The Boer War (1899–1902) was more than just a colonial conflict; it was a defining moment in the history of the British Empire and South Africa. This brutal war between the British and the Boer republics of the Transvaal and the Orange Free State was a fight over land, gold, and political control, but it also served as a precursor to the total war tactics of the 20th century.

War has never been fought by humans alone. Throughout history, animals have played vital roles in combat, serving as messengers, transporters, scouts, protectors, and even symbols of resilience. Few figures in Mexican history are as legendary, controversial, and enigmatic as Pancho Villa. He was a bandit, a revolutionary, a general, and a folk hero remembered for his role in the Mexican Revolution (1910–1920) and his daring cross-border raid on the United States. Villa’s life was filled with violence, ambition, and contradictions; at times, a Robin Hood-like figure, at others, a brutal warlord.

On June 23, 1985, the deadliest act of terrorism in Canadian history unfolded in the skies off the coast of Ireland, when Air India Flight 182, a Boeing 747 en route from Toronto to Delhi via Montreal and London, was blown apart midair by a bomb, killing all 329 people on board. Among the dead were 268 Canadian citizens. Until the September 11 attacks on the United States in 2001, it would be the deadliest act of aviation terrorism in world history.

Could a band of battle-hardened Romans have made it to the farthest reaches of the known world?

Sometime in 1901, a reporter asked Abraham Lincoln’s son, Robert Todd Lincoln, if he was planning to attend a particular presidential reception. The Partition of India in 1947 was one of the most defining and devastating moments in modern history. It was a story of a nation torn apart at birth, a story of hope shattered by hatred, and a story of unimaginable suffering for millions of ordinary people. To understand the Partition, one must understand the centuries of history that preceded it and the decisions made in the final, chaotic moments of British rule that sealed the fate of the Indian subcontinent.
