It's the return of the Russos! On this week's The Legendary Ladies Podcast, Kat and Amy took a trip down family-friendly memory lane and watched the first episode of the Wizards of Waverly Place reboot, available on Disney+. Even though Amy hadn't seen the original series, the hosts found Wizards Beyond Waverly Place to be charming and entertaining, even if it may not have as much Selena Gomez as we end up wanting. They chat about the acting of the young stars, how the "Quiet on Set" documentary affected their viewing, and whether or not this reboot holds up against other similar Disney remakes, like "Raven's Home".

It's our second spooky season selection - Sweetpea on Starz! (Sorry, just had to get our alliterations in.) Our newest spooky season pick is a PilotPod covering the new Starz series Sweetpea, staring Ella Purnell. Amy and Kat are...lukewarm about this series, which is surprising, since on its head, the premise is excellent. The hosts chat about the fact that the hook that brought us in during the first 10 minutes failed to maintain the hype, whether or not the lack of good supporting characters undermined the 'ghost' theme they were going for (we get it, there was a purpose..it just didn't sell), and why the ___ had to die. All in all, we think the actress did a fantastic job with what was written, we just think we need to give it another episode to see where things go. The problem is...was this episode enough to get us to episode 2? Listen and find out!
Trigger warning for this episode - animal death.

When is a movie so not great that it’s…not actually bad? Can we be entertained in a horror film that doesn’t actually involve…um, horror? Does an over 100-minute movie that reveals the main twist 10 minutes in still have the power to keep us in our seats? The answer with M. Night Shamalan’s “TRAP” is, somehow, yes. Come on this journey with us on this week’s Spooky Season pick, as we recognize that nothing surprised us, the genre was unclear, and the writing felt like AI wrote the script --- and yet, we still stuck around. It’s a bit of a wild episode as we try to figure out what’s going on. (Spoiler alert, since that’s on brand: it’s the Emily in Paris effect…sometimes, we don’t want to think. Just watch.)

Welcome to the Gotham mob! The Legendary Ladies tackle the pilot for HBO's new series The Penguin, which is spun off the Robert Pattinson/Matt Reeves movie The Batman. But don't worry, you don't really even need to have seen that movie to dive into this mob series that just happens to be set in Gotham. The ladies discuss the show's pacing (slow), the show's characters, the Colin Farrell prosthetics (why?), the Sopranos inspiration, and more. Will we be back for the next episode? What did you think?

Earpers gather ‘round! We’re here to review the Wynonna Earp movie - Wynonna Earp: Vengeance, and the fun part? We have all level of fans in our hosts! While Morgan has seen the entire series (some of it, more than once), and Kat has seen a bit of the series, Amy has only seen the pilot (although she has a level of Earp-Adjacent Osmosis from instagram and the best fans ever). It makes for an interesting discussion - is the Earp movie new viewer friendly? And if it is, is it enough to make a new fan (or even returning fans) come back for more? Find out on this week’s episode!

Down down down down down the witches road! Amy and Kat have the song stuck in their head as they discuss Agatha All Along….and they really don’t mind. On this week’s The Legendary Ladies Podcast, the hosts watch the first two episodes of Agatha All Along, and since Amy hasn’t seen Wandavision (SHAME), dive into whether or not the show is new user friendly. They also chat about the clear straight-to-series vibe of the show, how long is fair to wait for a show to “hook” you, and where they think the series goes from here. Will the hosts keep watching? Hashtag #FINALLY! Amy and Morgan are absolutely thrilled to finally have the chance to watch the first episode of the hit television show “Emily in Paris.” On the heels of the season 4 release of the popular Netflix show, the hosts take this PilotPod to dive into what makes Emily in Paris so…entertaining and watchable, despite its general predictability and basic plot. Is it the fashion? The set (it is PARIS after all)? The good-looking roommate? Or, as the hosts discuss, is there just something refreshing and delightful about a half-hour show that is light, easy to follow, and relaxing? All this and more on this week’s episode!

It's not "A" vampire - it's "THE" vampire. Specifically, an interview with. On this episode of The Legendary Ladies Podcast, the Legendary Ladies settle in to watch the pilot of An Interview With the Vampire, hitting Netflix this week. They find the show appealing to all three hosts - but for different reasons - and discuss the setting, time jump, and world building as it pertains to a new audience with no knowledge of the IP. Amy, Kat, and Morgan also find discussing whether or not they can find characters intriguing and worth watching....even if they don't actually *like* any of them.

Does the new animated Batman fly high or fall short? The Legendary Ladies discuss the new animated Batman series on Amazon Prime video: Batman: Caped Crusader. Despite involving some of the same creators as Batman the Animated Series, the Legendary Ladies struggled to connect with this new version of Batman. They discuss the slow pacing, the flat characterization and their surprise they didn’t like this well-reviewed series very much. Have a different perspective? You can email us your thoughts at [email protected] or leave us a comment.

The Legendary Ladies have returned from San Diego, and Comic-Con! Amy and Kat gather to talk about their adventures at SDCC, including their personal adventures, projects, and panels. Amy talks about running the Energize Lounge for Hero Within, Kat shares her experiences networking for Lifeline Comics, and the two talk about their adventures at Comic-Con after hours. They also talk about some of the biggest announcements from the convention, like the new Marvel lineup and the renewal of Hazbin Hotel for seasons 3-4, but also whether or not working in the industry as writers and actors makes Comic-Con a little more challenging - and whether the "hustle" takes away from the magic of just being a fan.

