Candace enlisted in the military, attending Officer Candidate School to earn her commission in the U.S. Army. Her assignments include service with the Joint Special Operations Command and the 18th Airborne Corps. She is a combat veteran and was part of both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
For the past 15 years, Candace has served at both the local and international level through mission trips and service projects. In August 2021, Candace and her husband joined other volunteers in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., to assist with the evacuation of our Allies from Afghanistan. She served as the site manager for the Emirates Humanitarian City in Abu Dhabi, serving approximately 15,000 Afghans. She is currently the Chief Operations Officer for The Black Feather Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on helping refugee children acclimate to their new environment through sports.
Candace has been married for 23 years to retired Special Forces (SF) Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Joe Cieslo. They have three biological children and are also the legal guardians of three Afghan Refugee minors. She was awarded a 4-year, full scholarship to play for Georgetown University Womenâs Basketball Team, that became the Big East Co-Champion and a Sweet 16 participant in 1993.

Jimâs Bio:
Joining the Army at 17, the Tennessee native Jim Young attended Basic training and Infantry school at Ft. Benning, Georgia. He was then stationed in Schweinfurt, West Germany With the 3rd Infantry division. In 1987 he was injured while on a border patrol between Czechoslovakia and West Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1988. He returned home and started my own business building and installing audio video and surveillance systems. That lasted until 2018 when he decided to open Salvation Coffee Company.

Alanâs Bio:
Chief Warrant Officer Five Alan Mack, a native of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, served over 35 years in the US Army before retiring in 2016. His military career included 17 years in Army Special Operations. His awards include the Legion of Merit, 2 Distinguished Flying Crosses, 3 Bronze Stars, 10 Air Medals (one with Valor Device), and a Combat Action Badge. Additionally, he logged more than 6700 flying hours during his tenure. During Operations Desert Shield and Storm, Mack participated as a CH-47D âChinookâ pilot. Then he flew MH-47s while assigned to the 160 th SOAR, the Armyâs only Special Operations Aviation Regiment. His crew was one of the first into Afghanistan and the first into Mazar-i-Sharif as part of Americaâs Response to the attacks on 9/11. His cargo, a 5th Special Forces âA-Teamâ (ODA 595), aka âthe Horse Soldiers,â helped topple the Taliban, capture the countryâs capital, and reclaim possession of the US Embassy.
As a Special Operations Flight Leader participating in special operations worldwide in support of the Global War on Terror, Mack collaborated with Army Rangers, Delta Force, Special Forces, Navy SEALS, assorted Special Operations Units, and Other Government agencies.

He served in the Army for 19 years and is still currently on active duty. With a notable military career, he has experienced 5 Army combat deployments. One of his significant roles was leading POW/MIA Recovery Missions during deployments to various locations, including Laos, Vietnam, France, Germany, Belgium, and Guadalcanal.
During a break in service, he took on a civilian contractor role, conducting security operations in the Middle East. In his free time, he pursued a music career, albeit one he considered "crappy." Nevertheless, he had the extraordinary opportunity to share the stage with renowned musicians and open for impressive performers at Sturgis.
Additionally, he ventured into entrepreneurship and successfully started his own business. Despite his diverse experiences, his passion and dedication lie in supporting his fellow brothers and sisters in arms who have endured the challenges of combat. He is heavily invested in making a positive impact on their lives and well-being.
