  • Confidence is one of those things that can be hard to navigate, sticky even. We live in a society that is constantly asking us to “show up as our best selves” while simultaneously making us feel like we are not enough. So how can we as business owners, as people find the strength and courage to show up and say “this is me, take it or leave it”. How can we find success in our businesses, AND in our lives? I am a firm believer in the gradual becoming of things. Taking time and easing yourself in. People tend to think that amplifying your voice is all about being loud, but this is not the case. I believe amplification can be and look like whatever you choose. Today’s guest has found a way to amplify her voice and that of the passionate women around her. Join the fiery Hannah Pillow and I for an amazing conversation on amplification, confidence and giving ourselves grace. Tune in to hear Hannah share more about the importance of letting things happen when they need to happen, how she is navigating grief, and why in her experience, nothing is ever nothing.

  • We’ve had so many conversations about the journey, about what it takes to live a whole, fulfilling and aligned life. As many of you folks have found, the journey often includes a lot of “work”. It’s easy to get caught up in what we think the “work” should look like, in how the journey should unfold. But often we aren’t taught to surrender to ease or to do the work sustainably. Like many things in life, it all boils down to what works for you. What does making space for ease look like for you? What does success feel like to you? What about sustainability? As humans we often encounter the conundrum of “just being” mainly because letting in and trusting ease can be one of the hardest things to do, and as women and entrepreneurs we are taught that hard work is the only way to success. But often the societal ideas behind the concept of hard work ask us to grind and push and take us farther and farther away from a life of ease, sustainability and authenticity. Today’s guest is someone that is learning the value of slowing down, being intentional and prioritizing the inner work. Join Carly Jo Bell and I as we color and journey together and talk all things sustainability. Tune in to hear more about what it takes to create an easy and sustainable life and business, the value of giving ourselves space to be whole and why sustainability always makes space for things to shift with time.

Meet the Artist: Carly Jo Bell

Carly Jo Bell is an authentic business coach, podcaster, cat mom and plant lover based in sunny Los Angeles, California. Carly is passionate about helping big-hearted entrepreneurs like you show up authentically, stand out confidently, and communicate clearly. Carly is proof that you can have a big heart and make bank from your biz and through her business WholeCo Media, she teaches entrepreneurs how to make more sales easily (without icky tactics), so they can finally create sustainable success in their businesses. After nearly two years of trying to grow her business without much success, Carly took a step back, scrapped everything and decided to play to her strengths giving us the WholeCo motto: “look external for ideas, but internal for answers.” Through her work with WholeCo media and her podcast, Selling Chocolate, Carly hopes to empower entrepreneurs like you to carve your own path by only doing what feels good.

    Listen in as Carly Shares:

  • As travelers on this journey, there comes a time when we are called to step into our power. But what does this look like when we find that society already has a notion of what power and leadership are? This "friction" results in us finding ourselves embodying power in a way that feels inauthentic. Personally and transparently, it took me a long time to realize that my true power and my voice come from me living in my full truth. I speak about my experiences in a way that feels good for me and that is enough. This journey of embodying one's power is uncomfortable and can bring up a lot of emotions, but what if we could make room for what comes? What if the sensations we experience were meant to be felt and released? Today’s guest is someone that has truly leaned in and explored her source of power and how it shows up. Join Alexia Vernon and I for a beautiful conversation on tapping into the power of your voice. Tune in to hear more about her business and mission in life: ‘Step into Your Moxie®’, her childhood and how it has influenced her ability to use her voice, and why her greatest desire is to give permission for different styles of leadership and communication to feel validated and worthy.

Alexia Vernon is a sought-after speaker, coach, consultant and media contributor based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Whether she is keynoting a conference, leading a spotlight speaker coaching program or delivering her Step into Your Moxie® curriculum, her work is showing entrepreneurs, business leaders, consultants and change makers how to fall (back) in love with their voices. Alexia believes that heart-centered, high impact communication and unshakeable stage presence is more about the inner work than it is about finding the right words. Therefore, she dedicates her life to teaching women entrepreneurs how to walk into any room, any conversation, at any stage and unapologetically speak up for themselves and the issues they believe in. Alexia is the author of Step into Your Moxie: Amplify Your Voice Visibility, and Influence in the World. She is the creator and leader of multiple speaker training programs and has delivered transformational keynotes and corporate trainings for Fortune 500 companies and professional associations. • What does justice mean to you? What does it look like for us to harness the power we have to shift our culture? The great Dr. Cornel West once said, “Justice is what love looks like in public”. As a black woman, as a person of color, the pursuit of justice and a more fair and equitable world is something that I fight for. There is no chance of opting out, it is my real life. Justice means different things to each of us but, I think that we can agree that it requires love. Justice requires that we hold up the contrast all around us and that we hold space for humanity, both our own and the humanity of those around us. It is indeed a journey, but one that I believe we must all make. Today’s coloring session is special as I am joined by the passionate Kelly Diels. Join Kelly and I for a vulnerable conversation on justice and making space for joy. Tune in to hear more about the moment that led to Kelly dedicating herself to “this love work”, how she is finding space to pursue her joy, and why she believes there is no such thing as falling behind.

