  • 576: Being Ready to Respond When God Speaks- Hearing God’s Voice Series, Daily Devotional, Bible Study
When we are pursuing God, to become more like God (His nature and character), that process is called sanctification. That process is God’s work, not our work. Ultimately, we are powerless to change on our own. God’s nature in us is what allows us to change. Paul mentions 35 times that righteousness is a gift from God. Human striving doesn’t work. But it doesn’t mean that we do nothing. Instead, we need to be ready, placed in a posture of being ready for God to work in our lives. Join me for today's devotional Bible study episode.

  • 574: Hearing God’s Voice in the Valley- Hearing God’s Voice Series, Devotional, Bible Study
So many people live for the mountain top experiences because that’s when they feel closest to God. It's not that He isn’t present in the valleys, we just need to learn how to recognize Him there. People sometimes blame this on their pastors or the preaching instead of recognizing that the issue is their own relationship with God. The spiritual disciplines will help us be intentional about growing that relationship. Join me for today's devotional, Bible study episode.

  • 573: Keeping the Flame Burning- Hearing God’s Voice Series, Devotional, Bible Study
There is a faulty belief that our love or passion will get us where we need to go. But the danger of being a person who burns brightly is that you consume fuel quicker. You will eventually burn out unless you learn how to develop a sustainable relationship with God. Today we talk through this and look at the example of David in the Psalms in today's devotional Bible study episode.

  • 570: How God Empowers Us to Be Who He Has Called Us To Be: Proverbs 31 Woman: Women of the Old Testament, Bible Study, Devotional

The Proverbs 31 woman is seen as an example of the ideal Christian woman who follows after God. This passage describes her qualities and actions, including being an excellent wife and mother, working hard, being self-disciplined, and showing hospitality and charity. While she may seem unattainable, our identity is in Christ, and we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to grow and strive towards these qualities. It's important to remember that spiritual growth is a slow process, and the goal is not perfection but growth. We should also not compare ourselves to others but focus on the calling God has for us.

  • 565: God’s Provision During Desperate Times: Widow of Zarephath: Women of the Old Testament Bible Study
In this episode, Rachael explores the story of a nameless widow from the Old Testament who experiences a miraculous provision from God. Despite being in a desperate and hopeless situation, the widow demonstrates faith and obedience, which leads to a supernatural abundance of food and sustenance. This story serves as a contrast to the previous episode's focus on Jezebel and highlights the power of God's intervention in the lives of His people. The widow's story also connects to the New Testament, where Jesus references her story and performs a similar miracle. The key takeaway is the importance of having faith and trust in God, even in the midst of desperate circumstances.

  • 564: Walking on Egg Shells: Jezebel: Women of the Old Testament Bible Study
In this episode, Rachael explores the story of Jezebel and her reputation. Jezebel, the wife of King Ahab, was a pagan princess who opposed the worship of Yahweh. She was manipulative, domineering, and exploited people to get what she wanted. Jezebel's name has become synonymous with evil and immorality. Rachael encourages listeners to examine their own reactions when faced with rejection or boundaries and strive to leave a legacy of kindness, love, and faith.

  • 563: Knowing About God Isn’t The Same as KNOWING God: Queen of Sheba: Women of the Old Testament Bible Study
The story of the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon is about seeking wisdom and knowing God. The Queen of Sheba traveled a great distance to test Solomon with hard questions and was overwhelmed by his wisdom. However, knowing about God is not the same as knowing Him. It is surrendering to Him, recognizing our need for Him, and seeking a personal relationship with Him. We don't have to go to great lengths to know God; we have access to Him right where we are. It's about drawing others to God through our lives and surrendering our hearts and lives to Him.

  • 560: No One Has it All Together: Avoiding the Comparison Trap: Abigail: Women of the Old Testament Bible Study
Abigail's story teaches us that no one has it all together, despite appearances. We should not compare ourselves to others or make assumptions about their lives. Instead, we should be kind and compassionate, as we never know what someone may be going through. Abigail's husband, Nabal, was harsh and mean, and she had to intervene to prevent David from attacking him. Abigail showed wisdom and mercy, and David was moved by her words.
