  • Terrible reviews are hitting YouTube this week for the Rabbit R1 and Humane AI Pin. Why? What's going on? In this episode, Jeff and Julia explore the difference of real physical AI solutions versus shiny, flashy AI hype.
We also chat about some of Jeff's favorite physical AI products standing out in the sea of flashy products that haven't lived up to the hype; including Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses (with Llama 3), the Limitless Pendant, a wearable necklace that records audio conversations, and the Open Interpreter 01, a voice interface for your home computer.
We also ask a big question: do humanoids have to look and act human in nature? What if we are thinking about this wrong, if we see the future of physical AI represented as a walking, talking human? What if robotics could supersede human shape and take on other forms?
We also cover some highlights from Sean Carroll's appearance on Lex Fridman's podcast.

  • This April, Washington released a proposal from the Center for AI Policy (CAIP) that they're calling "Responsible Advanced Artificial Intelligence Act of 2024," or the RAAIA. This legislation establishes a framework for regulating advanced AI systems, championing public safety, and fostering technological innovation with a sense of ethical responsibility. But is it all it's cracked up to be? Is the US government really our best bet to create a Responsible AI Act? Jeff and Julia discuss. Jeff runs the RAAIA document through Claude and finds Claude capable of well-reasoned feedback. Julia contrasts the RAAIA legislation to EU's AI Act, about 10x the size and length.
For the second half of the show, prepare for a deep-dive into the future of work and humanity as AI accelerates full-speed ahead into AGI and ASI. We brought content creator, podcaster, and learner Hans Nelson on to speak to this topic. This is an all-cylinders-firing conversation that will take your brain down a very deep AI rabbit hole. • The Arizona desert just became the hottest place to supply chips that power the future. Today, we're covering breaking news that brings an incredible billion-dollar advancement in chip development to none other than Arizona – per Reuters, "The U.S. Commerce Department said on Monday, April 8, it would award Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co's (TSMC) U.S. unit a $6.6 billion subsidy for advanced semiconductor production in Phoenix, Arizona and up to $5 billion in low-cost government loans."

The Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co investment in semiconductors in Phoenix AZ is expected to add 6,000 direct manufacturing jobs and 20,000 construction jobs to the area. They're building 3 fabs in AZ to hit full capacity.

We also cover a HOT topic in Julia's latest viral YouTube video: how do we as a society prepare for AGI? And a controversial opinion on bitcoin (spoiler alert: we're the opposite of "bitcoin bros!")

For our second half, we're bringing in a special guest to add to the conversation: Kam Snow, digital creator and copywriter, discussing the topic of AGI and the question of machine consciousness!

  • In this action-packed episode, co-hosts Jeff Joyce and Julia McCoy cover some huge breakthroughs and giant questions as we hurtle towards a post-labor economy with AI fueling 100% of the work we do, impacting every industry.
First up, we talk about how the first patient to get a cybernetic AI brain chip implant from Elon Musk's Neuralink, Noland Arbaugh, was able to move a cursor to play online chess using just his brain in a livestream on X shared Wednesday. It's an incredible breakthrough in AI innovation.
We cover how legislation and corporations will adapt to AGI – and we admit our lack of faith in governments across the world, and discuss a mutual concern over adaptability. But does that leave more potential for entrepreneurs and innovators to make giant leaps not just in innovation, but in policies for innovation? Is it up to the visionary to do it all? Perhaps. We're about to enter uncharted territory with AGI.
We also cover how Elon Musk recently came out saying the humanoid market is bigger than the electric car market, and what that looks like.
Finally, we end with a big existential question: “are machines sentient? Do machines have a soul?" Jeff and Julia debate this at length in a lively conversation.

  • In today's episode, we're covering a bunch of breaking news starting with Elon Musk's lawsuit directed at OpenAI, alleging they broke the founding agreement by giving priority to profit over the benefits to humanity. But is this the real reason, or is the race to Artificial General Intelligence a motive? Will we see them duke it out in court? Jeff feels a battle of the bots is on the way.
We also bring your attention to Anthropic's release of Claude 3, awareness to AI deep fakes during election time and how to spot them, among other news.

  • In today's episode, we cover what Sam Altman said about AGI (artificial general intelligence), a new NASDAQ / Motley Crew headline reporting how AI could add an estimated $15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030 – and the stock winners are not what you think (it's not Microsoft, Apple, or Alphabet). Plus, Tyler Perry halting his custom $800M studio expansion on 300+ acres after seeing OpenAI’s Sora. We also cover Google's Gemini image generation fiasco, and dive into a big question: Does creating bias "protection" in LLMs and AI models create other biases? Are humans the problem all along?
Finally, we end with a wildly sarcastic sponsor read, where AI defines Content at Scale as the only appropriate tool for "when you want to dazzle the internet so hard, it needs sunglasses." Listen in to the very end to catch the output when we prompted AI to ask it how a unicorn laughs: "Hee-hee-hoo-hoo, glitter-glitter!" (What on earth? Listen in.)

  • In today's episode, we go into the rabbit hole of AGI (artificial general intelligence) with some practical, real answers. With OpenAI focused on a clear mission to "ensure that artificial general intelligence—AI systems that are generally smarter than humans—benefits all of humanity," new AI technologies like Sora dropping regularly, and Sam Altman seeking $8T in investments, it's just a matter of time till AGI is put together.
Julia debunks a major news headline circulating fearmongering around Sam Altman, and puts some perspective on why AI isn't some alien technology "dropped on us from the skies." Jeff talks through how AGI can't occur without artificial intelligence achieving a level of near-human reasoning, and what that looks like.
We also cover Amazon's new report predicting a few key AI-powered jobs of the future: a few surprising predictions are precision farming analysts, virtual tourism producers, artisanal restoration specialists, cosmic reality engineers, and AI nurses. These roles envision the use of AI to enhance efficiency, source materials, and analyze data in various fields, from agriculture and tourism to healthcare and interstellar studies
