  • After George Floyd's death, millions of dollars have been donated to charities and racial justice groups with little discussion as to what we want from those investments. I want to change that dialogue. I want EVERYONE to "BE INTENTIONAL" and create the environment where the outcomes we want can actually happen.

What does "BE INTENTIONAL" mean? It means that we stop giving to charity and start putting money in Black-Owned Banks and letting "Fractional Reserve Banking" do for Blacks what it does for other communities.

On January 21, 2021, I will be hosting a town hall meeting entitled, “Be Intentional: Turning Good Trouble Into Black Independence.” During this event, we will strategize ways the sons and daughters of the Black Diaspora can generate and demand the Trillions we are owed during this event. • In Episode 55, I introduce Guerrillapreneur Academy. Guerrillapreneur Academy episodes are shows where I provide tips and techniques that Guerrillapreneurs should consider to build their businesses. In this episode, I provide 5 steps Guerrillapreneurs should take during a crisis. As of June, 2020, the world was still dealing with the impact of COVID-19. Startups and small businesses have suffered from lack of demand while others have thrived due to a shift in consumer habits. Prior to January, 2020, grocery home delivery was not gaining traction. Shelter-in-place orders changed that. Before you adjust your business, I want you to consider the five steps outlined in this episode.

  • In Episode 54, I interview Lola Ojabowale, a Dartmouth College alum, and the Founder and CEO of Refolo, the food-tech startup that is ending nutrition-related diseases by offering plant-based recipes and customizable weekly meal plans inspired by the culinary legacies of people of color.

Lola was inspired to launch Refolo after her father found out that he had cancer and the treatments affected the types of foods that he could eat especially meats. As she assisted him through his treatment journey, Lola realized that there were hundreds of plant-based alternatives. She also realized that her father was not the only person who needed help. Many African American communities navigate food deserts and have few alternatives for fresh fruits and vegetables. Refolo plans to solve these problems.

  • Welcome to episode 52. In this episode, I interview the owner of Selma, Alabama-based Mark's Mart, Rodney King. Mark's Mart is a specialty shop that is know for it's high-end meal-combos and accompanying wines. Mark's Mart has been in business since 1978 in Selma, Alabama and has recently expanded to a second location in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Mr. King launched his specialty shop in a time when very few existed. In 2013, Oprah Winfrey began production on the movie "Selma." After filming the dramatic bridge scene, Winfrey wanted to share a meal with the cast. Oprah called on Mark's Mart to cater the dinner --and even though Mark's Mart is not in the catering business, King and his staff delivered a service and dinning experience fit for a billionaire. Rodney King points to these types of experiences as key to surviving and winning against chain competitors like #walmart. If you are a small business fighting for your life against chain competitors, this is the episode for you.

  • Welcome to the 51st episode of Guerrillapreneur: The Art of Waging Small Business Warfare. In this episode, I complete my interview with Robert Armstrong, the CEO of the Selma Good Company and producer of G Momma Cookies. Armstrong launched G Momma Cookies from his kitchen and distributed them in as many as 2,500 stores. In 2018, the cookie started to crumble. Robert shares the lessons he learned from expanding too fast on the backs of partners who were not as reliable as he needed them to be. This is an emotional and touching episode. If you have ever built a business, grew it and then had to close it down, you know the pain Robert speaks of in this episode.

Armstrong followed all the Guerrillapreneur rules for expansion and growth, but he still hit a wall. • In this episode, we talk with Victor Okoh, Co-Founder and CEO of Redify.
The Redify platform allows consumers to scan barcode and find out if toxic ingredients referred to as Chemicals of Health Concern (CHCs) in the products you are about to purchase. CHC exposure is linked to many diseases, including cancer, infertility, congenital disabilities, obesity, and more. Manufacturers are not legally required to remove CHCs from their brands unless harm occurs. The Redify app also allows the consumer anonymously report to the company that they are no longer purchasing those harmful products.

  • In this episode, I interview Paul Rosenberg, the author of Rogue Leadership: Harnessing Headwinds to Drive Performance. Paul Rosenberg challenges many current myths and memes circulating in the corporate world. With both humor and rare insight, he has written an easy-to-read volume that shows how "rogue leaders" go against the norm to achieve unconventional success. Elements of effective rogue leadership include:

    1) Bringing play back into business to release stress, create bonds, and inspire creativity and innovation.
20 Using a laser-sharp focus on right action to amplify organizational values.
    3) Embracing "partner leadership" that benefits both frontline workers and bottom-line profits.
    4) Employing "stealth change management" to avoid burn out and to create sustained change.
    5) Learning the art of "organizational triage" maximizes resources and avoids wasted energy, time, and creativity.

  • In this episode, we talk with Nancy Solari, Founder of Living Full Out.
During her childhood and teenage years, she witnessed domestic violence and the divorce of her parents at the age of ten. During these years, she struggled watching her sisters battle with eating disorders and her mother fight breast cancer. Unfortunately, the trials that Nancy experienced continued. At the age of sixteen, she was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, and over the years experienced subtle, yet measurable vision loss. Rather than letting this news as well as her painful past dissuade her from following her dreams, Nancy chose to persevere and is now a guide to those who also want to overcome their obstacles.

Because of retinitis pigmentosa, Nancy mastered the "Business Pivot." She started her career in broadcasting. As she lost her ability to read the prompter, she had to pivot into a career as a professional singer. When her vision prevented her from knowing where she was on the stage, she transitioned into real estate. After the market downturn, Nancy launched "Living Full Out." This is truly an inspiring story.