Horse girlies, history girlies, and booktok girlies - this one is for you. On this week's The Legendary Ladies Podcast duo episode, Amy and Morgan are over the moon to discuss the [entire] Amazon Prime Video Series "My Lady Jane", which it turns out, was actually written exclusively for the hosts. Not really, but you get the picture.
The hosts rave over the fun nature of alter-history (and what they got right vs what they artfully changed), chat about the steamy chemistry between the two leads, and make predictions about season 2. They also find themselves reminiscing about their old stomping grounds, The Legends of Tomorrow, and how My Lady Jane seems to follow the same thematic vein - it's a show that doesn't take itself so seriously, and manages to find the heart and soul in a way that stays with the viewers long after they've gotten over the fact that the main character can turn into a literal horse.

Yes Chef! In this Duo episode, Kat and Morgan tackle season 3 of FX’s The Bear, which recently dropped on Hulu. What did we think of the Carmy, Sydney, Richie and company trying to keep their new restaurant afloat? How did the slower pacing of the new season work for us? What do we think of Claire? We dive into all things fine dining as we discuss season 3 (and the previous seasons) and rank where this new season stacks up. Hands!

On this week's The Legendary Ladies Podcast, Amy and Kat are diving into THE BOYS (metaphorically). While season 4 is in full swing, the hosts decided to finally take the plunge and watch the pilot, which they both thoroughly enjoyed. In the course of their discussion, they chat about how the format and pacing of the pilot provided viewers with a shockingly in depth look at the characters for only one episode. They also chat about the open commentary that The Boys seems to be making regarding larger comic book brands like Marvel and DC, and how the idea of "show, don't tell" in this particular pilot seems to be a masterclass for television writers.

Netflix's Hit Man: Would It Be A Better As A TV Show Than Movie?
Put on your wig, the Legendary Ladies are discussing the new Netflix comedy “Hitman.” In this Duo episode, Morgan and Kat discuss the new Glen Powell movie based on a true story about a fake Hitman. We talk about the Glen Powell renaissance, the state of streaming movies, and debated what genre Hitman belongs to.

This week, the Legendary Ladies watch "Am I Okay?", starring Dakota Johnson, which has finally made its way onto HBO Max, despite having made the film circuits back in 2022. The first film in a while that has won over all three hosts, Amy, Kat, and Morgan chat about what makes this film so relatable. While at its surface level, it sells as 'just' a story about a queer coming out journey, the movie brings to light a number of the challenges and stories that Millenials face. It's a movie about the crisis of feeling "stuck" in your early thirties, about the trauma of a deep friendship breakup, and how success looks different for everyone. The film goes a step further and brings a clearly personal, and deeply affecting, story about discovering your sexuality later in life to create a movie that our hosts would watch again and again.

(Many.) Amy and Morgan geek out over Regency sexiness while Kat wonders what the fuss is all about. Join us as we dive into the first episode of Bridgerton's third season, with some hints of what's to come!

Amy and Kat are back for another duo episode, and this one is long overdue. In fact, we admit it’s actually sort of wild how long it’s taken for The Legendary Ladies Podcast to cover X-Men ‘97! But, they’ve finally watched the Pilot, and they’re so glad they did. The hosts discuss the pacing of the pilot, the nostalgia factor that may make this show for literally any audience, and the intricacies of Rogues powers. All this and more on this week’s Duo PilotPod!

On this week’s episode of The Legendary Ladies Podcast - it’s a Duo Dua Lipa episode! Which makes it sounds like we have Dua Lipa on the podcast…which we don’t. But Amy and Kat did review her newest album, Radical Optimism. And we were so excited to chat about a clean, crisp album that was an easy listen filled with earworms, a lighter version of romantic storytelling, and an album that succeeds in it’s task to share some radical optimism (especially in a popular music world filled with what seems to be an overwhelming amount of reactionary introspection). We have our top 5 - but listeners are encouraged to write in and help Amy figure out which of her top 3 go in what order!

It's procedural time! The Legendary Ladies check in with the recently cancelled NCIS: Hawaii to do a pilot pod. We talk about the recent cancellation of the show, discuss how they should #SaveNCISHawaii, and the recent drop in LGBTQ+ characters on television. We also talk about the introduction of the Kate/Lucy relationship, and how interested we are to see where that pairing goes over the course of the show. And it wouldn't be the Legendary Ladies if there weren't tangents, including the comforting lull of procedural television, the Man vs Bear debate sweeping the internet, and how you shouldn't marathon a show like Criminal Minds. Plus, we weigh in on if either of us will continue watching NCIS: Hawaii.

The Legendary Ladies are here with their much anticipated Taylor Swift album review! Amy, Kat, and Morgan record a nearly 2 hour episode sharing their thoughts on The Tortured Poets Department, discussing the album in general during the first half and breaking down their top 5 in the second. Not only do they share their favorite thoughts, but they dive deep into some of their favorite parts of the album, as well as some critiques, including whether or not the album was oversaturated in its own style. They also muse if the "sameness" that strikes its way through the album is a natural part of the poetry theme of the album, and debate if there are enough clues to suggest that this might be the end of an era.
