On August 10th, the host of the Fit and Healthy?/Healthy and Fit? podcast, Jason Digman, went for a bike ride. This was not a typical bike ride though. Jason started this ride in Gary, South Dakota at midnight with the intention of getting to Hager City, Wisconsin before the end of the day as a participant in the Day Across Minnesota (DAMn). Spoiler alert, Jason made it. He even had a good time. This episode is a bit different from our typical interview format as Jason and his support crew, Matt Barrett and Bernie Digman chat about the particulars of Jason's day. We also discuss how amazing the community and vibe of this event are along with how such long distance events relate to health and fitness.

We are joined this week in a conversation that literally changed how I thought about my health. Last June, our guest Scott Penticoff went out for a run. It was not unlike many other days in Scott's life. Except this day was very different for Scott. During that fateful run, Scott experienced a heart attack and went into cardiac arrest. We talk about this day and how it changed Scott's life and conceptions of health and fitness.

Excited to share our 10th episode, a wide-ranging conversation with Rasa Troup of Rasa Nutrition. Rasa has lived an amazing life. She grew up in Lithuania while it was still part of the Soviet Union, emigrated to the United States to attend school and run track. She's been to the Olympics (2008 in Beijing), has kids and runs her own nutrition company. We are back after a week off for the American holiday. This episode is a thoughtful discussion with a long time friend and cyclist John Shishilla. As John returned to cycling and better health after some tough years, and facing a new stage of his life, he refects and offers some great wisdom in an thoroughly enjoyable conversation. We recorded this episode in the late winter and it is a great contrast to the long and active summer days.

I had a lovely conversation with Cait Dumas-Hein of Grounded (Nebraska). We touched on a number of important topics including how our athletic identity does not always match with our health, including a shared injury history at the hands of cyclcocross (somewhat kidding). Most important of all, Cait's emphasis on peoples' perspective on safety at Gronded and in her work with bicycling advocacy was really useful to me, hoping to you listeners as well.

I am joined by Ted Roseen, aka Yoga Ted, a yoga instructor and runner and running coach from Minneapolis, Minnesota. We talk about Ted's development as an athlete, his passion for yoga and how yoga and running are keys part of his life. Both yoga and running, however, have not been static and how these changed over his life is a great lesson for all of us in balancing priorities and working to limit perfectionism.
