Greetings & Blessings into the New Year!
Here’s a quick lil mix I’ve created to help spread the vibrations and the word about a wonderful DJ set I’ll be doing in Cebu/Philippines @ Soul Sierra for their Cacao Transcendance + Sound Bath event Saturday Jan 11th @ the Garden at Soul Sierra. Kym from Soul Sierra has invited my brother Neil aka 4000 aka OMNeilpresent to do the Sound Baths for a weekend retreat and I was also invited to provide some tunes. Greetings Everyone! Apologies for the lack of musical messages on Dank Radio for the past couple weeks or so. I've been gearing up for a trip to the motherland: The Philippines. I'm headed out there for some family fun and figured, "Why don't I have some musical fun as well?!" So I sought out help from a few Los Angeles based music friends [Alvin of Renegades of Dub + Spazzkid] and reached out to a handful of wonderful DJs/Promoters/Organizers/Party People and worked out some dates. I still have a few more that have yet to be finalized and will update you as my journey unfolds. To celebrate the upcoming dates I've created a mix. L.A. RADIO DJ NATIVITY TO PERFORM IN METRO MANILA
Dank Radio Founder and Host Launches “Nativity In Manila” Tour
LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles-based DJ and FM radio host Noel Belen, also known as Nativity on the L.A. radio program Dank Radio, will perform at several Metro Manila events in April and May as part of the “Nativity In Manila” tour.
Nativity focuses his eclectic DJ sets on bass-heavy, four-on-the-floor dance music, a dash of hip-hop, and the occasional classic tunes. He has performed alongside house music artists such as Benny Benassi and Carl Cox in clubs and parties throughout Southern California.
Dank Radio is in its seventh year on air through Aziatik Rhythmz on FM radio station KPFK 90.7 FM Los Angeles.

Josh from drumandbassroots.com invited me to do perform for a warehouse event he was planning in LB. I club events so I told him I was down. Originally I was slated to open, but due to being out of town in SD for a cousins wedding I wouldn't be back until later that evening. They were cool enough to move things around and I ended up closing from 3am-420am. It was an awesome set. There was only at most 20 people there, but every single person was feeling it. My favorite moment during my set was when the bboys exploded during Planet Rock. Finally got to play a lot of songs that I never get to use in most club gigs. I always wanted to play a set post 2am so big ups to Josh for giving me a chance to do so!

This was the 3rd time I was invited to perform at Static Fridays @ Detroit Bar [1st time was in the Side Stage 2nd in Main Room]. They asked if I would be down for a Dubstep set and told them I'd be more than happy to deliver some bass rhythms. I was going to ask Fabricated [Dank Radio] for more recent releases and thought it would be fun to just do a back to back DJ set instead. We haven't mixed b2b since 2010(?) so it was a really really FUN set [1st time i've ever mixed in key at a gig]. Fabricated was late and showed up 15 min into the set. From that point on we did 2 songs each. Can you guess which tracks are mine and which are his? Press play and guess in the comments.

That was a crazy night. Good, bad, and mostly Great. They closed the main room and had to combine the two line ups into one like Goku + Vegeta to create Gogeta. DJ's were cut to make room for the headliners and most were understanding. We made it work. Initially I was to have an hour set, which later turned into a 45 min set, and finally I was given the last 20 min of the evening. As my DJ sensei and other life senseis have continually instilled in me, no matter the time slot, amount of time to perform, you MUST rock it. NO EXCUSES. NO WHINING. So I approached the last 20 min. as a new challenge. How many songs can I fit that will service the crowd, educate the crowd, and keep them dancing until the lights come on? I'm starting fresh with a new weekly[we'll see how long this lasts] mixtape series. This first installment is my submission to a Summer Mix Series presented by a local organization headed by some of my good friends/fellow music lovers, I.T.S. Music Playground. It's due today and in true Nativity fashion I waited until the last night[morning] to record it. I was listening to Radio Soulwax on repeat for a couple hours before compiling the tracks for the mix. This explains the genre jumps and Soulwax tracks. Also included are some exclusive tracks by some of my friends, BBoy Peanut from Cambodia, and Gotsú Ongeslis [YO Bill + Mr. Anderson] from skurptycity. The mix is far from perfect and I did it in one take. So yes there are errors. Even if I were to re-do the mix perfectly it would take away from the humanity and spontaneity of the vibe.
