  • Our guest on Episode 32 of “Load-In Through the Back” is unlike any other.

Kurt Deimer is an oil tycoon turned actor turned rock star. He is most likely the only guest we will ever have that has been killed by Michael Myers in a Halloween movie, and is even more likely the only guest to be slaughtered on screen and then sell-out shows with Skid Row.

In this interview we discuss Kurt’s unique journey to current-day, his creative process, making a name for himself in the hard rock scene, his upcoming double album, and more.

Follow @kurtdeimer on social media and stay up-to-date on upcoming releases and tour announcements.

In this interview, Mark discusses compartmentalizing his songwriting, the evolution of multimedia in live performing, keeping the classics fresh, and also gives us one heck of a Darius Rucker impersonation.

  • Well, the search for our funniest guest is officially over. Episode 30 of “Load-In Through the Back” brings an interview with Americana singer/songwriter Steve Poltz.

Steve has released ten (yes, ten) acclaimed solo records, fronted a darling indie band entitled the Rugburns, and co-wrote “You Were Meant With Me” with Jewel. He plays hundreds of shows across the United States, Canada, and beyond annually with everyone from Brett Dennen to Deer Tick.

Admittedly, this is less of a music interview and more of a P O L T Z interview– full of quips, stories, and a whole lot of personality.

If you want to get to know Steve, you’ve come to the right place.

Make sure to check out upcoming tour dates at Poltz.com, and follow @StevePoltz to stay informed on new releases and general debauchery.

  • Episode 29 of “Load-In Through the Back” features a conversation with drummer Andrew Stravers of the band Katastro.

Stravs joins us following an emotional weekend of headlining shows at the Marquee Theater in Tempe, Arizona.

Following a 2022 studio session, the band’s lead singer and co-founder Andy Chaves tragically passed away in a car accident. Since then, the remaining members have forged ahead to complete their last studio album: “Until the End of Time.” The LP features Chaves’ lead vocals on every track, as well as guest vocalists Rome Ramirez, Jared Watson and Duddy B of the Dirty Heads, and John O'Callaghan of the Maine.

The band and their producers spent countless hours compiling demo recordings and unused studio takes of Chaves to complete the album over the past two years, and recently performed a string of shows to celebrate the project's release.

In this interview we discuss the process of compiling Andy’s vocal tracks, the catharsis of performing live following the album’s release, life on the road, and baby socks
 yes, baby socks.
