Kurt Gunn is at the top of his game as a singer-songwriter, performer, and recording artist. Even though he won the 2024 WAMI Award for Album of the Year, he's not willing to rest on his past work preferring to explore avenues in music that make him grow as an artist. On September 26, Kurt will be dropping two albums. Not a double album, but TWO separate albums of all new original music that might just be the best material he's served up to date. South Facing is a warm, introspective solo acoustic album recorded by Marc Golde the old fashioned way—to tape. North Facing is the first ever all electric album by The Kurt Gunn Band and it simply does not disappoint. Listen as Kurt, Marc, the band, and special guests Ann Koenig and Brad Bordini give us the scoop about the new music from Kurt Gunn.

Advance tickets for The Kurt Gunn Band's album release gig on September 26, 2024 at Gibson Community Music Hall can be purchased at https://gibsonmusichall.com.

Individually, Brad Bordini and Kurt Gunn are two of the best singer-songwriters you'll come across. Together as The Brothers Gunn, they take their craft to an entirely new level. What makes The Brothers Gunn who they are goes back a long time when they started their friendship as young men. Their friendship has weathered all sorts of good times and adversity over the years, so their bond as brothers is as solid as it gets. They both have been writing and recording their own material, so the time has finally come to release their very first single, "Receipts," as The Brothers Gunn. On hand along with Kurt and Brad is producer Marc Golde who knows them as well as anyone. Sit back and enjoy their story, their camaraderie, and their music.

Dave Schoepke is one talented guy. He's a drummer who composes songs for drums and creates some interesting and innovative albums comprised of these songs. On top of that he is the other half of Willy Porter's rhythm section (along with bassist Eric Madunic) and he's an accomplished drum teacher who has his methods published by Hal Leonard Publishing. He's drummed behind Jethro Tull guitarist Martin Barre and more recently found himself pounding the skins in US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis as part of Sundown47 opening for Zach Bryan. You'd think this would expand one's ego, but hardly so with Dave. He simply enjoys drumming and sharing what he has to offer through his albums, performances, and teaching.

David Janke (a.k.a. Lil' Davy Max) is a true bluesman through and through. From learning guitar at an early age to teenage midnight forays to see blues legends perform miles from his home to becoming friends with the likes of Muddy Waters, you will know that David is the real deal. He is a gracious and authentic man who is as captivating to talk with as he is to listen to when he's delivering a solid performance. His music reflects the great Chicago blues traditions and whether he's belting out a vocal, blowing his blues harp, or cranking out incredible guitar solos, he will undoubtedly have your attention.

Eric Madunic is simply an incredible musician and human being. He's the bassist behind Wisconsin music legend Willy Porter and in the fantastic blues informed band, Blind Fiction. Eric has some seriously great bass chops and has several WAMI Awards and nominations to back up that claim. His goal with his music isn't to be famous, but to be heard enhancing the arrangements of the songs written by his bandmates. He plays for the enjoyment music brings him and those who hear the bands he's a part of. Combine that with his humble spirit and outright kindness, you have a bandmate that you can count on not just to hold down the low end, but as a friend.

Imagine a point where Metallica, Queen, The Black Keys, Foxy Shazam, Meatloaf and others intersect. Now stop imagining because that point exists with TUK. Andrew, Allen, Michael, and Ty pull from all of these influences (and keep adding more!) to create a sound unique not just in the local music scene in NE Wisconsin, but in the state. Their latest album, Confrontations, was three years in the making and is powerful and downright cinematic in scope. These guys aren't a one trick pony either as their acoustic performances are every bit as powerful as when they're plugged in. So turn it up because here's TUK!

Phil Tittle is a guitarist/singer/songwriter with a passion to serve. He served his country for twenty years in the US Air Force, but during that time a guitar was never far away from his hands. After retiring from the USAF, he served veterans by starting a chapter of Guitars For Vets. He also served beginning musicians by establishing a school where they could learn songwriting and guitar. These days he's serving up some great original songs and we're premiering one of them on this show. Phil grew up in Georgia, so a number of southern based artists like the Allman Brothers Band, Waylon Jennings, and Tom Petty have influenced his music, but he has a style all his own. Let's just say Phil's serving up music that's both familiar and fresh.

The Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) is an organization designed to promote music made by Wisconsin musicians whether they are full time professionals or just beginning their journey. The 42nd WAMI Awards, Wisconsin's equivalent to the Grammy Awards, took place on Sunday, May 19, 2024 and we have Ann Rakowiecki from WAMI here to recap the ceremony and talk about what else WAMI does for the Wisconsin music community. From recognizing Wisconsin's best artists to supporting students in their musical studies, here's your opportunity to find out about WAMI.

Kurt Gunn is one of northeast Wisconsin's premiere singer-songwriters and is no stranger to Into The Music. Besides having a consistent gigging schedule which includes solo shows as well as the duets Girl & the Gunn with Amanda James and The Brothers Gunn with Brad Bordini, he's been busy in the studio with a pair of new albums that will drop later this year. Today we debut Kurt's new single from this project, an introspective acoustic tune called "Lessons Learned so Hard" and we discuss not only the song, but the story behind the forthcoming album it's from called South Facing. We also get some info on the second album of the pair, an electrified collection of songs called North Facing by The Kurt Gunn Band.
