In this episode, we’re doing a deep dive into the twisted fate of Mark Twitchell, aka ‘The Dexter Killer’. late 20th century, the chilling phenomenon of copy-cat killers gained popularity, referring to disturbed individuals replicating the methods of infamous criminals. This twisted trend took a sinister turn in Edmonton, Canada, where a 29-year-old filmmaker, Mark Twitchell, plunged into an eerie obsession with Dexter Morgan, a fictional character from the TV series "Dexter." Twitchell, fueled by a macabre desire for notoriety, envisioned himself as a real-life vigilante serial killer. His gruesome plan unfolded as he lured innocent and unsuspecting men by using online personas, leading them to a meticulously prepared 'kill room.' Twitchell's dark ambitions were documented in a haunting manuscript as he aimed to translate his horrifying experiences into a blockbuster horror film, with the goal of catapulting himself into a world of fame and fortune. However, his plan was abruptly halted after his first murder, putting an end to his dangerous quest for fame and fortune.
In this episode, we discuss the innocent man who fell victim to Twitchell’s plan, Johnny Altinger, as well as a separate man who would later come forward as a survivor. We touch on the element of men’s safety and the shame associated with them being victimized.

In May of 2012, friends of Chinese university student, Jun Lin, reported him missing from Montreal, Canada. Days later, rumors of a real-life murder video were circulating online. The friend that reported Jun Lin missing happened to click on the video, and a wave of terror came over him when he realized the victim in the snuff film was his missing friend.
Jun Lin’s torso was found in a suitcase swarming with flies, and his dismembered hands and feet were mailed to elementary schools and Canadian political parties. The perpetrator would soon be identified as Luka Rocco Magnotta, and a worldwide manhunt was on.

In Toronto, on a spring evening in 2003, ten year old Holly Jones walked her friend home after they had a playdate at her house. Holly spoke with her friend’s mother before heading back to her family home, which was in the same neighbourhood, but she didn’t make it there. This was completely out of character for Holly and her family was frantic. Her disappearance, which happened in broad daylight, led to the issuing of Ontario’s first amber alert. News stations, billboards and radios around the province spoke of the missing girl and a massive search began. Hundreds of community members and investigators began helping in the search to find Holly, and eventually to find the man that Holly’s mother refers to as “The monster”.
The case of the murder of Holly Jones will be live in the coming days. It is a truly heartbreaking story that involves a loving family, a dedicated police force and a community coming together.

In the summer of 1995, 13 year old Thad Phillips would throw himself down a flight of stairs in order to call for help. He had been held captive for almost 2 days, being tortured in the worst imaginable way. His abductor was a sexual sadist, who had a fascination with the sound of breaking bones. The boy had suffered multiple leg fractures and was on death’s door by the time the police found him. He was the lucky one. The abductor had done the same to another teenage boy a year prior, with this boy’s body being found badly decomposed in a nearby river. The person responsible for this was the neighborhood bully, a 17 year old sociopath named Joe Clark. This is the case of the Baraboo Bone Breaker.

Joseph Paul Franklin, born James Clayton Vaughan, was a white-supremacist, racist, neo-nazi Serial killer who terrorized in the late 1900s. From 1977 to 1980, Franklin traveled across the United States in search of Jewish, Black or Interracial couples that he would most often shoot and kill in the name of his mission. This mission was to ignite a national race war, and he felt that each attack drew him closer to this goal.
Franklin was able to fly under the radar due to the fact that the murders he committed seemed to be random, isolated attacks, since he would often flee the state immediately following. This separation between attacks made it difficult for authorities to link them together and to see that there was a psychotic racist serial killer at large. Throughout this “mission” it is believed that Joseph Paul Franklin killed more than 20 people. In addition to his murders, he injured at least six of his victims, with one being Hustler Magazine founder Larry Flynt, who ultimately became paralyzed from the waist down from the attack.
In this episode, we will be discussing how Joseph Paul Franklin escalated to become a serial killer by the age of 27, making white-supremacy and the murder of “Jews and Blacks” his entire life’s purpose and believing that they were the “enemy of the white race”, as well as details of the more than 20 murders that are believed to have been committed by him, his eventual capture and death. -
14 years after being acquitted of a first degree murder charge for the death of her 3 year old daughter, Caylee, Casey Anthony took part in a 3-part docuseries that aired on Peacock. Casey, the woman who spun a ridiculous web of lies throughout the entire investigation, has now turned a new leaf and wants to have her “truth” be heard. She is still defending her innocence, and STILL saying she doesn’t know what happened to her daughter. As the series progresses, she tells the story of sexual abuse she suffered as a child, and a completely new narrative begins to arise. A new theory on what happened to Caylee. A theory with zero proof or evidence to back it up.

