Comparison. It's something we've all struggled with at one time or another.
Today I want to share some thoughts with you to help you stop struggling with comparison. Because, you see... comparison isn't what makes us feel all "icky" inside. It's what we make the comparison MEAN about OURSELVES that doesn't feel good and impacts how we show up in the world.
Listen to this week's episode to learn how to break free from negative comparison in your life and be able to show up more confidently every day.

One of the side effects of dieting is a slower metabolism. When we diet, our bodies don't know the difference between dieting and starvation. And they go into "protect" mode to keep us alive. So, a few things happen in our bodies... one of them being lowering our metabolism.
This may show up as you hitting a weight loss plateau. Or gaining the weight that you just lost after dieting right back.
So today I want to answer the question... can we heal our metabolism after dieting?
And the answer is YES!
We'll talk all about how in this episode.

Ozempic. Wegovy. What are these medications everyone's talking about for weight loss right now? Are they the "miracle drug" they're being made out to be?
Chances are you know someone who is on it, have thought about it for yourself, or are on one of these medications. So, how do these medications impact your health, relationship with food, and even your weight? What are the concerns?
I wanted to have this conversation with my friend Brittany Jones, a Registered Dietitian here in Greenville South Carolina, all about what we see as the concerns with these medications used for weight loss right now. And, there's a lot of information out there about these drugs and you may have questions. My hope is we can clearly answer some of these questions for you.

Today's episode is a little different. I wanted to share a podcast interview and conversation I had with my friend, Darlynn Childress, on her podcast "Become a Calm Mama" all about how to help our kids grow up with a healthy relationship with food & their bodies.
Darlynn is a parenting coach and a dear friend of mine. This is the second time she's had me on her podcast (you can find our first episode all about how to heal our own relationship with food & our bodies as moms HERE).

"Food had always been this thing on my mind. I’d tried all the diets. And I knew that the thing that was going to solve my problems was not the next diet."
On today's episode I invited my client Kirsten on to share her story. You'll hear from Kirsten and where she was before we started working together... she talks about growing up in a family where dieting and hating your body was the norm. She shares about how she reached a point where she realized she did not want to be in her 70's and still struggling with food. And she shares encouragement for anyone else feeling the same.
You do NOT have to live your whole life feeling like food is such a "thing".
If you listen to this episode and it was encouraging and helpful, I'd LOVE it if you'd take a screenshot and share to your social media or with a friend directly. And, if you haven't yet, take a moment to leave the show a rating & review.

Sometimes I see this message that food freedom means eating whatever, whenever, however much you want without thinking about how your body feels.
Maybe you've had this thought too. And maybe it's kept you from wanting food freedom.
I get it... I don't want to eat donuts every day all day, either. I want to eat and feel healthy & have a balance.
But here's the thing, food freedom ISN'T just eating whatever, whenever, and however much you want. It's NOT about eating donuts every day.
It's about feeling empowered in your food choices. It's about feeling free to enjoy the donut without feeling guilty. But it's also about the freedom to maybe sometimes NOT eat the donut.
In this week's episode I want to talk a little bit about what food freedom really means and what it looks like.

Today I want to encourage you if you're feeling like you've "let yourself go" this past year. I have heard this from a lot of you... you feel like you've let yourself go and you're feeling ashamed for the weight you've gained and how you're maybe not where you thought you would be by now, at this time last year.
But, what I do know is that there's often a real reason why you've "let yourself go"... and while you may be telling yourself "I'm just lazy", that's never really the case. And more often, it's that you've just had other priorities. Often, in my experience, related to your mental health and needing to prioritize that above your physical health for a time.
Today, I'm sharing my own experiences with starting therapy again this past year and intentionally having times where I put my mental health above my physical health for part of the year. And, I share how I was able to still care for both my body & my mental health during this time and what that can look like for you.

You know that exercising consistently will help you feel better and live better. You know that eating less takeout would be better for your health. You know all these things that you "should" be doing, but for some reason you're not doing it. Maybe you've told yourself "I'm just lazy", or "I'm just not disciplined". What I want you to know is that's never the reason and there's always something else going on that's keeping you stuck.
This is what we're exploring together in this week's podcast episode. You'll come away learning exactly why you feel stuck right now with not taking action on the things you know will change your health and how you feel and how to then start taking action.

Accountability is often the first thing we ask some else for when we have a new goal. We ask our spouses "can you hold me accountable to not eat dessert after dinner" and we ask our friends to exercise with us to "hold us accountable".
And, as you'll hear in this episode, accountability is a vital part of reaching your goals. But, it can't be the only thing you rely on. When asking someone else to hold you accountable is your only plan, what happens when your friend moves away or you finish the program?
In this episode, I want to share with you how to think about accountability and how to develop what I call "self-accountability".

“It's such a relief. To feel comfortable around food and I can enjoy it so much more versus living in fear and worrying about gaining weight or feeling the need to control my calorie intake, I trust my body and listen to what it tells me. And I find that in doing this, I don't overeat as much or feel uncomfortable after meals.”
In this episode, Victoria covers a number of things including a recent testimonial from one of her clients, Emma and Healthy You 2024. As a preview of her annual event, she explains the process of achieving health goals, starting with evaluating the past year, setting clear 'feel' goals, predicting and planning for obstacles, and devising an enjoyable, individualized plan.

“Your macronutrient needs are different every single day. And so just following a … blanket plan … is not going to work because your needs are different every day.
In this episode, Victoria discusses struggles with macro and calorie counting. She delves into her views on macro counting, highlighting that while it can be a tool for understanding the body's needs, it often becomes an obsession that can lead to guilt, shame, and an unbalanced relationship with food. She reiterates that every person's calorie and nutrient needs are different daily and that the body’s signals should guide eating habits, not a rigid diet plan.

In this episode, Victoria talks about stress and provides tips on how to handle stress, especially during the holiday season. She emphasizes the importance of self-care, gratefulness, movement, rituals, saying no, and looking up to reduce stress levels.
