbed his roommate and childhood friend 21-year-old Brooke Preston to death inside their Florida home in 2017.

He had a long history of sleepwalking which dated back to childhood. Herman, who had a habit of self-medicating with alcohol and had previously been convicted of two DUIs, had been on a drinking binge in the days before the stabbing, the Miami New Times reported in 2019. He estimated that he drank around 30 beers during one of the last days he spent with Preston, who was gearing up to leave and move in with her boyfriend. That and his frequent lack of decent sleep were brought up as contributing factors that the defense said caused him to sleepwalk.

During his trial, Herman pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, with sleepwalking being the psychological affliction. His defense called Dr. Charles Patrick Ewing, a forensic psychologist, to the stand who testified that it usually takes some time to fall into a deep sleep, the kind of sleep that sleepwalking is believed to occur during. However, he also testified that it’s possible for someone to fall into a deep sleep immediately, especially when drinking and sleep deprivation are involved.

Herman had claimed that he had spoken to Preston just minutes before killing her. He testified that he remembers waking up in his bed to Preston coming into his room to talk about a shirt he was giving her. Just minutes later, he remembered stabbing Preston to death but believed he was dreaming, according to him. The new Hulu documentary “Dead Asleep” notes the theory that the memory of him being awake just minutes before the slaying could have been a dream or an imagined memory.

Still, it was that specific memory that jurors pointed to as the reason for why they ultimately convicted Herman in 2019.

“The way that the jurors explained it to me was when they put the timeline together they felt that he couldn’t have returned back to a deep sleep,” “Dead Asleep” director Skye Borgman said in an interview earlier this month. “Circumstances including prior behavior, alcohol use, his sleep patterns, I think he [Ewing] said it’s possible that he could have [been sleepwalking and in a deep sleep] but also possible that he could not have returned back to sleep.”

She said that ultimately jurors determined that the timeline the way that they saw it, if he didn’t imagine that interaction with Brooke, then he would not have been able to have returned to a deep sleep state.

The timeline was such a big motivating factor for them in seeing how this sequence of events played out,” she said. “They felt more convinced that he wasn’t sleepwalking at the time.”

Heman, now 28, was sentenced to life behind bars. Last month, Herman filed a motion to try to get his conviction vacated. He wants a new trial and argues that his defense was wrong to claim that sleepwalking was a mental illness, the Palm Beach Post reported.

  • Son 'boiled mom's head in pot' after 'killing parents who cut off his allowance'

WARNING GRAPHIC DETAILS Joel Guy Jr is accused of murdering dad Joel Snr and mum Lisa and trying to dissolve their bodies in the "house of horrors" in Tennessee after they told him they'd stop supporting him financially

A son brutally murdered his parents before dismembering them and boiling his mum's head on a stove, a court heard.

Shocked investigators were confronted with a "diabolical stew of human remains" at the home of Joel Guy Snr and his wife Lisa.

Joel Guy Jr allegedly use acid to try and dissolve his mum and dad's remains after stabbing them to death in the House of Horrors.

Stunned investigators discovered Lisa's head boiling in a pot, and Joel Snr's severed hands on his bedroom floor.

Both their torsos were found wrapped in plastic in their bathroom in Knox County in Tennessee.

Prosecutors claim Guy murdered his parents the day after they refused to stop paying his bills at a Thanksgiving dinner in November 2016.

He tried to use chemicals to destroy Joel Snr, 61, and 55-year-old Lisa's remains, it is alleged.

The court heard the killer was told by his mum and dad that they were going to stop supporting him financially.
