Travis and I are back in the kitchen making two beef dishes. I passed along a recipe for Broiled Flank-Steak Sandwiches, top with roasted peppers and Travis asked me to take a crack at Beef Stroganoff. In the midst of broiling our steak and making egg noodles from scratch, I regale Travis with the story of how my father blamed the dog for causing a small fire, believe it or not, he is still sticking with this story.

I am joined in the kitchen by Travis, a home cook who strives to make as much from scratch as possible. In this episode we are bringing together flavors fit for summer, with a Strawberry-Mint Limeade, and Travis lets me in on his secret to the perfect omelet! Because we all know how terrible I can be with eggs.

Stephen is back in the kitchen and we are slicing through a couple of pies. Stephen is making my mom’s recipe for Double Layered Pumpkin Pie and I am baking Stephen’s go-to Old Fashion Pecan Pie recipe. We are also unveiling the magic of cream cheese, discussing puh·kaan vs pee-can, pork roll vs Taylor Ham, and revealing top favorite vegetables. There are so many topics ahead because who knew pie would take so damn long to cool.

I am joined in the kitchen by home cocktail creator Stephen, who is teaching us how to create the drink that got him into cocktails, the Paloma Sour. Can’t or don’t want to eat a raw egg? No worries, Stephen gives a tip on how to get that wonderful froth without this protein. We also chat about Stephen’s approach to cocktails and how this hobby started.

Miki and I return to the kitchen to meet my long time enemy, eggs. Miki is whipping up a Potato, Red Onion, and Goat Cheese Frittata straight from my mom's recipe box. And for me, it was love at first bite with a Crab Omelet that Miki's mom would make for her in the Philippines. The filling was so good I could not help but sample it before the final product, don’t judge me.

Miki returns and while we may just be homecooks, girls can dream and we’re revealing our cooking passions past and present. All while fighting this winter chill with a combination I love. Boozy gingerbread hot chocolate, who knew milk could be so damn stubborn! And seriously, does anyone own a measuring spoon for a pinch?? Cause I don't.

Angela and I hope to get you in the mood for soup season! I had the pleasure to follow her Great Aunt’s recipe for Italian Wedding Soup, which was silky and delicious. While my recipe was a little more simple, Angela had a lot going on in her kitchen, tackling the multiple steps behind Firey Seafood and Andouille Gumbo. Which packed a punch!

I get to test my hand at one of the recipes that got Andrea started on her culinary exploration of Thai cuisine, Yum Kai Dao (Fried Egg Salad). She offers substitution tips for ingredients not easily accessible in big-box grocery stores. Andrea settled on Gingered Carrot Soup, with flavors that caught her eye and can be served hot or cold.
