  • What is an intuitive business? What mistakes might we make along the path of practicing intuitive business? What valuable lessons might we learn from them?

Running a business as a creative mystic is not easy. It can often feel like the skills & mindsets that feed into business success are diametrically opposed to the values one holds as an artist and a practitioner.

But what if these two aspects of our work are potential lovers who simply need to practice collaborating so they can finally understand they're not enemies, after all?

In this conversation with Michelle Pellizzon-Lipsitz, we explored this juicy liminal intersection.

Michelle Pellizzon is a researcher, creative business consultant, artist, writer, entrepreneur, and witch.

She's one of the most creative people I know and her artistry overflows into everything she does. You may know her through her company Holisticism, or her podcast The Twelfth House, or her membership portal The North Node.

  • Where do our spiritual and creative lives intersect? How might our spiritual practices bolster our inner artist? How might our creative practice embolden our inner sage?

In this episode, I invited energy and inner child healing practitioner Natasha Levinger for a conversation to discuss the overlaps between creativity and spirituality. Natasha is also a writer and a musician who's spent many years in the world of improv.

We explored the fear of listening to our creative inner child & making space for them in our lives, breaking down rigid definitions of creativity, and the difference between openness and codependency.

Towards the end, Natasha shared her brilliant take on creative manifestation and some practices she's found helpful in deepening a co-creative relationship with reality.

    Here's Natasha's bio:

Natasha Levinger is a therapeutic intuitive, energy healer, and author of the book, “Healing Your Inner Child: Reparenting Yourself for a More Secure and Loving Life”. She spends much of her time deep diving into all aspects of spiritual and emotional healing in the search to uncover patterns that stop us from being all that we are. Sharing those discoveries with others to help them feel free and fulfilled is her passion and life’s work.

  • How might we respond to the grief and fear that arise as layers of conditioning melt away? How might we access compassion as we honor difference in our respective paths?

The theme for December is Melting The Ice, Revealing The Inner Fire.

In this episode, I share some contemplations for us to return to throughout the month.

December 2024 starts with a wobbly New Moon in Sagittarius, ruled by a retrograde Jupiter in Gemini. The second half of the month begins with a Full Moon in Gemini, and the month ends with a gentle New Moon in Capricorn. Mars will retrograde in Leo, Venus will enter Aquarius, and we'll have the second Jupiter-Saturn square.

I also pulled 6 of Pentacles, 8 of Swords, and The Moon from the Tabula Mundi tarot, as well as the Dream card from The Dragon Mother Oracle.

  • How have the shifts in the distribution of information impact the mindset of readers in recent decades? What is the role of spiritual practitioners within the current media ecosystem? How might artists and creators design a path of sustainable, reciprocal relationships with those who enjoy their work?

On the one hand, the current media landscape provides an ideal setting for anyone who'd like to share their work. As long as you have internet and a device, you could theoretically share your work with the whole digital world. On the other hand, it can feel increasingly challenging to get our work to the right people, let alone to cut through the noise and make a sustainable living.

In this captivating conversation, I invited writer and editor Emily Bingham to share her extensive experience and brilliant insights on these big questions.

    Here's Emily's bio:

Emily Bingham is a writer and editor working at the intersection of nature, wonder and well-being. Her work aims to guide readers to a deeper awareness of and appreciation for the complex living landscapes around us and within ourselves. Most recently she was a reporter for Michigan’s largest digital news site, where she covered nature, the night sky, regional travel and outdoor recreation. She is currently on a self-made sabbatical after nearly 20 years in journalism. In addition to learning what it means to truly rest, she is exploring continued ways of being a facilitator of curiosity and connection – this time through her trainings in astrology, herbalism, flower essences, yoga nidra and guided time in nature. Follow her on instagram at @emilyisoutside for current writings and future offerings.

Emily also recently recorded a lo-fi yoga nidra practice, which you can access here.

  • Should I work with a mental health professional or a spiritual practitioner? What considerations should I take into account? How do they provide different kinds of support?

These are some questions I find myself asking at various points of my journey – both as a mystical practitioner and as someone who also seeks out support. In conversations with clients and students, I find that others are asking them, too. And so, I invited my dear friend, Martha Alter Hines to share her insights and her experiences.

