In 1 Corinthians 9:19-27 Paul uses an athletic metaphor to inspire us to live a discplined life, not to get God's attention, but so that we may not lose that which has apprehended us. God has given a foretaste of an increase of His presence, therefore we want to live in such a way as to be marked by a great move of God.

Paul compares Christians to athletes that are called to run, and run in such a way as to get the prize. Now that the "debt of honor" has been paid, Gateway has found her legs again and it's time to run the race God has laid out for us. Let's not let anything entangle us and keep us from running and serving others.

God has given us freedom and love, which means we have choices. The choice was made clear in John 5 when Jesus healed an invalid man. He instructed him to rise up, pick up his mat and walk. The man had a choice to step into his moment. As Jesus healed this man he confronted the Political and Religious system of his day, proving them unable to help the heart of a man.

In Exodus 3 we see God responding to the slavery and bondage in which the Israelites live. It was the worst of times for them, but the best of times. Best, because God had heard their cry for liberty and responded. However, their liberation was not just about getting out of Egypt, but about getting the Egyptian mindset out of them so Israel could fully embrace their promises.
