The trajectory to achieving a "full rollup" on Bitcoin is a gradual process, similar to that of Ethereum rollups gradually implementing fraud proofs/zk technology.
Build on Bitcoin (BoB) has taken the approach of building a product (on mainnet now) which resembles more of an hybrid optimistic rollup between Ethereum and Bitcoin L2. They have been quick to market and have built a strong community.
Despite the challenges, such as the complexity of building on Bitcoin compared to other ecosystems, BoB is set on making advanced features like zk and account abstraction available over time.
BoBโs approach tackles three major challenges: aligning with Bitcoinโs ecosystem, creating a real ecosystem of builders & apps, and ensuring liquidity for new projects. By leveraging both Bitcoinโs security and the Ethereum network, BoB is working to establish this balance.
But, this comes with tradeoffs which we thoroughly address in this presentation.
BoBโs journey is divided into several phases. Phase 1 which is already live is their optimistic Ethereum rollup. Phase 2 introduces Bitcoin PoW security through merge mining, while Phase 3 aims to transition to a Bitcoin rollup with fraud proofs (using BitVM) and potential ZK capabilities.
We also discuss their OptiMine protocol, which similar to PBS, separates block production from block finalization for allowing faster finality leveraging Bitcoin's miners. This innovative approach ensures consistent block fees and enhances miner incentives for the longer term.

If you've been following along for sometime, you've likely heard of Fluent as part of our Modular March campaign or in a previous episode.
We first met Dino last year, early on in the development of their zkWasm L2, powered by a web assembly virtual machine (for execution). This has long been a part of our modular thesis, so naturally we were extremely interested in their newly launched "Blended execution" idea.
In today's video, we set out to understand why blended execution networks are superior to single execution. We learned about the idea behind "taking the best parts" of modular VMs like EVM, WASM, and SVM and coexist with each other. This approach brings a new level of interoperability to the modular eco for devs, making it easier for them to leverage their own background and skills to participate in crypto.
Dino also shared insights into his journey in coming to the idea of blended execution, the challenges they've overcome, and what lies ahead.

We are huge proponents of the modular thesis as our entire brand is centered around this. We often challenge ideas which we have a shared thesis with as part of the channel, as well as welcome new ideas to the the mix.In today's video we got the chance to understand the idea behind the integrated thesis with Movement Labs and Omni have been pushing forward. While we did spend some times talking about the different terminology, to us that's not the important part.In fact, we want to focus on less confusion for all of those involved in the modular ecosystem. We still prefer modular.However, the important takeaways from this conversation stem from the ideas of solving the fragmentation issues at hand with modularity and "putting all the pieces of the puzzle" together in a cohesive way.In today's episode, we understood the challenge of describing hybrid blockchain designs with various modular parts, leading to the term "integrated."These were initially called "Frankenstein chains."Unlike traditional monolithic blockchains, integrated solutions combine modular elements into cohesive, efficient systems. This approach draws parallels to microservices in modern software, offering flexibility and optimization...but isn't this just the meaning of modular?Kinda...Integrated solutions, as posed by Rushi, Austin and others focus on reducing fragmentation, and bringing different modular parts together, thus enhancing user experience through abstraction and seamless interaction.We found room to counter, learn, and understand the vision of where the modular movement is headed. This idea, while new to many, has been at the root of Celestia's roadmap since inception. In today's conversation we sat down with Mads Mathiesen, a long-time crypto researcher and now leading research for an elite crypto VC Maven11. He was writing about data availability and Celestia in 2019-2020, before anyone was really paying attention to modularity.
We talk about Maven 11's big bets on modularity and why VCs are under fire in the current regime. We also talk about the evolution of crypto funding models in from the 2017 ICO craze to the structured funding models of today, the landscape has evolved dramatically. We also explore potential shifts in VC strategies to better align with the unique timelines and risks inherent in crypto projects.
After that, the conversation went into the big bets that Maven 11 has placed on modularity and the key players which they invested in early. In today's episode, we set out to understand the origin story of not only Celestia, but also the now iconic Celestine Sloth Society NFT collection. The success and significance of the Celestine Sloths Society has came at a perfect time for the modular community.
We were joined by Zaki Manian, and Steven (sk) from the Celestine Sloths team and Nick White from Celestia to discuss the impact and origin story of the Sloths.
The Celestine Sloths Society was introduced with a fair launch exclusively for Celestia stakers, requiring one TIA token to mint each NFT, with a limit of one per wallet. They quickly soared in value and even surpassed Bad Kids in floor price, the biggest collection in Cosmos.We discussed this rise of popularlity as well as the choice of the sloth as a thematic symbol for the modular community which creatively reflects the concept of the 'lazy ledger'โa playful nod to Celestia. We went on to unveil potential future developments, like modular sloth bodies and the expansion of the sloth IP.
Many of the community members are excited for the potential modular project token distributions to Sloths (like Lava, Mitosis, Initia, Movement and others), we also touched on whether there could be a Sloth token in the future.

The general idea and thesis we share is that we will see 1000s of appchains and the frameworks which are building for that future are in a good spot. In addition, we also believe there will be a ton of zkVMs (as introduced to us by Cem during this video) which will power rollups going forward.This is also part of our "we don't need any more traditional EVM, general purpose L2s" thesis.In today's video, were taking a closer look at Sovereign Labs. Sovereign is a project we've heard quite a bit about in the modular stack, which is builiding an SDK to launch zkRollups. Rollups as we know them today are more centralized than we'd like.
Basically, rollups operate using a secure multi-sig and centralized sequencer for transaction batching and ordering.
This isn't good for a multitude of reasons, notably censorship resistance. We are trying to build resilient, long-lasting systems in crypto and to do this effectively these systems need to be sufficiently decentralized...or else we are at risk of nation-state intervention.
Today, we focus on the critical topic of fraud proofs within rollups. Verifiability is integral to enhancing the scalability and security of Ethereum-based solutions without sacrificing the decentralized foundation which Vitalik has created for us.
Security varies significantly across different rollups currently. Some are based on a permissioned set of validators, while others are advancing with permissionless algorithms that resist both delay and civil attacks.
We are here to analyze these variations, particularly looking at how recent innovations, like the Kineti algorithm, utilize computation hashes and structured tournament brackets to meet these challenges head-on. The goal of our discussion is to provide a comprehensive understanding of how fraud proofs work, why they matter, and what role they play in building a more censorship resistant Ethereum.

Today marks a very special day for many DeFi founders, builders, and power users.
Today is the launch of the transferable $SAFE token, for the safe multisig users on Ethereum mainnet. The tokens had to be claimed many months, if not years, ago. Safe has been pioneering the idea of smart accounts and has made many advancements in account abstraction technology. Osmosis has introduced the concept of alloyed assets, which aggregrate various tokens into a unified asset pool to manage liquidity more effectively. This approach not only mitigates risks associated with individual bridge failures but also streamlines asset management across chains, thus simplifying the user experience significantly.
But, is it really the best solution? We asked Sunny about the risks associated, some edge cases, and really dug into some areas where we feel they may have fell short...