She’s here to raise awareness about how the business-as-usual formulas we learn everywhere actually reproduce oppression and she develops and teaches alternate, feminist marketing tools to help us do it differently. Kelly’s business is based on three tenets, to help culture makers personally get out of shame and into power and use it to change EVERYTHING, professionally grow a business that makes money and justice, and politically co-create a future in which we all flourish.

    Listen in as Kelly Shares:

  • It can be easy to forget that your voice is powerful. Sometimes, we are afraid to stand up for ourselves, for other folks, or even for the things we believe in. Learning to tap into your voice and the power that it yields can take time but what matters most is that you try. It's important that we speak up even when our voice shakes because this is how we build and care for ourselves and our communities. • Toni Morrison once wrote: “ freeing yourself is one thing, claiming ownership of that freed self is another.” Sometimes, it can feel like the safest option to hold on to ideas, beliefs and identities that no longer serve us. But what happens when the path we thought would free us leaves us feeling stuck? What happens when we outgrow our old ways of being? We learn to honor ourselves and our feelings. We learn to do what’s best for us, surrender to the journey and walk this new path. This isn’t done in a day it’s the journey of a lifetime but it can be done. We can chose to walk away from what no longer aligns with us, release everything we thought the journey would be and just live. Today’s guest teaches the value of letting go of old ways of being and creating a life that truly inspires you. Join Britany Felix and I for a candid conversation on letting go. • Often, we as women feel the need to have it all together. Whether in our personal lives or our careers, this pressure never really seems to end. As marginalized folks, we know the importance of using our voices, the responsibility we have to our communities, and just how much representation matters. But it is easy to get so caught up in all the noise and get overwhelmed with our never ending to-do-lists that we forget to show up authentically as ourselves. What would it mean to slow down and take it one moment at a time? What if you were to give yourself space to exist outside of the boxes you “have” to tick to be worthy of success and a platform to share your voice? I believe that your message is your gift to the world and it deserves to be heard simply because it is yours. Today’s guest knows the value of slowing down, stepping outside of the boxes and making space to intentionally do what feels good. Join Carrie and I as we explore the life lessons she has learned and how these have helped her build a sustainable, successful business and community. • Trust is a fundamental part of the journey, whether it’s learning to trust ourselves or the ones we love. It can however be difficult for folks to make space for the vulnerability and openness that trust requires. But like everything else trust is learned and earned over time. The trust we have in ourselves pours into every other aspect of our lives. While this is true, the word “trust” can be a trigger for many as it often brings up the parts of our past where it brought more pain than healing. But what if we could be gentle with ourselves and listen to the parts of us that are untrusting? What if we could give these parts space to teach and reveal to us how to make our way to ourselves again? Today’s guest is someone that is slowly but surely rebuilding her relationship with trust. Join Kate Nash and I for a vulnerable conversation on trust and entrepreneurship and the lessons she has learned on being creative, how her life has influenced her relationship with trust, and why she believes our struggles are connected to our most powerful parts.

She is a featured author in ‘Just Say No’ a book for faith-based entrepreneurs who want to set healthy boundaries in business and relationships. • Releasing is a powerful thing to do. Many of us hold on to a lot of things whether they serve us or not. It can be quite difficult to experience shifts in who we are and downright grief inducing to realize the lives we are living no longer serve us or align with our highest good. Giving ourselves space to let go and walk away is deeply freeing. So how do we find the courage to put ourselves first? How do we move through the feelings of guilt or loss that may come with releasing in a society that teaches women to put others first? Releasing old ideas, expectations, or unhealthy coping mechanisms all require three things: patience, practice and grace. Today’s guest is a person learning the power of letting go. Join Helen King and I for a candid, vulnerable conversation on learning to surrender when life doesn’t go according to plan. Tune in to hear more about: How her identity has shifted after her recent ADHD diagnosis, how her cancer experience has taught her to create the best possible life for herself and why releasing expectations is a courageous act.

