But as we all know, the path to there isn't always smooth sailing. Melody faced significant hurdles along the way, including grappling with doubts related to PCOS and navigating the challenge of letting go of her fit girl identity.

Tune in to hear Melody's inspiring story—it's a testament to resilience and the power of determination. I'm certain many of you will find her journey relatable and inspiring.

The PCOS study I mentioned (and slightly butchered 😂).

  • There are many things that are important for period recovery. As a coach, when I look at client food logs and consider recommendations, there are a few things that come up time and time again. Today, I'm sharing them with you.

    Adrenal cocktail ideas:

    ADRENAL COCKTAILS

    Option 1:

    1/2 cup orange juice

    1 tsp cream of tarter

    Splash of Redmonds

    Sea Salt

    Option 2:

    11 oz Coconut Water

    ¼ tsp Celtic Sea Salt

    ½ lime

    1 scoop Natural Calm

    Ice

Option 3: This one is called "Creamsicle Adrenal Cocktail"

1/2 cup pull-free orange juice, no sugar added (and preferably freshly squeezed)

    2 tbs coconut milk, unsweetened

1 scoop vanilla (or unflavored) collagen

    1/4 tsp cream of tartar

1/4 tsp sea salt or pink Himalayan salt

    - Root vegetables, under rated for recovery!

    - Reducing/removing caffeine. Here is a link to my video about caffeine: https://youtu.be/hD5aRude7GM

    - Eating regularly, including snacks: Snacks between all meals help with blood sugar, energy and getting calories in.

    - Eating protein, carbs and fat with all main meals: blood sugar, cals, stress... all the things!

    - Eating first thing in the morning: same as above - calories, stress etc.

  • In today's episode listeners ask about the possibility of doing multiple 'conflicting' recovery strategies at once: bulking to gain size, running to get faster.... oh but doing them at the same time as recovery. Is it possible? How would you have to do it?

    Learn more from Jay:

    Questions I ask Jay:

Hypothalamic amenorrhea in women is when energy intake is so low, and typically energy output is also too high, and a menstrual cycle stops. Let’s talk about what this looks like for men? RED-S etc. Many people, in particular women, feel like men (eg, their partners) don’t have to eat as much, can skip meals etc, and can train as much as they want, and it’s difficult for women to continue eating to heal with this comparison. Is it true? Can men just train and fast as they want with no repercussions? What are some signs and symptoms that a males hormones are “out of balance”TRT for men is everywhere: It feels like this huge discussion is advertising that TRT in any and all men has absolutely no negative repercussions and only an upside. Is there truly no cost to TRT for men? Should they all be going to their doctor to try and get it? Do these clinics opening up specifically for TRT make senes for the most part? Many already unwell women, and likely men, believe that so long as they are eating enough they should be able to exercise during a healing phase. What does it look like for exercise to actually be harmful?

  • Theresa shares her story of recovery as a life long dancer whose disordered journey with food started from a young age.

She talks about lacking a true sense of self because of her history and how after 3 weeks with Ashley she recovered from 10 years of hypothalamic amenorrhea... well ok then!!

But it's not always a smooth journey. She lost cycle again after "going back" to old ways, hoping that recovery "would just stick" which is a really common downfall... but she was able to resolve everything again after more learning.

  • I received a listener question about her moral dilemma – to leave veganism in order to improve her health and get her period back... or not. Clearly, it's a very hard decision for her to make and many others are in a similar boat. Wanting to maintain veganism throughout amenorrhea recovery is a widely shared challenge. So here is what I can tell you based on my experience with vegan and vegetarian clients.
