Insulin resistance is frequently a silent contributor to a number of widespread chronic health conditions, including Alzheimer’s, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. In fact, a startling 88% of adults experience some degree of insulin resistance. The condition is both pervasive yet easy to miss, making it that much more critical a topic to address.
On today's episode, Cody has invited Dr. Morgan Nolte to discuss why changes to our diet, lifestyle, and mindset are key to reversing the condition, and why the end goal isn’t simply weight loss, but rather body recomposition and long-term behavior change.
DR. MORGAN NOLTE is a board-certified clinical specialist in geriatric physical therapy. Recognizing a lack of preventative education and care that focused on reversing risk factors instead of just treating symptoms, Dr. Nolte founded Zivli, an online course and coaching program that helps adults reverse insulin resistance for long-term weight loss and disease prevention.
Dr. Nolte’s content has reached millions of people through her podcast and YouTube channel, which now has over 100,000 subscribers. She’s been a guest lecturer for local physical therapy departments, State and National Physical Therapy Organizations, and has been a guest addressing insulin resistance on top-rated wellness podcasts including Everyday Wellness with Cynthia Thurlow, The Ultimate Health Podcast, and the Dhru Purohit Show.

If you’re struggling with hormone imbalance, fatigue, brain fog, or resistant weight loss, it’s often thanks to stored heavy metals that are quietly in the background, sapping your energy and poisoning every organ and body system.
The good news is that it’s easy to test for heavy metals, and once you know they’re there, there’s plenty you can do to detox them.
On today’s episode, Cody covers how heavy metals cause hormone imbalance, the four most common heavy metals that mess with our hormones, and what we can do to detox heavy metals

If you had to name one of your biggest health fears, would breast cancer be top of your list? Public health campaigns have put this important health issue on our radar and obviously that’s a good thing. Because according to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is diagnosed in 1 in 7 women. If you gather a small group of your girlfriends, someone is going to get it. It is real.
Yet, when we talk about this concerning disease, the focus is often on detection (think mammograms) and treatment (think mastectomies). And, in my opinion, far too little is said about prevention.
What about you? Are you in the know? How clued up are with knowing about the best lifestyle habits to reduce your breast cancer risk?
In this episode, Cody shares what science is saying, what she has experienced through working with dozens of women with breast cancer diagnosis, as well as from personal experience through breast cancer scares and from supporting her sister who has been living with a stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis for over 20 years.
To help prevent breast cancer, it’s important to recognize the links between elevated hormones and ill health. This is particularly true for estrogen.Did you learn something new today? Period bloating is a common and often frustrating symptom of Premenstrual Syndrome (aka PMS). It's that uncomfortable, swollen feeling that makes your jeans feel a bit too tight and leaves you longing for your comfiest pair of yoga pants. It may even make you feel like you've had weight gain come out of nowhere, even though you haven't, and it can be accompanied by other symptoms like PMS cramps, PMS headaches, and mood swings.
But the good news? You don't have to accept period bloating as an inevitable part of your menstrual cycle. In this episode, Cody sheds light on the causes of period bloating, and provides some manageable solutions to ease your discomfort, and empower you to take charge of your overall well-being during your menstrual cycle.

On today's episode, Cody has invited guest Nicki Williams to the conversation about the importance of aging gracefully and how fitness and food intake play a crucial role in this process.
Amy, a qualified pharmacist and fitness expert, believes that about 90% of aging gracefully comes down to our choices regarding fitness and nutrition. While both fitness and nutrition are important, Amy suggests that nutrition holds a more significant impact, accounting for about 80% of the equation. Fitness, on the other hand, is like the cherry on top. As we age, preserving and building muscle becomes crucial for maintaining independence and avoiding the need for assisted living. Amy highlights the importance of incorporating regular exercise and focusing on muscle-building to age backward and lead healthier lives.

Did you know that the birth rate is falling in many countries, and around a third of couples have some kind of trouble conceiving. So what’s causing this decline? Is it really down to rogue chemicals wreaking havoc with our hormones? And how worried should we be?
Endocrine disrupting chemicals can lead to many different reproductive health and fertility issues, as well as other forms of health issues. As is talked about in this episode, EDCs can contribute to endometriosis, they can worsen symptoms of PCOS, and they absolutely negatively impact male fertility as well.
Endocrine disruptors are found in what seems like everything — they are in the plastic bottles we drink from, in our favorite cosmetics, and in the cleaning products that promise a sparkling home. They're more common than we are aware of and what we'd like to believe.
In this episode, Cody talks about the top things we all should know about endocrine disruptors and fertility.

Immersing ourselves into very cold or nearly freezing water might be the absolute last thing any of us would ever choose to do, but it can be worth it — considering it's a habit that's linked to many health benefits, such as a boost in metabolism and circulation and it can significantly reduce pain and inflammation in the body.
Because of the benefits and after many years of implementing it into her own wellness routine, Cody encourages most everyone to take advantage of it. But, as she encourages us to try cold-plunging, she also shares how to make the most of the benefits and how to avoid the disadvantages that affect us as women. There are special considerations to keep in mind for us, because of our unique hormonal cycles and our reproductive health.
If we can understand how to integrate cold plunges into our monthly menstrual cycle we can maximize the benefits and avoid potential drawbacks, things like worsened cramps, for example.
In this episode, Cody helps us explore the science behind cold immersion for women, potential cold plunge benefits, and shares advice for all of the different stages of our menstrual cycle, as well as considerations for those who are pregnant, or trying to become pregnant, and even those of us who are using hormone replacement therapy.

