Welcome to the Olyroos Podcast, where we take football fans inside camp in Japan to help you get to know our players that little bit better.
On this episode, we tell the story of Cameron Devlin.
The midfielder delves into his journey through football so far, from coming up an age group below Tom Glover at the Sutherland Sharks and being selected to trial overseas, to enjoying time within the Western Sydney and Sydney FC academy set-ups, before breaking through in the A-League and winning a title with the Sky Blues before establishing himself as a first-team player across the ditch.
His form with Wellington Phoenix was enough to earn a spot in Australia's squad for Tokyo, originally in a train-on capacity - Cam tells us how he found out the news that he was instead set to become a full-fledged olympian.

On this episode, we chat with Lachie Wales.
As a sport-crazy kid on the Central Coast, as a youngster Lachie tells us how he grew up idolising athletes of many sports.
The speedy winger tells how he developed his pace sprinting on the sand, and the special moments coming through at the Central Coast Mariners before trading the beach for the big smoke and plying his trade at Melbourne City and Western United.
As a player who was promoted from train-on to full squad member status in the recent weeks, and tells us all about what it means to represent his country at the Olympics.
We hope you enjoy our chat with Lachie.

Welcome to the Olyroos podcast, where we take football fans inside camp in Japan to help you get to know our players that little bit better.
During this episode, we catch up with Nathaniel Atkinson- a man that’s experienced a roller-coast few years to reach this point.
Just a couple of months ago, Nat thought his Olympic dreams were crushed after suffering another hamstring injury. But he worked his way back, got himself fit in time for A-League finals and as they say: the rest is history.
Off the back of that memorable Grand Final triumph we also cover growing up in Tasmania – the few sporting role models from his state – and the challenges of moving away from home at 14 and graduating to the first team at Melbourne City.

Welcome to the Olyroos Podcast, where we take football fans inside camp in Japan to help you get to know our players that little bit better.
This episode features Dylan Pierias.
As a kid of Italian heritage growing up in West Melbourne, Dylan runs us through how he actually shifted his allegiance from AFL to soccer at the age of six after a certain world cup game that will live long in the memory of Aussie fans… you know the one…
While the outcome of that game isn't one we all remember favourably, it set Dylan off as a football fanatic, and a decade later he would become the first player born in 2000 to debut in the A-League.
At youth level, he enjoyed a top time with Melbourne City and won a Youth League alongside the likes of, Arzani, Genreau, Metcalfe and a few more members of the Olyroos squad.
He's had to ride all of the highs and lows of professional football, but over the last year he’s gone from strength to strength at Western United, striking up a formidable friendship with Italian magician Alessandro Diamanti.
His form with his hometown club this season was enough to earn a first call-up to the Australia U-23s set-up - just in time for Tokyo.

Welcome to the Olyroos podcast, where we take football fans inside camp in Japan to help you get to know our players that little bit better.
In this episode we tune into Tokyo 2020 preparations to catch up with England-based goalkeeper Ashley Maynard Brewer.
We run through the 22-year-old's journey through life so far, which can be tracked by Olympic years.
He moved from England to Perth at a young age in 2000, spent time in London with family in 2012, and by 2016 was back abroad signing a youth contract with Charlton Athletic – where he has remained ever since.
In this insightful chat, Ash takes us through the challenges of moving overseas to pursue a life in football coupled with the mentality shift that’s helped him deal with the pressure of being an up-and-coming goalkeeper.
There’s that and some golden stories about his various Australian call-ups - we hope you enjoy!

Welcome to The Olyroos Podcast, where we take football fans inside camp in Japan to help you get to know our Olympic squad that little bit better.
During this series we'll be catching up with members of the squad as they prepare to take on the world in the Tokyo 2020 Men’s Football Tournament - and we'll ask them all exactly what it means to pull on the Green and Gold.
And what better way to start than with Caleb Watts, who plies his trade at Premier League club Southampton.
The 19-year-old midfielder talks us through a whirlwind few months, headlined by a league debut against his boyhood club Arsenal in January.
He also casts his mind back to representing the Joeys at the 2019 U-17s FIFA World Cup and how that all came about.
We discuss the behind the scenes of rising through the ranks at Southampton, from day to day life to the teammate he looks up to most.
A place in the U23’s select in Spain last month was followed by a call up to Tokyo, capping off a monumental six months for the youngster who speaks as powerfully as anyone about what it means to represent Australia.