In this story, Kristen will be telling Amanda the story of Adam Strong. 18 year old Rori Hache, from Oshawa, Ontario, went missing August 29th, 2017. Two weeks later, her dismembered torso would be discovered floating in the Oshawa Harbour. As you can imagine, her family was absolutely distraught and went months without answers as to what happened, or where the rest of their daughter was. Four months after she was reported missing, her mutilated remains were pulled out of the pipes of Adam Strong’s pipes after plumbers were called to snake a clogged drain.
After police searched 45 year old Adam Strong’s apartment, the remaining head and limbs of Rori were discovered in his freezer, along with her blood spatter all over items in his home. During their search, police discovered a skinning knife inside one of the kitchen drawers that had a piece of tissue-like material on it. The knife was sent away for DNA testing, and came back positively identified as missing 19 year old Kandis Fitzpatrick, who had disappeared 10 years prior, without a trace.
What ensued after was the lowest form of pure and utter disrespect from Adam Strong. He toyed with investigators during his interrogations, showing off, cracking jokes and being sarcastic about the situation he was in. He was cocky, arrogant, and completely out of touch with the reality or gravity of the pain he had caused.

In this episode, Amanda will be telling Kristen about the murder of Paula Gallant. A case local to Nova Scotia, just outside of Halifax. In 2005, when the news of Paula's murder broke, it shocked the community. As a school teacher, Paula Gallant touched the lives of many, particularly her students, who cherished her as much as she cherished them.
Paula Gallant was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was an elementary school teacher who was adored by her students and colleagues, as well as a talented and dedicated artist. At 36 years old, just two days after Christmas in 2005, Paula was found murdered, left in the trunk of her car in the parking lot of the school at which she worked. As year by year passed, Paula’s sisters struggled and fought to keep Paula Gallant’s name in the media and to keep the search for the perpetrator alive. Eventually, it had been almost five years that had gone by, without any indication that Paula’s killer would be found.
At this point, to the community, it seemed as though the investigation had gone cold. However, unbeknownst to those outside the investigation, officers were working tirelessly behind the scene to gather enough evidence to put Paula Gallant’s murderer away. A case that would finally come to a close through the use of the Mr. Big operation, a tactic created in Canada, which involves an intricate undercover investigation that is designed to uncover the truth surrounding a potential suspect. This investigation, which occurred over the course of ten months, eventually led the perpetrator to elaborately confess to what they had done. This case is the story of two loving sisters who spent every waking day fighting for justice and to spread awareness of violence against women in Paula Gallant’s memory.

In this episode, Amanda and Kristen continue to discuss Canada's worst serial killer Robert Pickton, in addition to an interview with former RCMP officer Nathan Wells, who arrested Robert. We detail Robert’s arrest and the horrific search of the farm, Robert’s confession to an undercover officer in his cell, the trial(s) and verdict, police criticism and public inquiry into the case, as well as what was and wasn’t done to honour the victims, and where the Picktons are today.
Robert, also known as Willie, sought out the most vulnerable victims he could, women who were desperate, in survival mode, living in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside, addicted to drugs and working as sex workers. Due to the conditions faced by Indigenous women in Canadian society today - including systemic racism, bias, stereotyping, lack of equitable resources, loss of cultural identity as well as multi and intergenerational trauma, many of Robert Pickton's victims were Indigenous. It's unfortunate that it took Robert's heinous crimes to finally shed some light on the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous women and girls in Canada. In this episode, we also highlight some important resources and ways that you can help MMIWG2S. As this case and the way it was handled has been largely discussed and criticized, we also outline the information regarding criticism of police conduct and the results and recommendations of the Public Inquiry.
Finally, we end the episode with our interview with Nathan Wells, the RCMP officer who arrested Robert Pickton at his farm the night of February 5th, 2002. -
In this episode, Amanda and Kristen will be discussing serial killer Robert Willie Pickton. Robert Pickton, a pig farmer, is Canada’s most prolific and gruesome serial killer, with an assumed victim count of 49. From Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, he would prey for Indigenous victims in Vancouver’s Downtown EastSide, a poverty stricken neighborhood where society’s most vulnerable lived.
Using their drug addictions to manipulate their decision making, Robert would promise the sex workers an endless supply of money and drugs if they went back to his farm with him. From there, the unthinkable would happen. After having sex with these women, Robert would handcuff them and begin to strangle them to death with a belt. Then he would drag their lifeless bodies to his slaughterhouse, where he hoisted them up on a hook and did unspeakable things. He had many disposal methods: grinding up the flesh and mixing it in with ground pork and proceeding to sell or donate the meat to others to eat, feed the bodies directly to his pigs or put the bodies through his wood chipper, then he would bring the leftover remains down to a rendering plant where they would be melted down to a gelatin form.
Robert’s murderous rampage lasted decades as sex worker after sex worker vanished off the streets of the Downtown Eastside, with Vancouver Police adamantly denying the possibility of a serial killer. Join us for part one as we tear apart the first half of this case. Keep your eyes peeled for part two, where we interview Nathan Wells, the RCMP officer who arrested Robert at the Pickton Farm.

