  • This week’s guest is one of the most highly respected Sports Cardiologists in the world and a sub 2:30 marathoner. He is the Head of the Heart, Exercise and Research Trials Lab at St Vincent’s Institute and the Victor Chang Cardiovascular Research Institute, as well as being a Cardiologist and Head of Cardiovascular Research at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne.

    He completed a PhD at St Vincent’s and University of Melbourne and 4 years of post-doctoral research at the University Hospital of Leuven in Belgium. His research and clinical work focuses on the effect of exercise on the human heart.

    He has more than 300 peer-review publications and text-book chapters, serves on multiple international guideline statements and is regularly invited to present at all major international cardiology conferences.

He was the 2nd youngest person to break the 4min mile, behind Jakob Ingebrigtsen and holds the world record for the fastest mile by a 16year old.     Jakob Ingebrigsten took out his third European Cross Country title in Antalya, Turkiye ahead of Yemanebehran Crippa of Italy, with Spain winning the Men’s Team title.Nadia Battocletti of Italy won the Women’s Title ahead of Konstanze Klosterhalfen of Germany, with Italy also winning the Women’s Team Title.Results via World Athletics

Brad is the 12th fastest Australian of all time over the marathon with a PB of 2.10.11 when he won the Gold Coast Marathon in 1989, he has represented Australia at the olympics, world cross country championships and Commonwealth Games.     Andy Buchanan set a new National Record, running 2:06:22 at the Valencia Marathon, placing 16th overall. Izzi Batt-Doyle ran 2:22:59 for third all time, 8th in the race. Both qualify for next year’s Athletics World Championship in Tokyo.

    Izzi joins in early to chat about going for the Australian record and recaps her race, the pace planning involved and giving the race as an emotional tribute to her friend Bailey.

    One of the biggest names in American Marathoning, Lindsay Flanagan joins Brady for the weekend interview.

    She was 9th place at the 2023 World Champs and the Winner of the 2022 GC Marathon. She joins him fresh off her 2.23 at Chicago for 9th overall and 2nd American.