You probably know serotonin best as the “happy molecule,” but how exactly is it linked to our mood? This hormone plays a role in digestion, sleep, memory, and more but is best known for its impact on regulating happiness, anxiety, and mood.
Low serotonin levels in the brain can lead to symptoms of depression, so understanding this powerful hormone is critical in protecting our mental health.
In this episode, Cody and her guest Jen St. Clair explore the root causes of low serotonin, and how it is connected to mood disorders. They also talk about how important it is to take a deep look into your health history to see all that can be contributing. Jen shares her story of how she overcame severe depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety and addiction naturally. She shares how she thought she was going to be on medications for the rest of her life. Her life was changed when she learned how to address nutritional deficiencies, rebuild her gut health and work on her mindset.

We all have different sex drives, so what’s “normal” for you may not be for your best friend. Sexual desire can change daily, weekly, monthly, or even hourly.
Sexual desire is complex, and what turns you on is so individualized. Add stress, sleep disruption, and feeling connected to a partner in the mix, and there’s no single predictor of desire for anyone. But one thing is clear: your sex hormones play a huge role in helping—or keeping you from—getting in the mood.
Given that sex hormones shift throughout your cycle, it’s no wonder there are certain times of the month when you may feel more easily turned on and other times when your libido feels flatlined. On today’s episode, Cody shares with us, all we need to know about sexual desire, the menstrual cycle, and how our hormones influence both.

Insomnia and sleep problems are a major issue in our culture, but did you know that women are more likely to experience poor sleep than men? The changes in female hormones through the menstrual cycle influence sleep patterns and may explain why sleep becomes more challenging for many women before or during their period.
Moreover, those with premenstrual syndrome (PMS) or premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) may be even more likely to experience PMS insomnia, fragmented sleep, and reduced sleep quality due to changes in hormone levels.
On today’s episode, Cody will unpack the connections between the menstrual cycle, hormone health, and sleep. Plus, She’ll offer tips for improving sleep quality before and during your period.

There’s tons of research that shows that backs this up. A healthy breakfast sets the stage for hormone balance throughout the day, which is critical for women at all stages of life.
On today's episode, Cody goes into it all. She talks about how to choose a hormone-loving breakfast and how to avoid breakfasts that are not supportive of our hormonal health. As is the case with most nutrition topics, we hear a lot of different opinions. Thoughts on breakfast, are no exception. Some say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Others say to skip or delay breakfast for intermittent fasting benefits.
Food companies promote quick, easy breakfasts like premade shakes, bars, and cereals. But as we'll get into, eating these types of meals as part of your daily diet can do more harm than good to your hormones.
Let’s get to the bottom of the breakfast debate and learn why switching up your breakfast routine might be the best thing you can do for your hormones!

Toxic thoughts, depression, anxiety-our mental mess is frequently aggravated by a chaotic world and sustained by an inability to manage our runaway thoughts. But we shouldn't settle into this mental mess as if it's just our new normal. There's hope and help available to us, and the road to healthier thoughts and peak happiness may actually be shorter than you think.
On today's episode Cody has invited the amazing, Dr. Caroline Leaf to be her guest.Today you will learn:
5 steps that can help reduce anxiety and depression by up to 81% according to clinical studies How science can help us transition from being aware of toxic thoughts to catching and managing them in their early stages How to capitalize on directed neuroplasticity using the Neurocycle To apply mind management to unwire toxic habits and trauma How to leverage the lessons in the book for their daily lifestyle, including connection, brain-building, sleep, diet, exercise, people-pleasing, toxic perfectionism, overthinking, toxic emails and texts Why mindfulness is not enough and how strategic mind management through the 5 steps can take a reader beyond mindfulnessDr. Caroline Leaf is a communication pathologist, audiologist, clinical and research neuroscientist with a Masters and PhD in Communication Pathology and a BSc Logopaedics, specializing in psychoneurobiology and metacognitive neuropsychology. Since the early 1980s she has researched the mind-brain connection, the nature of mental health, and the formation of memory. She was one of the first in her field to study how the brain can change (neuroplasticity) with directed mind input.
During her years in clinical practice and her work with thousands of underprivileged teachers and students in her home country of South Africa and in the USA, she developed her theory (called the Geodesic Information Processing theory) of how we think, build memory, and learn, into tools and processes that have transformed the lives of hundreds of thousands of individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), learning disabilities (ADD, ADHD), autism, dementias and mental ill-health issues like anxiety and depression. She has helped hundreds of thousands of students and adults learn how to use their mind to detox and grow their brain to succeed in every area of their lives, including school, university, and the workplace.