For twenty years, Martha worked as a clinical social worker, psychotherapist, and body worker prior to answering her soul's calling to offer spiritual guidance using energy work and astrology.

We discussed both what to expect when receiving spiritual vs. mental health support, the intersections and the distinctions between the two, and how to take responsibility for your own spiritual and mental health journeys.

If you'd like to go deeper, check out these offerings from Martha:

I also encourage you to check out Martha's sessions, courses, and subscribe to Martha's amazing YouTube channel!

    Here's Martha's bio:

Martha Alter Hines, MSW, is a mom, an author, a healer, and an astrologer. Martha has twenty years of experience as a clinical social worker, psychotherapist, and body worker. She has primarily studied Evolutionary Astrology with Ari Moshe Wolfe and Heather Ensworth as well.

Martha bridges her trauma informed clinical background with her astrological knowledge, as well as a deep understanding of ourselves as beings of the cosmos, Earth, divine, heart, mind, and so much more.

Martha was born in Thailand and grew up in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Kenya, and the United States. Therefore, she has a deep passion for alleviating the suffering of our world.

Martha is dedicated to serving our world, to helping us each to thrive, and to supporting us to come back into the infinite wisdom and healing that is our natural state of being.

  • Where are we committed to fundamental misunderstandings about the nature of suffering? In what areas of life are we finally ready to embrace that different outcomes might be possible? How do we create the space to honor & cultivate the emergence of new realities?

The theme for November is Replenishing The Well of Hope.

In this episode, I share some contemplations for us to return to throughout the month.

November 2024 starts with a gnarly New Moon in Scorpio, ruled by a grouchy Mars in Cancer. By the end of the month, we'll be gearing up for another New Moon in Sagittarius, which starts December off. Mercury will be moving into Sagittarius before going retrograde, Mars will move into Leo, Venus will move into Capricorn, and Pluto will move into Aquarius.

  • What might shift when we orient to the unfinished process of life as nourishment, rather than obstacles? What perspectives become available to us when we treat iterations as gifts?

In this episode, I digest and deepen into some of the transmissions that came through the monthly astrological contemplation for October 2024 (Episode 174. Embodying The Resource: Astrology of October 2024).

  • How do we express aliveness and honesty through our voices? How do our relationships with moving, interruptions, and presence help in the journey of finding authenticity through the sounds our voices make?

I feel blessed to record this conversation with Marisa Michelson. Marisa has been building a body of work that examines singing through the multidimensionality of the human being / becoming. When I first found Marisa's work, I was stunned that someone has not only asked the questions I grapple with at various points in my journey, but has sincerely explored them with the devotion, love, and skill they deserve.

In this conversation, we discussed Marisa's process with composing music, teaching, and exploring the voice in service of freer singing, healing, self-growth, sexuality, and spiritual inquiry. We explored non-verbal expressions, feeling saturated with life, the connections between limitation and liberation, and the practice of presence.

    To connect with Marisa:

    Here's Marisa's bio:

Marisa is a multiple award-winning composer of music-theatre, musicals, oratorio and choral works, and was the founding director of the psychedelic vocal performance ensemble Constellation Chor | an immersion in voice, movement, and spirit which performed throughout New York City and international for seven years, debuting a new music composition with the NY Philharmonic at Lincoln Center in 2018. Her musicals have been produced off-Broadway, her oratorio was performed many times in NYC and in Salt Lake City, and you may hear some of her music wherever music streams.

Marisa has been obsessed with all the magic that is the singing, voice-giving, expressive human for over two decades, exploring the uniqueness of solo, ensemble and multiply interweaving voices as a composer, a performer and a sought after somatic singing teacher. Somehow, voice-giving and its relation to the body, spirit and psyche has continued to call her forward - no matter the musical genre, and beyond any binary between performance and healing, composition and improvisation, process and product.

After almost two decades of devotion to the Libero Canto School of Singing (a primary lineage of hers), she created the School of Vocal De-Armoring, a somatic and holistic approach to working with singing and voice-giving in a way that connects us more intimately with the layered dimensions of Self. Vocal De-Armoring is not focused on particular aesthetic sound outcomes, though aesthetic improvement - which is subjective - is an important byproduct, but, instead, on self-connection and on learning to sing from a place of honesty. At the same time, Vocal De-Armoring practices help a person develop musical and vocal mastery. Vocal De-Armoring is also about de-conditioning, and Human-ing from a place of Truth.