In this episode, Kristen will be telling Amanda about the story of the murder of Lauren Giddings. Lauren began telling multiple people that she felt like she was being stalked. But, being the outgoing, attractive young woman she was, her friends just thought she was exaggerating. She was in the middle of prepping for the biggest exam of her life; the bar exam. However, her life would be extinguished before she could accomplish her goal to become a lawyer.
Lauren’s next door neighbor, and fellow law student, Stephen McDaniel, was quite literally the creepiest MF’er alive. After Lauren rejecting his proposals to start dating him, he began relentlessly stalking her, recording videos of her coming and going from her apartment. Lauren could sense something was off. She couldn’t stand the feeling that she was being watched anymore, so she made the smart decision to move. Once Stephen found out she was leaving, he panicked and quickly changed from stalker to murderer. The old ‘If I can’t have her, no one will’ mentality.
The search for Lauren was on. But no one could imagine how or where she would be found. And the person responsible, well, he completely breaks down on national television, which quickly went viral.

In this episode, Amanda will be telling us about The Freeway Phantom, a serial killer who was active in Washington, D.C. in the early 1970s. This unknown perpetrator terrorized neighbourhoods in the Congress Heights and Anacostia areas in Northeast D.C. for over a year and a half and would take the lives of at least six young, African American girls - some just blocks away from their family homes. Over the years, despite the fact that this case has been investigated by numerous detectives and jurisdictions, the Freeway Phantom has remained just that, a phantom. Today, 50 years later, with no witnesses or viable leads, his identity remains a mystery, leaving communities and families without answers or closure.

In this episode, we will be discussing the mysterious missing person's case of Zack Lefave from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada.
On December 31st, 2020, many of us said goodbye to the difficult and life altering year we suffered living through a global pandemic, and celebrated a new year full of anticipation and possibility. But, 2021 would have a grim start in the town of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, when a 20 year old man goes missing from a NYE party, just two days short of his 21st birthday, never to be seen again. This is the mysterious story of Zack Lefave. Wandering from the party just before midnight, Zack proceeded to make a slew of bizarre phone calls to his friends, and was seen soon after walking down the highway with no pants on, on a cold winter's night.
This is our first unsolved missing person's case. In this episode, we will hear from Kimberly Morton, the cousin of Zack Lefave and the family representative for the case. Kimberly will join us at the end of the episode for an interview regarding the perplexing circumstances that have a family still agonizing for answers, a year and a half later.

In this episode, we will be discussing the highly disturbing case of Russell Williams.
Russell was a highly respected member of the Canadian Armed Forces and to those around him he was viewed as a prestigious leader and hero. But Russell had a different side that laid deep beneath the guise of honor. Sexual sadism and murder. Russell would stalk the homes of women and little girls, lurking in their backyards before breaking in through doors and windows. From there, he would secretly take pictures of himself in the homes wearing the women’s bras and underwear. He also committed other disgusting, despicable acts while inside. He would then flee with their entire underwear collection.
The thrill from breaking and entering would no longer satisfy his urges. He would eventually victimize two women by raping them inside their homes, and victimize two more, Marie-France Comeau, and Jessica Lloyd, by murdering them in the coldest way possible. All the while, documenting his horrible acts with pictures and videos.

In this episode, Amanda and Kristen will be discussing the long and horrific story of sexual sadist and abductor, Ariel Castro. We discuss Ariel’s childhood and early life, how he became the demented person he was, and what led him to living a double life, full of sick and sinister secrets.
The three victims in this story are 21 year old Michelle Knight, 16 year old Amanda Berry, and 14 year old Gina Dejesus. We cover their lives and disappearances in detail, the living conditions of Ariel’s disgusting home, and the unspeakable things the girls were made to do.
This is the first story of our podcast with a happy ending. After 11 years held captive, all three girls finally escape, along with Amanda’s 6 year old daughter, Jocelyn, who she birthed during her captivity. The media exploded with coverage over this insane outcome, the community and the families of the girls were in utter disbelieve, and the verdict that Ariel Castro was slammed with was nothing short of cathartic.
We share where the girls are today, and what ultimately became of Ariel Castro. The episode caps off with the Charles Ramsey interview in song version, “Dead Giveaway” by the Gregory Brothers for your enjoyment.

In this episode, Amanda and Kristen will be discussing the case of the Central Park five. On April 19th, 1989, a woman named Trisha Meili was severely beaten, raped and sodomized until she was within inches of her life.
The attack and rape shocked the city and became one of the most publicized cases of the 1980s. Five Black and Hispanic boys from Harlem's names were plastered and slandered across every newspaper, and they were soon after charged and convicted of the crime. However, 13 years after the attack, the boys' convictions were overturned, when the perpetrator came forward and confessed. These boys, who are now men, became known as the Central Park 5 or the exonerated 5.