    Meet the Artist: Helen

Helen King is a podcaster, podcast professional, cancer survivor and stay-at-home cat mom living in Auckland (Tāmaki Makaurau) New Zealand. Through her work with the podcast as well as The C-word Radio Blog, Helen hopes to share her own experiences and those of other survivors in order to make people feel less alone. After receiving an ADHD diagnosis well into her adulthood, Helen also uses her platform to chronicle her experiences as a neurodivergent person.

    Listen in as Helen shares:

How her ADHD diagnosis has shifted her idea of who she is Why she believes release is a powerful thing (and how this has shown up in her life and business) Lessons from her cancer experience: how the uncertainity of life has taught her to let go How letting go of “shoulds” has impacted her business Her number one rule when it comes to pricing yourself Why it is a powerful thing to be vulnerable and share your voice in front of other people The reason that real life begins when you start unlearning How she has learned that success will not cure loss (and why this is okay)

  • I often speak about the importance of using your voice and how your message can make a difference. For me, this platform has not only been a way to bring folks together but has also been a great source of personal healing. However, sometimes it is easy to get swayed into thinking about “right” or “wrong”. Sometimes we get so afraid of messing up that we don’t give ourselves the chance to try. What if there was a way to walk this journey from a place of neutrality? A space where good or bad doesn’t exist and you get to make the next move based on what truly aligns. The purpose of life is not to stop making mistakes, but rather to acknowledge the choices we are making and determine whether or not they are in alignment. It’s about listening to and choosing what feels good and allowing this feeling to integrate into all parts of our lives. Today, I am super excited to be coloring and journeying with the amazing Stacy Kellogg. Join Stacy and I for a conversation on the power of your message and why it’s important to get it out there even when we are afraid. Tune in to hear Stacy share tidbits and lessons from her life and career. From learning that there is no “right way” to the importance of community.

    Meet the Artist: Stacy

Stacy Kellogg is a Coach and Podcaster living in Athens Georgia. She helps leaders deepen their impact by growing their innate curiosity, compassion, and creativity. Born and raised in the mountains of Southwest Colorado, Stacy grew up loving lip sync dance parties, exploring nature, and studying people. She believes she came into this world with a knack for understanding what lights people up and reflecting it back to them. Professionally, in a variety of roles, she has worked with sexual assault survivors, prison inmates, individuals and families seeking affordable housing, people who were unemployed and under-employed, and even the author and icon Mama Gena. The common thread between survivor advocacy, restorative justice, affordable housing, stable employment, and women’s empowerment is that while the people and circumstances and goals were different, she was always gently guiding people towards their own sense of personal fulfillment. As the host of The Outgrow the Grind podcast, Stacy helps women learn how to grow a more fulfilling life where they are investing their time and energy into what they truly love.

    Listen in as Stacy shares:

How the pandemic and her need for connection influenced her podcasting career The story of the podcast that never was and the event that led to Outgrow the Grind Why it’s okay to make mistakes (and why she is choosing to love herself anyway) More about the joy that comes from giving your body what it has been craving How she learned that there is no “right way” (and why your message is bigger than the fear)

  • As we go through life, we often find questions in our hearts that we hope the journey can answer. Sometimes, adhering too much to our idea of the answer can make us miss the point completely. What if we were to give ourselves the space to pause, reflect, process and then discover possibilities outside of our expectations? What would that change? What would it free up inside of us? How would your journey be different? Giving ourselves space to discover who we are without rigid planning is a much needed kindness. It’s okay to make mistakes, to feel frustrated or stuck and to surrender to big emotions because beautiful discoveries can come from these places. Today’s guest is someone that can teach us the power of surrendering to the journey and all the important discoveries we find along the way. Join Julie Neale and I as we explore the beauty of releasing expectations and letting the journey be our guide. • In a world that wants folks to constantly be "doing", it can be hard to give ourselves space to exist. To just be. Sometimes dropping all the tasks that make us “go go go” can make us feel anxious. As Black women, being "strong" and “resilient” is so deeply embedded in how others see and describe us, that it can slowly become something that keeps us from being our most authentic selves. Learning how “to be'' is a part of the journey. It takes practice and it takes time. Join me and the amazing Laura Cathcart Robbins as we journey together and have a candid conversation around releasing the burden of “doing” and allowing ourselves “to be”.