Marisa lives, works, plays and teaches in Ancram on Mohican land in upstate New York.

  • Who is Mars, the warrior, in the primordial waters of Cancer? What are their challenges and opportunities? What wisdom might they have for us?

For those of you paying attention, Mars is spending a very long time in Cancer between Fall 2024 - Spring 2025.

In anticipation of the upcoming Mars Retrograde, I've been noticing subtle messages and telltale signs from Mars in Cancer.

In this episode, I'm sharing a transmission I received on Mars in Cancer when I facilitated my Mars container, EYES ON THE EDGE.

  • How do we expand our perspectives on resourcing? How might we become an embodiment of the resources we wish to see in the world? How do maintain active, grounded hope in a burning world?

The theme for October is Embodying The Resource.

In the midst of unexpected losses and unprecedented pain, how do we maintain connection to our spirit as a resource?

In this episode, I share some contemplations for us to return to throughout the month.

October 2024 starts with an annular solar eclipse in Libra. By the end of the month, we'll be gearing up for another non-eclipse New Moon in Scorpio, which starts November off. Venus's move from Scorpio to Sagittarius plays an important role in shifting the energy mid-month.

  • What is a cosmology? How do we cultivate relationships with the cultures we exist within grounded in awareness? How do we honor, respect, and love those who hold different values and ideas about reality?

What a joy to have Xenia Viray back on the podcast. Xenia is someone I deeply admire for her ability to weave seemingly disparate concepts into nourishing fertilizer for the imagination.

In this conversation, we discussed Xenia's upcoming offering Create Your Cosmology through the lens of the 'cult' in culture, Human Design circuits, the experience of being misunderstood as we claim our roles as visionaries, and co-existing with those who hold differing, even discordant, cosmologies to our own.

I also invite you to check out Create Your Cosmology, Xenia's 9-week hybrid experience for original creatives, nuanced thinkers, and sensitive Imagineers who want to be the creative director of their belief systems and express their truth with confidence and compassion. It begins on September 24, 2024.

I'll be sharing a workshop in Create Your Cosmology called "The Art of Cosmic Conversations" centered around creating a practice of conversing with planets that honor sovereignty, interdependence, and our inherent kinship with the cosmos.

    Here's Xenia's bio:
Xenia Marie Ross Viray (she/they) is an imagination healer, frequency artist, and creativity catalyst with a focus on experiential learning containers and writing. She is the eldest of three sisters, and her name means kindness to strangers. Born as a brick-and-mortar fashion business, Myths of Creation (the name of Xenia's collective body of work) is a container for experiments, art, writing, and gatherings at the intersection of creativity, spirituality, and meaning-making. Xenia's work reconnects communities, ideas, and art forms that are traditionally siloed to enrich the pool of imaginal possibility. Her offerings are designed to help spirited innovators anchor their natural genius into form and include Imaginal Temple, a creative mystical mentorship, the Garden of the Imaginal Substack, and an evolving cornucopia of courses, workshops, and 1:1 sessions which you can find at MythsofCreation.com and @mythsofcreation on IG.

  • How do we hold the complexity of arriving at simplicity? How does becoming aware of love's presence help us transform fear into wisdom? How does working with our emotional pain assist with returning us to innocence?

The theme for September is Arriving at Simplicity.

The route to simplicity is often anything but simple. It can be riddled with confusion, chaos, and doubt.

In this episode, I share some contemplations for us to return to throughout the month.

September 2024 starts with a New Moon in Virgo. It ends with the Sun conjoining the North Node in Libra. In between, we have the Full Moon in Pisces, which ushers the second eclipse season of the year, and Mars entering Cancer.

  • What is the open throat center in Human Design? How do we work with its unique gifts and challenges in the process of deconditioning?

The open / undefined throat is one of my favorite topics in Human Design.

It's said that only 29% of the population has an open throat center, making it the least common out of the open centers. Unsurprisingly (and pun intended), there's a lot of misconceptions, misunderstandings, and, frankly, terrible advice about how to live with an open throat center.

In this episode, I share about my process understanding, deconditioning, and ultimately befriending my undefined throat.

Thank you Kelsey Rose Tortorice for the question! You can listen to my conversation with Kelsey here. She also has incredible courses to help you learn Human Design, Human Design for the Astrologically Minded and Living Your Design.

  • How might thinking open a portal to embodied transcendence? What role do the right questions at the right time play in walking an open-hearted path?

Thinking is often bedeviled in 'spiritual' spaces.

Thinking has been marketed as the enemy of the heart-centered, spirit-led life. Thinking has been defined as the opposite of embodiment. Thinking has been dubbed the root of all sufferings.

But does thinking not also happen in the body? Why does Life gift us minds alongside bodies and hearts, if we were asked to shut it down to reach spiritual mastery?

I explore these spiky questions from the lens of the Mercury Retrograde in Virgo and the Mercury Cazimi in Leo.

I also mentioned some of my teachers, Diana Rose Harper and Deborah Kremins, as well as a container I'm currently facilitating, Deep Spirit Medicine.

  • What might Venus's fall in Virgo teach us about love at the crossroads? How might we marry pleasure and devotion?

August seems to be Venus veneration month for me.

Last year, around the same time, we sat by the altar of Venus as they were making their retrograde in Leo (Episode 89. Contemplating Venus Retrograde in Leo 2023: Illuminating The Loveless Places).

This year, existential Venusian questions haunted me as the laughter-loving queen transited through my ascendant degree. They woke me from a slumber and demanded an episode be recorded in their honor.

What do we do when our desires require that we alchemize conditioned passivity into meticulous strategizing?

How do we access a deeper well of love when it becomes apparent that consistent tending is necessary?

I mentioned the works of Leah Garza and Kathryn Solie in this episode.

  • What is authentic planning? How might we be able to use our planning skills to create work that feels energetically true to us? Are there times when planning actually compromise the sacred flow of the work?

In this episode, I shared lessons and contemplations on the heart of planning. Contrary to popular beliefs, planning will neither solve all your problems nor will it kill your creativity. The truth, of course, is more nuanced.

Planning is a tool. Like any other tool, there are considerations for using it well. Planning can help us effectively direct our efforts towards important projects that bring deep satisfaction. Planning can feel authentic, easeful, and liberating. In contrast, planning can also imprison us, frustrate us, or distract us from the true work at hand.

So what distinguishes life-giving planning from soul-sucking planning?

In hindsight, I'm surprised it's taken this long for me to talk about planning on the podcast. As a Virgo rising, this is one of the major themes in my life that continue to pop up no matter where I go. I've resorted to planning obsessively when I'm frustrated or heartbroken. I've also kneeled at the altar of planning and have lifelong prayers be answered with a great deal of surprising efficiency.

Special thanks to Tiffany (@tiffografi on Threads) for sharing a question that prompted this exploration, as well as to Michelle Pellizzon who's taught me to heal my heart and fall back in love with my life through organization, clarity, and System Spells.

  • How are human bodies extensions of the lands we live on? How do we remember threads of connection interwoven in the earth? How might deepening our elemental connections assist us in times of uncertainty?

In the past few months, I have been collaborating with Marika Clymer and Carolyn Egan on a zine project, lovingly named Bodies of Land. This issue is an ode to the energetics of Summer 2024 seen through the lens of the body, plants, and planets, and it's incredibly gorgeous. It's available for digital download here.

In this episode, I invited Marika and Carolyn to explore he themes that run through the zine, including the land as a body, the human body as an extension of the land itself, and how astrology can bring us closer to our inherent connection and belonging with the rest of creation.

We also discussed how knowledge can become pathways to deepen connections rather than barriers to deny connections with life, being with uncertainty, and the energetics of fire.

We also explored the behind the scenes process of creating the zine, including how the three of us ended up collaborating on this zine, and how the summer has immersed us in experiences that deepened our embodiment of the themes of the zine.

Carolyn and Marika have taught me so much through the generous sharing of their perspectives and their presence in the process of creating this zine.

If you resonate with our discussions, we invite you to check out the zine here.
